  1. Got the choke tube connected? Are you sure the TORS is disconnected? Got the right slides in the right carbs and bowls are back on their own respective carbs?
  2. They can be stubborn if they are siezed or otherwise mangled and locked up on the axle. There is the clymers manual for a written procedure to guide you along
  3. What elevation you at? I'm at 800' and when I put mine on last summer I ended up with 340 mains, 27.5 pilot, and I believe I leaned the clip out one position. Started at 300 and went up from there, even though I thought I'd be working my way down Do some plug chops to see for yourself, you may very well end up with a smaller main than I had. I also had added a K&N with proflow adapter-- I think this breathes a little easier than your foam one and would require more fuel. Hope this helps! There are a few others on here with SSTs, maybe they have more advice to give you. Did you have any fitment issues with the pipes BTW?
  4. Do you stand your bike on the grab bar for cleaning or loading? That would do it!
  5. When you do this air should not be able to get by. If it does you need to clean or replace the needle/seat. This is certainly your problem with the gas. Try tapping on the side of the bowl with the handle of a screwdriver, this will sometimes help the needle valve seat initially after the carb has been off and jostled around a bunch. Look in your owner's manual or clymers for instructions on syncing carbs-- no micrometer is needed!
  6. When you were checking the carbs did you check the needle and seat by turning the carbs upside down and blowing in the fuel intake? What do the plugs look like when it is acting up?
  7. Word to the wise, check with good ole sectretary of state to see if you have to title your bike to honor insurance policies. I had insurance on my shee all last year and found out that i basically pissed about 170 bucks away cause in Michigan you have to title your vehicle. That way uncle sam gets to line his pockets again and again! Can't even show them a bill of sale, they strictly go by Blue Book value. Six percent on 3450 for the 04 Shee and 3000 for an 88 250r! That adds to initial start up cost of insurance in Michigan My carrier at the time, Progressive, didn't mention that when I started my policy.
  8. You've got a stock bike?
  9. Stock or aftermarket? I've got some stockers that were barerly ridden off my '04.
  10. The thing that gets me is when your bidding and these bidders that your against have no prior purchases or feedback but they're bidding on high dollar quads. Something should be done about that!
  11. You should do a plug chop and see for yourself. Maybe you had an air leak when you burned up your last top end?
  12. Yeah, I have one and it is pretty much a joke. Velcros front and rear and elastic on the sides. Problem is it isn't quite wide enough so the sides don't want to make any filtering attempt, they want to leave an air gap with the sides of the airbox. Will require some ingenuity to make work properly.
  13. Don't know what a 11.6 pilot is, stock is 25 and go up from there. Id try 27.5's before jumping right into 30s. Mains could be lean, Im at 800' as well and with pipes and single k&n mine took 340s. That seemed big compared to most but i'd try 300s and do a proper plug chop! Those filters will definately lean the bike out!
  14. What kind of air filter set-up?
  15. You should send them your pic cause it looks better on your bike! I was looking for a cover and saw that one but it looked cheap. I might have to reconsider now,
  16. Have you looked at the plugs right after it dies? You should try that next time, it may explain a few things. You should do a proper plug chop (SEARCH) to check the main jet. A guess off the top of my head would be float height or a dirty/sticking needle/seat.
  17. Tighten the axle nuts and loctite them!
  18. Don't get too excited, yet! Try tapping the bowls with the handle of a screwdriver. If that fails, take the carbs off and flip them upside down. Blow in the fuel intake nozzle. If you cant blow into into them the needle is seating but your float height may need adjusting. If air gets by, clean the needle/seat and check it for wear. Disassemble them and clean them with carb cleaner and compressed air. If they did't leak before you tore them out in the first place they probably just need a good cleaning/adjusting.
  19. What idle on the choke? You have an aftermarket single carb? If not, try turning both air screws out 1 1/2 turns, and make sure you put the choke tube back in place--thats the little 3" hose that connects the carbs together.
  20. Check to see if your needle is bent or maybe sand is getting in there at the dunes.
  21. Curious as to why I get more compression with the "short" threaded insert than the one with the same amount of threads as a spark plug. I would have thought it would be the other way around, considering there is less room for the air to "squish". The results were pretty significant, too. 10psi difference. Someone set me straight, or tell me to go fuck myself at least
  22. It always sucks waiting 2-3 times longer for things than originally quoted, though Most builders are not planners or schedulers and usually aire to the most optimistic dates for some reason (business?). Hopefully it will run so good when you get it back that all this waiting will seem nothing more than a little wrinkle in the space/time continuum. Life goes on, at least no one shot your dog.....
  23. That looks fast WITHOUT the motor!!! Keep the pics comin'...........
  24. No, thats pretty normal. Mine is pitted and rust has set in on the pits! It has very few hours on it. Hard spot to have any chrome, I guess.
  25. Cut those threads off!
