Carb questions for the pros! Please help!
Banshee~ replied to slimeball's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
So you just have the airbox lid off? Go buy a cylmers manual on the banshee off amazon,overstock.com, or your yamaha dealer. Then get the carb rebuild kit and follow what the clymers manual says to do. What the deal is on the slides, is that they will stick if you get a couple of grains of dirt on them. So when you have it apart clean the shit out of the slides and inside the carb cap. Then spray some WD-40 on the slide, to prevent sticking. Also, while you have it apart, check to see what size pilot and main jets you have in it. -
Yea, call toomey and ask them about trading those for t5's (might not even cost anything). What kind of porting did you get and what have you done to your airbox? Whats the elevation and air temp?

Your jetting sounds lean for even summer time. Id try a 340 main jet and 27.5 pilots.

Naw, they were probley just display boxes. There were some in eb games that I thought were real until I read the side of the box. There going to be hard to get your hands on until Febuary. BTW xbox is going to be better than the ps3, because it cant play dvd's. Im going to get my xbox360 the 18th . I have ps1 and ps2 and im getting the 360 for one reason... the games are better hands down.

Did you rejet for your mods? What is your elevation and air temp. ? I think your slides might be sticking. When you say open airbox, do you mean you have the airbox lid off? -
Call prodesign and see if they have replacements. If that fails call david noss up, his adaptor plates have an o-ring and it might be the right size.

You dont want one side of the head to be torqued down to 25 ft. pounds and the other to 10 ft. pounds. That will cause leaks and might warp the head. Spend some money on a good torque wrench. You will need it for alot of stuff (head, oil drain bolt, lug nuts, ect.). Tip: get a tub of greese and wip some on the orings and they will stick to the head better. And get a clymers manual, it tells you the pattern you need to torque the head bolts to. Also torque all the head bolts to 5 ft. pounds, then 10,15, and 20.

I'd get a nossmachine coolhead, porting, and a storker crank ...then the 4 strokes wont be a problem. Cooler temps. will make ur engine run better and last longer, so yea its worth the $250 i paid for mine.

Get a low end port job for eric gorr with any low-mid end pipe and you will be happy. Banchetta what mods did you have when you compared the pipes (pt mids vs. gnarly)?
-
No offence, buy you dont know what your talking about. Dynojet needles are tons better than stock. I was suprised when I put them in on how much that made a difference. There was a "flat" spot in the midrange that I couldent get rid of until I put in the dynojet needles. Just curious, have you tried their needles in your banshee? 270 main is to big, but you might try a 260. If it craps out at WOT go back to the 250's.

Ive got a good one..... A kid that was looking to make a few bucks decided to take advantage of a good deal a fellow HQ member was going to give him. The kid planed on buying a swing-arm and then reselling it on ebay to make some money. The kid did not realize that the HQ member was selling it cheap to him because he was trying to help out a fellow HQ member. The guy that was selling it sent the kid a picture of the swing-arm so he could look at it before he bought it. The kid put it up on ebay before he had it and the guy that was selling it saw it. Then he posted a link of it on bansheehq.com and told everyone the story. Then everybody laffed at the kid for being a dumbass. The HQ members decided to bid up his ebay auction to 15,000 and then report him for selling something he dident have.

those little annoying rubber bushings on the seat

I super glued the shit out of them and they have been on for over 5 months. -
Whats a fmf powerlid? What do you have done to the airbox? lid off, just holes drilled, snorkel removed, no airbox? And what is the temp.?
-
chamfer- to cut a furrow in (as a column) : GROOVE I have a mikuni 270 and a dynojet 270 main jet and they both look the same inside. A guy at a well know shop in Tulsa, OK (sandtrax) said that they flow the same. The reason for the jet kit is for people that want the jetting right the first time and dont want to experiment with different needles.
-
Read the instructions, and put the needle clip on #4 groove. If that doesnt clear it up you might have to go down to 220 main jets. note: I have a stage 3 jet kit and it might say a different needle setting, so read your instructions and they should get you right on track.

dident you rip someone off on bluetrax with locogato as your users name?????
-
Yes, fmf fatty's with t5 silencers.
-
Do you just have the airbox lid off or did you take off the whole airbox? just lid off -320 mains whole airbox off-340 mains
-
Hide them in your airbox! They checked me like everytime I went threw the gates at night, but they only checked my coat.
-
I have the dynojet needles and 340 mains in and it runs perfect with my mods (look in sig) with 40 degree weather, 1000ft. elevation, and outerwares on the k&n's. When it was in the 70's it would bog with the outerwares on. Try the dynojet needle on the 4th clip (from the blunt end) and 360 main jets.
-
do what you want to do stoner. I have fmf sst pipes, no airbox just k&n clamp ons, 1000ft. elevation, and 50 degrees out side it runs prefect. Im running 340 mains and dynojet needles. You are very ignorent if you run it like it is, its going to be alot faster IF you put the CORRECT bigger jets in. More flow=pipes & airfilters= bigger jets.
-
1. adjusts the idle 2. is the airscrew (adjust jetting from 0 - 1/8 throttle) Just leave the bike running and adjust the idle first and turn them 1/2 a turn at a time. Let the bike run for 20 sec. between adjust to take change.
-
Leave the pilots alone, they are just fine. The guy at Sandtrax in Tulsa OK, said that hes never had to change a pilot with the dynojet jet kit (even with mild port). Your problem is the main jet. Order some 350-370 main jets and you will be good to go.
-
You will freeze to death, it was around 45 degrees in NE Oklahoma all week (day time) . I dont plan on going until it warms up to atleast 70 ...
