Super stocks........I jetted a shee w/ those and still ran best w/ the stock pilot.....Just having a hard time believing the 32 pilots are what you need...how does it start when its warm? Do you have to hold the throttle open a little? Or will it start up w/ no throttle and idle?
-
Plug test......plug test. If you have a hard time reading the plugs then post a pic after a wot run in 6th gear...also....mid to top.........disconnect the parking brake switch by following the wires towards the gas tank until you find the connector. Disconnect. Next look above you left exhaust and you'll see a little black box w/ a 3-wire plug. Disconnect it..then make sure the choke tube is in place between the carbs 1/4" x 2" long.

Pipe with all around good power?
Banchetta replied to badbanshee01's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
The Pt's don't have as much top as other aftermarket pipes, but they do have a lot more than stock....so they do give more low, mid and top than stock.....where most other pipes only have more mid and top... -
Carb questions for the pros! Please help!
Banchetta replied to slimeball's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Its a common problem w/ the stock carbs. New or used....there are some 20+page threads on here about this w/ theorys on why only stock carbs do this....so far they are still theorys.......only way to stop it is to either avoid water at high speeds or get new pwk carbs (keihins) -
Glamis, Glamis, Glamis, Glamis, Glamis,....GGGGlllllllllllaaaaaaammmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

I had a friend that milled .025 off his head and deto the motor 3 times. I kept telling him it was from the head, but he just wouldn't listen.....I know a lot of other people have done .030 w/ no problems. But what can I say......Good luck

Just a head mod, 165psi, +4 timing, stock carbs, .......oh yea, boost bottle and reed spacers....

Pipe with all around good power?
Banchetta replied to badbanshee01's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Ok............you guys should actually try a midrange pipe before replying that there isn't a pipe that will give low end power.... Pt mids give the most low end power for a twin pipe. They WILL give a lot more bottom end then stock, the most midrange of any pipe w/ great top end gains...as for the next closest fmf gnarlies, fmf sst's, Bills, and dmc in that order... -
NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So far, I have no one to share a RV w/....so if you guys want to keep that in mind....
-
they aren't bad. They have good midrange and top end. Comparable to the fatties.

Put some run time on the plugs first. I hate using new plugs. Get them colored, then run it wot. Your pipes give max hp at 1200degrees. You won't hit that just cruising around which will have a darker colored plug since your exhaust temp is low...The ground strap on the tip of the plug is your temperature teller. Over 1350 degrees and pistons will start melting..at 1200 degrees you can get max hp and safely run it wot for long periods..run it again w/ those plugs now that they have color on them.. as for the needle, trial and error, find the best low end response. If it didn't like rasing, then try lowering...find the sweet spot.

adjust the idle.

Hey guys need a little help on which size
Banchetta replied to dadudeinbiloxi's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I'd start w/ a 290 main, stock pilot, needle 4th clip and go from there. Fmf recommendations are way off. -
Don't be crazy, the difference between the 2 pipes is so very minimal. Keep the fmf's. They are a very good pipe, especially for your type of riding that your described. The T5's might have a touch more top end, barely noticeable, but you'll lose the bottom end to gain it..remember, when it comes to pipes, you'll lose at one end to gain the other....if you want to get some more all around gains, then save $300 bucks and get a Noss head...You WILL notice a power gain w/ that..
-
You need to up a size on the mains for every 15-20 degrees of temp change..I did my dyno run at 60 degrees out, so you should be running around a 400 at 30 degrees out...I also have a mx port. A dune or drag port will require more fuel. As for the larger carb...35PWK's. No doubt. Watch ebay...you can get a set for 200-250
-
Definately raise the needle. This will eliminate a lot of that hesitation before the powerband. You'll notice the 4th clip w/ aftermarket reeds and the 5th clip w/ stock reeds would be the best setting..
-
Sounds like your getting close and doing a good job learning how to jet your shee.. The needles won't control it at wot..so if your pinned, then your pulling off the mains only...if the needles are pulling the best at the 4th clip, then I'd go to the 5th clip and try that....never know you could gain some more pull before the powerband....now that your bottom end is stronger. you can gear it up a tooth on the front sprocket. Let it pull...as for your plugs being a different color, that is not good...make sure you have no air leaks around the carb boots, running one leaner then the other is most likely your problem and needs to be fixed...you could melt one piston...if you can't find the air leak, then you'll have to do a leakdown test where you block the exhaust and intake and pressurize the motor to see if you have a leak...
-
pinging on the low end has nothing to do w/ the jetting, but is the synchroning of the carbs. One side is pulling the other...make sure the slides are equally off the bottom of the carbs and cables are adjusted right.
-
The main won't affect the midrange, unless your way off, then your powerband won't even kick in....your pilot on the other hand will affect the needle....so where your running so rich on the pilot, then your midrange is probably too rich....your settings don't sound right...new pistons won't change your jetting. Reeds cages could a little, just reeds could change the needle one clip...Did you make sure the choke tube was in place when you put the carbs back together??? Slides in backwards?? Swapped the carb bowls?? These will all affect how the shee will start. If one of these aren't right. Then your jetting will be way off...
-
I'd run it wot in 6th gear and shut it down. Pull the plugs and see what they tell you. If they are black then go down to a 270 and try that. Are you still running a stock filter??? Make sure you didn't over oil it..Like wallrat said....every fmf piped shee I ever dialed in likes the 4th clip w/ aftermarket reeds and 5th clip w/ stock reeds...and yes, make sure the choke tube between the carbs is in place. (1/4" x 2" long)

Just got 12" of snow. Time for the sled now!!!! Everybody ready for Glamis in Feb.?????

Don't waste your money on a jet kit. Just buy the jets as you need them, way cheaper and you'll get what you want...you can get jets at magicracing.com......if your shee is fading at less throttle then your needle circuit is most likely too lean. Try raising your needles in your slides. Move the clip at the top of the needle down....you should see great gains.

where can I order main jets from online?

It really amazes me on how people read plugs....For one, normal riding will give you a false plug reading. So those pics are a waste of time...Two, put the plug back in and run in wide open in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, pull the clutch in, shut it down, coast to a stop, then take a pic of the plug. Guaranteed it'll look a lot different....
