  1. Take soft solder, bend in "L" shape, 1 1/2 leg. Insert in plug hole with leg same direction as pin. Turn motor over to "Squish" solder. remove and measure at thinnest point. That will give clearance between head and piston. IIRC, .045 is about min, and might be to small for 93 oct. If I haven't explained this correctly, someone please correct me.
  2. What is the damage being done ??
  3. Just checking that you didn't need stroker domes. IIRC, .030 is about max. Maybe check your squish now and see how much you can take off. What you planning to run for fuel?
  4. If by chance you painted flywheel, clean timing nubs and set gap
  5. Are you running a spacer under the cylinders?
  6. All I can do is WELCOME you as I'm a dirt rider . Nice to see someone a bit older than me , not much tho.
  7. Daddy, can I go over to Tyler's? He wants to SPANK MY ASS. JMHO, your resulte may, and will vary.
  8. No other mods? What do plugs look like? Check your reeds.
  9. Double check float level too. Brass washer under main jet? Slosh baffel in?
  10. If you don't have a Clymers manual there might be a download somewhere on here to get the values. Other than Clymers is in error on secondary procedure, you test plug wire to plug wire. Check that ALL connections are clean and tight, same with grounds, be sure ground for coil is bare metal and is tight. Might also try cutting 1/4" off plug wire and re-install cap. Did I mention ALL conections? Little dab of dielectric grease helps also, even on coil ground.
  11. How can I ever miss you if you won't go away?
  12. Yep. Don't over torque them tho.
  13. Have him explain how the polarity changes, coil is grounded and stator puts out + volage. For 500 bones it better make a hell of a difference if he plans on selling them other than as snake oil Be glad you got it for free. Also tell him he better get some dyno sheets as I'm sure I'm not the only "Doubting Thomas"
  14. Any chance to get eye to eye measurement on that shock?
  15. Have to notice on that listing that it has max load and TZ brg. Might want to check on having TZ, think you have to run straight cut gears with it.
  16. That's the thing with jetting, can't do it from behind a key board. Try the next sieze larger pilot and see how it works. Might also think of upping main with the temp change.
  17. Flywheel puller is specific to Banshee/Blaster, only way to do it, sorry. Only about $20. Be sure center bolt is backed all the way out when threading it into wheel.
  18. And to think our electric bill helps to put their name on the sign
  19. If your compression gauge is in doubt, try another. Be sure that the thread in adaptor is same length as your spark plug. If it's shorter you will read up to ten lbs. lower. Do you have head off yet? When you pull it off take a look at cylinder walls, how do they look? Maybe post pics. If you are so inclined, pull the pipes and reeds off and look at the pistons. Are they scored badly? How do rings look through ex port? If in doubt, post pics. As to piston clearance, that has to be measured with micrometers, you can't just jamb a feeler gauge down in there. At this point I would put the cool head on and see what you have for compression. You know you could have just milled your head. But hey, now you have a "cool" head. As to search function, I think it blows major donkey balls. I've tried + and " ", but I'm computer compentancy challenged (P.C. Bullshit ). Sometimes you have to do it the old fashioned way and just LOOK. I'm sure not every thread says use search, as a lot of it has to do with how a person comes across with their "tone of voice". Texting shorthand, ghetto slang shit, run-on sentences don't fly well here.
  20. Between Pine Knob and Mt. Holly. (It will never be DTE Music theater in my old brain)
  21. Look in your owners manual, it might tell how to adjust idle. There is a knob (about 12mm in diameter) on top of each carb, adjust both same amount. Will only need a little, maybe 1/16- 1/8 turn. What has happened is that cables strech and parts wear ever so slightly and you have to adjust for it. Also, check/clean your air filter.
  22. On comp test Wide open throttle, kick till gauge stops moving. Plug adaptor must be same length as plug threads. Did you set float heights? What jets were you running before and did plug chop show it was good? Are you talking air box lid or whole air box? Decide how you want to run it and tune for that. When you get back at it start with new plugs. Be sure you have float bowls on correct carb, they are different. Be sure crossover tube is on and slides are in correct carb. Reclean carbs and be sure you can blow air through all passagesl. What did plugs look like from summer riding?
  23. Where you located?
  24. Have to take into consideration he is at 4200 ft. If his neighbor is at 100, he might be ok, maybe little low. One of the site sponsers had a chart showing drop with rise in elevation. If someone doesn't chime in, maybe call one of the site sponsers, tell them your elevation, they'll let you know where you're at. Ditch the boost bottle, either get factory tube or just plug them up. It will run fine without a crossover. Be very careful about ANY air leaks. BTW, Welcome to BHQ !! Learn all about your machine by reading lots of threads, use the search, then ask questions.
