  1. Here you go. The N68A is the standard needle for the 28mm PWK. Page 136 has the 28mm information (N427-46 and N427-68). I am not sure if one of the -46 part numbers supersedes the N68A part number...
  2. As far as the needle, a JJH seems to be the one sticking out in my mind (I have never used 28PWKs). I am not sure if the 28PWKs will work with the stock intakes, but I am not positive on that one. I am sure someone with more 28PWK knowledge will be more help than I am... EDIT: I just did a search using the key words "28mm PWK jetting." There are a few you might be able to use to help you get it close. Click me.
  3. I much prefer straight paddles on all of my bikes, and I prefer 21 or 22 inch as well with an 8 inch wheel. If you do choose a v-paddle, go with Skat-Trak Edge...
  4. The crank is not lubricated with gear oil; the crank case compartment is isolated from the gear box. The cleanliness of the gear oil has nothing to do with whether or not the crank seal is blown. If the crank seal is blown, you will definitely know it, for the smell is very distinguishable and it does not take much burned oil to produce an excessive amount of white smoke on the right side. In other words, you may not notice a major loss in the gear oil level, but the seal could still be unserviceable.
  5. Make sure the pickup coil gap is within limits. An excessive gap can cause a break-up on the top.
  6. Click Me
  7. I concur, Keihin 33PWK  I would not worry too much about that. In the sand, you will want the top-end, and it is worth the trade-off.
  8. 1- Size #6 Drill Bit 1- 6mm X .75 Tap It is essential that you also use a good grade of tapping oil while tapping aluminum...
  9. Made a few moves lately, we will see how it turns out... Whenever I throw my hat in at times like this, I make sure it is money I can afford to loose if I bomb out!
  10. Word.
  11. I would ensure the pick-up gap is within limits, for it can cause a top-end sputter if the gap is too large.
  12. :yelrotflmao: It is most definitely not true. EDIT: BTW- boost bottles are useless, spark plug locks are a bad idea, and if you ever see the 'old school' Graydon Proline finned head cooling device sold many years ago, it is junk, too.
  13. I am sure you know that transmission oil does not and should not enter the crank area of the engine. I do not think there is any way that much transmission oil can be leaking from the base gasket without burning an excessive amount of oil as well...
  14. Check THIS out. If you have the same problem, I would suspect a leaky exhaust... :ermm:
  15. IMO, it is essential that you perform your jetting checks with a load on the engine... Which needles are you using?
  16. I would imagine anyone who sells a PD head will also sell the stud kit. Try F.A.S.T. first...
  17. I think you should pull the exhaust and inspect the o-ring (or make sure it is there). A leaky exhaust flange is a notorious problem 250R guys have, and that is almost exactly what it looks like when the flange is not sealed... Looks to me like it is leaking where the exhaust pipe connects to the cylinder. EDIT: Do a leakdown test before you pull everything apart...
  18. Why do you want parts that are associated with a troubled frame? There are plenty of banshees out there. A good deal is nice, but you have to be smart about it as well...
  19. You could do a leak-down test after the engine is assembled. Leak-down test link
  20. I was waiting for someone to suggest one of those. :teehee: I agree, detonation, and the condition needs to be corrected immediately...
  21. As far as I know... 87-94 95-96 97-01 02-present 87 to 94 had round plugs, 95-96 had square plugs, 97 to 01 added parking brake switch, 02-present added brake light... I could be wrong, so don't carve it in stone... :ermm:
  22. I would just put the money towards the porting, that is where the power is.
  23. I have a Noss head. Dave Noss is a great guy to deal with, he produces a top-notch product, and his customer service is through the roof! I am sure some of the others are great as well, but considering the product is excellent, and Noss Machine is a site sponsor, a Noss Head should be at the top of your list. EDIT: Yeah, what he said.
