  1. Takes forever to bleed new lines. When I put my steel braided lines on my bike, we had to pump the lever like 500+ times.
  2. Ha ha, unfortunately cost wise I will not be able to build a trail bike and a drag bike with your two shee's. Wife would kill me.
  3. I just had my rebuild done last winter by F.A.S.T. I was going to throw a stock stroke crank in and was told a 4 mill is like $20 more if I remember correctly. Yes you need port work to do it the right way. Call a site sponsor, tell them your plans and they will set you up with all the pricing and knowledge you need. That's what they are here for and they aren't out to screw you, they want you to be happy with what you decide on.
  4. I wish I would have got rid of the stock lower brake line mounting tabs. And yes, you can grind off the lower mounting tabs if you aren't running stock pipes any more. Also some choose to modify the stock mounting brackets for the head lights if you plan on running aftermarket lights.
  5. Steering stem seal and bearing for sure. Now is a good time to make modifications to your frame. Gussets and modify the front if you care to and take the time to clean up the rough welds. Powder will clean up the rest.
  6. Welcome to the site. I agree with most, it's not a bad thing buying one in pieces. You have the ability to build the bike you want and you will know everything was pieced back together the right way. I have a stock swinger I would part with cheap. Let me know if your interested. Also take a look in the for sale section. I think you will find a lot of quality parts at a fair price to help you along the way.
  7. They are AC pro peg nerfs that I powdered flat black. I imagine I will see a lot of you down at the HQ ride at Little Sahara. I look forward to seeing your bikes as well.
  8. Noted cam, taking them off today.
  9. I did it similar as you can see, no need to trim plastic though.
  10. The Streamline works great for me and makes a world of difference. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Streamline-7-Steering-Stabilizer-Yamaha-Banshee-Silver-/140599683850?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20bc64eb0a Hope this helps.
  11. Here are the finished pics with the seat now and all cleaned up.
  12. Call Jeff at Farm and Sand Toys Racing, he is a great guy and is a site sponsor. www.farmandsandtoys.com
  13. Soapy water always works for me as well, doesn't have to be baby shampoo.
  14. If the plastics have not been replaced it has to be 05 or newer since that's when they started offering the all blue banshee. Then again, who knows if the plastics have been replaced. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/banshee/color.aspx
  15. I have been running Pro Circuit pipes since having a stock motor to a ported 4 mill and it has always had plenty of low end grunt for the trails as well as giving me enough top end to have fun on the drag strip. In my opinion, I think you will like the Pro Circuits. My buddy has FMF's on a stock motor and doesn't like where the power band is. I am no expert by any means, but I can tell you I have been more than happy with the Pro Circuits. The only way I would consider changing pipes is if I was going to be spending more time on the strip and wanted more top end. I have an 89 and it is a J Arm bike. If your not doing a lot of jumping, I think the J Arms add character. You can always beef them up with a set from Stellar in the future. 89 doesn't have a key or brake light, but that can be added easily.
  16. Just took Friday off, a few of us will be down there late Thursday night.
  17. That sucks, I keep an extra set of boots and gaskets with me every time I goto the dunes just in case. When you dump a ton of money into a motor, you can never be too careful.
  18. Looks real good! Jeff is a great guy and he builds strong motors, he did mine as well.
  19. Bead blast them, tape off surfaces you don't want blasted or powdered. Take all seals and bearings out. We just did a 250r motor.
  20. I say no bumper as well.
  21. That's why I powdered mine.
  22. Yeah I did. If you got a set, I can do them for you.
  23. I just did red and black. Not sure If this helps. But adding another color helps break it up.
