  1. I have never heard of such things. Reed blocks bolt to the motor the same way no matter who the manufacturer is..... I think at least. I don't have hardly any experience with v force reeds though.... Only boyesen, TDR and FMF. Stock too of course..
  2. SDD pretty much hit it on the head. Important point to remember with a banshee. Do NOT bore it looking for more power. You must save the bores for catastrophic engine failure. This is what happened to me last year. I got my shee in the spring. On the first ride, i clogged a main, and smoked the right side. Melted the piston. I rebuilt the top end, and it was already bored .020" over, so I went to .040" over. I then sprung an air leak, and melted the top end, yet again, on the right side. I rebuilt it, and went .050" over. After break in, I let friend take it out while we are hangin' out havin' a camp fire. He comes back, and it blew a hole in the piston. I had the incorrect dome shape, due to a miscalculation that left me with not alot of squish. So, I rebuilt it again, and I cleaned up the cylinders with a hone job and kept it at .050" over. During break in, the lower rod bearing let go, i think due to the fact that i didn't clean out the case very good. That pissed me off. I completely strippd the bike down, and rebuilt from the ground up. New everything. I am now at .060" over, and I still have a couple more bores left. now, think of it this way, what if after the first blow up, I had went to .080" over in search for more power. (which there are minimal gains, not worth the risk). I would have had to re-sleeve the cylinders and that I didn't/wouldn't want to do. It's not necessarily a concern of how much life a cylinder has, but with each overbore, you are reducing the number of times you can seriously smoke the top end and repair it.
  3. I'd got with the 34's.
  4. You beat me to it Bill!!! I was just gonna say the same thing!! Except that todays four strokes actually rev HIGHER than the two strokes. This is of course talking stock for stock. The "old school" way of thinking is over. And the sand would do MORE damage to a four stroker than it would a two. There are ALOT more moving parts that have guides, bearings, bushings and what not in a 4 stroker. Also, I am uunsure myself why everyone fouls plugs on a regular basis. I carry plugs with me on every ride. I have NEVER used them once. On anything I have owned. They always get given to someone else in the riding pack who is not jetted properly. I change my plugs once a season, or if I am trying to diagnose a problem of some sort. It has never been the plugs. Either way, they are cheap. I wouldn't change getting a piece of sand caught in there and becoming dislodged and going into the motor. Even if it does go right out the exhaust. Why take the extra chance.....
  5. Have you seen a stock vs. modded star? It is a definite plus.
  6. I wired a toggle directly from the stator. I came off the yellow wire from the stator, (I have a ricky stator) and went to a switch, and then to the lights. it's not too compicated. I wouldn't even use any of the stock light wiring. I did the same thing with the kill switch. I eliminated it. And I cut all the light stuff from the harness.
  7. That sucks. There has been a recent string of break ins in our area, and it is getting to the point of being ridiculous. They are jacking ATV's, houses, vehicles, everything. I am so worried about my house. I just moved in on Monday, Nov. 3rd. and I haven't gotten security measures taken care of in the garage. There are windows and what not that will be glass blocked in a week or so. What really sucks is right where the heart of the robberies are, my mother in law lives by herself, and these pricks are coming in even while the poeple are home, and tying them up and rob the joint while you watch. That would be the day that some ass hole was robbing me or my family and I caught up with them. Oh boy. I would be going to prison for sure. I hate that shit.
  8. the reason behind racing fuels is that you need the higher octane to resist pre-ignition and detonation. Race fuel alone will not yield any seat of the pants gains on an otherwise stock biike. However, if you bump the compresison up, you better be finding some, or you will be doing a teardown when you blow a hole through the top of the piston. MX bikes are a whole different ball game than a wheeler. They are up there in the compression range from the factory, and have advanced tiing curves unseen by any wheeler stock for stock. Race fuel may have worked like you posted for a stock MX bike, but on a wheeler, it just isn't gonna happen the same....
  9. Castor is a very good oil, and just because rockymountain ATV doesn't sell something, doesn't mean it's junk. I run Klotz Super techniplate, and I have to drive all over hell to find the stuff when I need it. The last few times, i have just ordered a couple gallons from the dealer to save the hassle. I have to plan ahead, but oh well...
  10. Well, being that you cracked the skirt off, I would be prepared for the worst, Having to replace the crank. With that kind of debris, it could get down into the bearings, and do some funny stuff. And I would NOT go to the max bore. Is your bike on the stock bore? did you buy it new? I would get a Wiseco top end kit. I would pull the crank out, (which means splitting of the cases) and send it to TDR (Tony Doukas Racing) for a weld job, and to inspect it. And I would also get some of his reeds. Then I would port your stock reed cages, and send the cylinders off to be bored. Once they get back, I would send them off to be ported by the builder of your choice. Don't go any more than you have to on the bore size. Boring the bike out is not worth it for the minimal gains you will get in power. But, to answer your original question, .100" is the max on a stock cylinder.
  11. If you unplug the black box under the tank, which is adjacent to the ignition coil. This will completely disable the TORS system.
  12. I partially agree. Depending on elevation. What is your elevation? 20 cc would be about the smallest dome size you could comfortably run at most elevations on pump fuel....
  13. I ran my paddles in the snow. Xtreme haulers.
  14. Parting out one of your bikes?
  15. I am currently running FMF fattie pipes. I like them alot. They give a smooth power all the way through. No ridiculous hits to throw you off. I am switching to a drag setup though. So those will likely be coming off soon. I hear the PT mids are excelent for woods and pit riding.
  16. clean your air filter. Make sure it is jetted right. And for cheap mods, you could shave the head, lighten the flywheel, and get the shift star modded for $140 shipped. That will give your bike a quick kick in the ass. And then on top of that, if you hook up a good deal on some pipes on Ebay, you will really wake the bike up. What is done to it now? I assume it is all stock?
  17. Interesting. Glad to see yer back!!!
  18. I feel the same. Mine is lightened. I have never known anyone to hate it. I lighten them, and I have never heard one complaint.....
  19. It's not a tranny problem. My '96 tranny is still going strong. I don't know what this hole is that you speak of, but I am sure someone will have some insight. I know there is the plastic piece that the shift drum buts up against. Also I believe there is a spot where the neutral indicator used to go on the old RZ bikes...
  20. Sorry Led!!! I don't know how I missed this post!!!! I had the EXACT same problem with my bike, and it was the primary wire on the coil not being on all the way and it was also loose. It has happened to me twice so far. I tighten the connector with a pair of pliers and it goes away, but it came back once. I would also check the pickup coil. That could be the problem as well. Backfiring is usually lean, but it can be electrical, and throw you for a loop. Usually the most frustrating problem is a simple one that is overlooked. Check for loose wires, be them ground or other....
  21. It will not fit without some modification. They may be talking about a round carrier though,....
  22. It depends on the oil. SOme people run AMSoil at 100:1. I run Klotz super techniplate at 40:1.
  23. I have never had that happen, but I have woke up in the morning to find my bike gone. And been a very unhappy camper.
  24. I always liked that email when I needed a good laugh...
