  1. You don't need it, it just helps prevent fuel from splashing back and forth past the main jet, helps prevent any air bubbles from passing into it.
  2. Go up two sizes and try that... If that doesn't work, then check your plug caps.
  3. stick w/ what you have....A few others and I are trying different pipes for the strokers.
  4. keihin or mikuni?
  5. I can't see what is so hard about synching...take a flashlight and look into the intake, bottom each slide out so that they barely touch...move the adjustments up and down until they don't go down anymore (barely touching) then turn the adjustment knob 1 full turn back up. Do this to both sides and you'll be mint......if the idle is slightly off, then turn the knobs EQUALLY to raise or lower the idle...
  6. 290 mains, 4th clip w/ aftermarket reeds, 5th clip w/ stock reeds, stock pilot(25) adjust air screw to throttle response..
  7. Hard call..let us know when you come back...
  8. I'd do a wot run once your motor is broken in and get a good reading on the plugs to verify your mains...I'd think you'll be rich, but better to start there and work down....Definately try raising the needles. Like Ogre said, try the 4th clip and go from there...If thats too much then go back to the 3rd...As for the pilots, I'd play around w/ them. You'll see small changes in throttle response and big changes w/ idle/starting....I've always found fmf pipes to like the stock pilot...but do one change at a time, so you know what effects what....
  9. What kind of needles do you have? Carbs??
  10. Did you make sure your slides aren't backwards? Cutaway facing the air box? Choke tube is in place. Something doesn't sound right..
  11. Thats only because you blew your motor 2 hours into the trip!!!! I spent $455 for round trip to ship the quads $300-$400 to share rv $250 gas for vehicles, quads, etc $200 food to fill rv $350 plane ticket $+spending money or breakdown cost.. \ total cost last year.....$1575+ can't wait to spend it again!!!
  12. Your not too rich, your too lean...Raise your needles by lowering the clip...try the clip on the 4th notch from the blunt end. If that helps a lot, then try the 5th clip and see if it pulls even harder....Hesitation before powerband or prolong bog before powerband is a lean needle..
  13. Ditto. also why do you think its rich? Symptoms
  14. Both the T6's and T5's are a top end pipe...Depending on your type of riding you should spend a lot time considering this choice. The pipe puts the power where YOU want it. If you do a lot of tight woods riding w/ minimal top end, then get the 2 into 1 pipe. If you ride fast trail, mx, sand pits, all around, then get a midrange pipe like Pt mids, fmf gnarlies, fmf ssts, Bills, dmc. If you want to do some dune riding, fast tt racing, ice racing, drag racing then get some high rev pipes, like Toomey, pc, trinity, cpi, shearers, rockets, etc...
  15. Have you tried the needle in the first clip??? Problem lies between idle and powerband...but what are the symptoms before the powerband...hesitating or does it spit and sputter, shake and shutter...Are you at half throttle when your trying to hit powerband or are you holding it wide open until powerband kicks in?? I need to know this...
  16. It will have an effect, but the needle at the lowest position should be able to compensate.....
  17. I'd start w/ 350 mains, 4th clip on the needle, stock pilots and go from there...
  18. I'm sure it doesn't help.
  19. A pair of carbs are around 300 bucks depending on size and condition...I'd watch ebay for a pair...don't get too large of a carb. You can hurt performance as well as gain...
  20. For one. I bet the fmf shee will go even better if you raise the needles to the 4th clip from the top... TWO....for the T6 shee, I'd try adjusting the air screws for the idle and initial response and shee where the shee likes it...If it likes it better at .5 turn out vs. 1.5 turns out, then try a larger pilot...for the mains, I'd run it wide open in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, pull the clutch in, shut it off, coast to a stop, pull the plugs..post a pic of the plugs...
  21. I've heard that rumor about the T6's and porting when they first came out, but I don't know anyone who has ever displayed any fact sheet or dyno runs to prove it.....
  22. Naaa,,,too busy w/ the sleds at that point...why bother w/ 45hp. when you have a sled w/ 190hp!!!! So you told work that you have a week off in Feb.....thats good. Glamis will be FUN!!!!! Imagine how good your 370 would be in the dunes.....
  23. What exactly are the symptoms in the midrange??? Is it hesitating before powerband or does it break up like the choke is on?? Also are you running toomey needles or stock? What clip positions have you tried?
  24. You screw them out evenly to get the best throttle response..
  25. I'd run it w/ the needle in the 4th slot first to get an idea for the pilot and mains. Then try the needles, but your on the right track.....
