  1. I just ordered the Pro Design adapter w/ K+N filter as well as a pre-filter for the box. Right now, all I've got is the dual stage Toomey foam filter that came with the T6's wrapped around the stock white plastic filter frame. The thing runs damn good now, and the plugs are a nice tan color. Right on the money. I am ordering a set of the V-Force 3 reeds/cages, so hopefully those won't be much harder to jet for. The Toomey booklet says that their jetting specs (what I have it at right now) are "perfect" for their pipes, with stock OR V-Force 3 reeds. Can anyone vouche for that? Oh yeah, to hold the Toomey filter in place during my trip to the dunes, I tapped two sheet-metal screws through the white plastic cage into the air box itself to hold it in place....works well. It's just that the foam seal around the stock filter cage is deteriorating, and the O-ring setup would be much better.
  2. So I got the T6's for my '02 shee a while back. I drilled holes in the airbox lid, apparantly in a place that didn't help at all, and 'jetted' it. It still ran like crap. I've been trying to jet it for a very long time now (almost sold it twice from frustration), and just now thought "Hey, what would it run like if I just took the lid off?" So I did. Wow. Before, I was getting beat by my friend on his YFZ by about 1 1/2 bikes up a 100 yard hill. He got cocky, pissed me off, and I got even more frustrated. So I called him after my little air box lid deletion for another trip to the dunes. So, all cocky like, he rode a wheely over to the line, as I putted over, then proceeded to smoke him 6 times in a row. In front of his girlfriend. I'm adding on some V Force 3's, hopefully they'll give me a little more kick, too.
  3. Pulled the carbs off, and no air seeps through when blowing in the inlet while their upside down. Floats are set....again.... I was wondering if there are supposed to be clamps on each end of the crossover tube? I don't have any and it seems pretty loose-fitting. I'm thinking maybe the carbs aren't synced after all. I was just eye-balling them. I ordered a Clymer's manual two days ago, so I won't be able to read how to (correctly) do that for about a week. Could anyone paraphrase it for me? Oh yeah, the plugs are both a dark, dark color. Not completely black though, and not wet. (Too rich?) Also, I ran the Klotz Be-nol oil for a while, until I found out that it's for racing-specific motors. Mine's bone stock basically. Could that be giving me some trouble? I'll switch back to my normal HP-2 and see if that makes a difference. Thanks.
  4. Well, I've only got my brakes bled so far....man those are a pain. I'll get to the carbs a little later today, still a lot of work left to do.
  5. I forgot about that. I just got off work and am about to go work on the thing. Thanks for the tips. Hopefully I'll be able to get this thing running strong again.... I've still got to - Allign the front-end Tear apart carbs Tear apart brake caliper (brakes are dragging baaad) Adjust parking break (The threads are at their limit....now what?) Tighten/lube the chain Paint rust spots Grease all zerks... I know the Toomey book has recommendations for needle clip position/main jet sizes, but anyone know a good combo for T6's at sea level? Does buying Toomey's jet kit make a difference? Looks like I better get to it.
  6. I did sync my carbs last summer, and haven't been able to ride much since then, so I'm assuming they're still fine, but I will check that tommorow. I just eyeballed it, so I'm assuming the proper way is with the micrometer. I'm wondering if the right slide is gunked-up. I did remove the needle valve and cleaned it....same time as I synced them. Same with the main jet, etc. At the first cleaning, one of the mains was plugged, but was fine afterwards. I have set the floats to the nearest mm several times, to the book's specs. In fact, I just went out there a few minutes ago, and yet ANOTHER puddle uner the thing. Ggggrrrrr..... I didn't know about the blowing into the fuel intake trick, so I'll try that tommorow, too. I'll post up tommorow night.
  7. Hey there. I thought I'd try out this forum to get some much-needed help. I've posted at other forums, and haven't gotten any really good advice. I've got an '02 which is bone stock minus the Toomey T-6's, uni-filter, and jet kit. My first problem is that my carbs will NOT stop leaking out of the overflow tubes. I can't count how many times I've torn the things apart, cleaned them, blown out all the jets, put them back together, and, it STILL leaks. I've set float heights, checked and rechecked for clogged jets, set float heights again, and adjusted all setting s back to square one. No luck. My second problem is a lagging right cylinder. The left one seems to be firing fine, while the right has a slugish *pow.........pow...pow..........pow.pow.pow........pow............................pow* to it. It's probably linked to the overflowing carbs, but I'm not sure. This could be a simple fix that I'm just overlooking. Any help??
