  1. Top of one of these forums is a download manual which will have specs & test. Or breakdown and buy an old fashioned Clymers Manual, you know, a book made of paper.
  2. What shock are you running? What shock did previos owner use? Did you ever see it mounted?? Maybe post a pic of it, might help figureing it out.
  3. That pic ^^^ shows arm with bushing still in arm. That chunk of shit you show in other pic might be the seal out of dust caps.
  4. Swapping plug wires helps diagnos bad wire, cap or issue with stator, as both plugs fire at same time. Ohm plug caps, cit wires back 1/4' for "fresh" contact. Check pick up gap at both nubs on flywheel. Try cleaning needle seat with tooth paste and Q-tip. Float needle look good? On my son's 'shee I cleaned the rust off stator poles and flywheel nubs and st gap to clear one sided miss.
  5. I would use either soda or walnut shells.
  6. You clutching or not? Could be grooved basket. Shift shaft mod, star mod, easy shift kit should solve rest of problems. If you're making crazy power then you need to mod tranny.
  7. My guess is that the ball got welded to the rod and either is stuck in shaft or welded to actuator arm. Unless you know it needs a top end why not run it? Pull the clutch basket and spin crank with impact to get a comp test. Try magnet in shaft to see if you can pull rod out of shaft. Speed is only limited by cubic dollars.
  8. still have tors hooked up (brain box)?
  9. I don't know a lot, but sounds like a description of GAY ASS RAPTOR style plastic http://www.maier-mfg.com/catalog/yamaha-yfz350-banshee-custom-front-fender talking about this?
  10. Have you checked your reeds? What does the spark look like?
  11. IIRC, it's 70-75 max. Maybe look for a LED clearance light for back.
  12. If I can ask, what are you wanting to use this on?
  13. Look at a Polaris Outlaw or Predator, one has remote resi. No clue if it would work with linkage.
  14. This is simular to my son's except long rod and regular Weisco pistons. It's not an arm ripper by most standards but it's a very tractable trail setup. If you need a crank anyways it's a good option. His is down right now for a new crank, is going back together same way unless he changes his mind. I will be dropping port floors for the 4mil, but not much else. Just remember, no matter what you have there is ALWAYS someone faster.
  15. List your current mods. Befor you tear it apart do a compression and leakdown test. Have you tried cleaning the carbs? Checked the reeds? Both those items can cause hard starting. Look on any of the sponser sites and decide if a 421 will "break the bank"
  16. What I ment was if you ran it bone dry you might have gotten some crap in the carbs. If they are stock carbs clean them one at a time as the parts are different, and don't forget to attach choke tube between carbs when done.
  17. If it's in reasonable condition otherwise and has some aftermarket things it might be an ok buy. I would try to talk him down, unless owner is a friend I'd lay a line of shit, some of which may be true. One other thought I had is it may have short rod pistons on long rods. Either way you will probably have to buy something after you figure it out.
  18. https://docs.google.com/a/amberwaystables.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B0CQb1pV1ycgMDQ3NjQ4ZTUtMjRlMC00Y2UwLTlkNzctNGY4ZGIxYjZhMDI1&hl=en_US Wang dang sweet poontang
  19. Somewhere on this site is a linc to a download manual. You gotta look for it, should be a sticky at the top of a section. I'm an old fart, I got a plain old fashioned book.
  20. When in doubt, read the destructions
  21. So do you actually own it, or going to get it if you can fix it?
  22. That number won't tell you jack. How far is the piston sticking out of the jug? Bet Phelps is right.
  23. Post a pic of that piston if you could. What does cyl look like?
  24. If it were air supply it would be sluggish at all temps. If it were cooling it would run fine from warm till overheating. What has happened (IMO) is like having it jetted for no lid then slappin a lid on. Either tune for the set-up or change the set-up.
  25. Did you run trans dry? What all did you replace? Was it all stock? Pre-soak plates?
