I will be down there next weekend just to check it out. For those of you that have been down there, paddles or dirt tires? I have heard both ways.
Second, is it a good ride or not really worth it?
Serval 4 mill I hear would give you an edge and leave you some room for porting to get a little more power. Your getting to the point where you need to start looking at different top ends for the type of riding you do for more power. I run a play/dune ported 4 mill and other than throwing a different set of carbs and maybe pipes on, I am going to leave it the way it is. Does great on the trails and I really don't have many problems on the drag strip.
Time to focus on suspension to handle the power a little better and then learn to ride it the best I can. Learning to control and ride the bike can actually give you the best gain of all with out dumping a ton of money into it.
I had a trail/woods port on mine before the motor went and the play/dune port really opened it up, granted I only ride sand.
Just ride it the way it is. Seems like you got plenty of power. Now enjoy it. When the motor goes, build a different one. I made the mistake of changing something after each ride and I ended up with a blown motor.
Good plug chop will show a smoke ring about as thick as a dime. Warm the bike up, then shut it off and put a new plug in. Run it pinned through 6th and pull the clutch in, shut off, and coast to a stop. pull the plug out and replace with an old one to get back to the shop to do the chop.
I have always been told and the builder of my 4 mill told me to not keep it at the same rpm for longer than a few seconds or so. Make sure to vary the rpm while warming up at idle and while riding. It is okay to get on it on break in. I haven't had a problem yet,
I let it warm up for about 2 to 3 min blipping the throttle every few seconds. Then road it never keeping the throttle at one spot for longer than a second or two. Did this for about 1/2 to a full tank mixed at 32:1.
Then re torqued all the bolts on the motor.
Did a plug chop after to start fine tuning the jetting.
Just want to make sure I am jetted right or close. 870 elevation, stock carbs, pro circuits, 4 mill with play/dune port, 21cc domes, pods, with 27.5 pilot, 340 main, 4th clip from the bottom mixed at 32 to one.
What radiator cap are some of you running on your built bikes? I had a .9 which is like 13.05 psi. I am going to run the stock one which is a 1.1 that is 15.95 psi. If I understand correctly, built motors will create more pressure in the cooling system because it revs higher. Checking everything again to night.
Anyone have problems with boiling and loosing your coolant. I am using the cap that came with it and i will loose almost half my coolant on a two hour ride. The cap that came with it is a .9 and the stock is a 1.1. Any thoughts guys? I don't like the thought of my radiator being half empty during a ride.
I bought the alum radiator on eBay from a US company that I believe to be known in the industry. Just cant think of the name. I know there has been a debate about them before.
