A new top end is generally bore, hone, new pistons, gaskets, fluids and labor. Bore is 90 to 120 for a set of cylinders. Top end kit with all gaskets is 180. So they're hitting you for 500, give or take, for labor.... get a detailed estimate....go from there. Did you clean the bike before you brought it to them. I've worked on dirty, muddied up bikes and charged a few bucks extra just because you shouldn't have to clean someone else's SHIT.

Stock heads SHOULD be the same, but I've seen the dome cc vary from 22 to 24, to be honest. Start with a list of all your mods...and your current jetting. Both pistons? Wow...usually one goes before the other. Time to tear it all down, check the crank, bearings, etc... Possibly air leak, lack of octane or lean jetting....
-
Damn...and I thought I already had that pounded into your head... Carry on... On a side note, Jaxy....I still can't believe that was a piston. reminds me of the "Space Poopie" from Joe Dirt. You sure there's no peanuts in there?

Happy ending... LOL...sorry, had to.
-
Or.... How much timing do you have and what is your compression? They both add heat in a hurry...

It'll be ported in the next month or so...whether I build another motor or not. If I build the motor, it'll be chassis, everything. Basically my whole bike will be for sale again....beginning to be a yearly exercise with me, one reason I'm thinking twice about it.... Ok guys...I'm going to let you off the hook. Here's my new bike.... http://www.planetsand.com/forums/ubbthread...1959#Post771959 :notworthy:

As said on the E2S. Either leave the 30s in and turn your air screws to 2.5 turns out, or put stockers back in and turn the air screws .5 turns out. People drill main jets for methanol because you drill them from .110 to .125. Easily found in a drill index... You'd probably need a .00 something for the pilots...and when it's all said and done, how do you know you're not going to plug the small holes on the outside... You're going to ruin your weekend of riding by taking this chance? Use the air screws....

EZ Pull lever AND new clutch cable. You'll be surprised how easy the pull is with 3HD/3 stock and a new perch, lever and cable. Like a brand new 125 on the showroom floor...

cast is just that, made from two pieces of metal, forged is cut from one solid chunk. It's all about clearances... If the cylinder can be honed and the pistons are still within clearance specs, re ring it and be done. If they're not within spec, get it bored and new pistons/rings.... I'd stick to Wiseco, but a few builders I'd trust have had good luck with WSM as well. Stay away from the Namura junk...

Get better pipes, T5, Trinity, FMF SST or Fatties for starters if you can. Get normal pistons, the SS Vitos are junk IMO. Mill the head .020 and get a timing advance plate and set it at +4. And get rid of the TORS kit. WHen you really want to start moving out...get it ported.

Sorry guys... been on the road ALL day, just got back from Battle Creek and Coldwater... I'm not saying what it is unless it's really gonna happen. Ever get all excited about something...tell a few people...only to have things change and it not happen? I'm keeping my yap shut... IF it does happen, you guys know I'll tell you exactly what I'm running, I don't play that Sneaky Stealth shit, this is what I got, beat it if you can (as you both have) and I'm content with just having fun with the guys!
-
Well...JT....and probably Dan... :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: Naw...the 10 got away just fine last year, but if I can build bigger for little to no out of pocket, makes sense to...
-
No disrespect....but I feel RS products are garbage... I'm on my second one in as many years. I've heard of a lot of grumbling about the quality of their part, especially the 200W high output version. Neither of the Stators I got from him were trimmed right at the pickup coil, either.... A less experienced person could have very well set the gap wrong and had a dead bike, or very poorly running one. All you'd have to do is trim the excess plastic... OEM Stators are the only way to go....
-
Get a boost bottle...LOL.. Just kidding... If you're willing to take your cylinders off...get them ported. Night and day difference. As said, boring is only used to keep the top end fresh and tight, unless you go to a BIG BORE kit, you really won't get any power gains from it, noticeable ones...anywho. Start with telling us what mods you have now...that will kinda help us to help you... And I thought you were bansh-eman's long lost brother....he he he...

Sounds like just the snorkel...unless he's confused snorkel vs. air lid...
-
TORS removed? He has an air box and lid on...he mains are probably close.

swingarmshop on ebay makes good arms. Tdub does, but they're pricey... Metaltech makes very nice ones as well, I love my 14 over!
-
It keeps them from separating the crank webs from the journals...

Run stock gearing...15/46 is almost the same as 14/42, stock gearing...just a hair different. If anything, go to 15/42...with the new motor, it should pull that gearing just fine. You'll be fine with 33PWKs on a ported stroker motor. The stroker will give you some bottom end and torque. Are you going to raise the compression and/or advance the timing? Both of those will help restore some bottom and midrange... Bump the compression up to 145 PSI or so, and advance the timing to +4 degrees. That should run fine on premium pump gas...and give you a kick in the seat to boot.
-
The dirt bike should smoke you, beginning to end....as should the LT500. The LT450 should beat you....but the warrior won't even be a race. The other bikes either are poor in tune, worn out...or the guys can't ride or you're just that good of a rider. The 450 LT should be a close race with you if it's bone stock. Put a muffler, air filter and cherry bomb on that, and it should beat a PIPED ONLY banshee all day long.
-
NO offense, but have you thought about how shitty that thing will be jumping with all that extra weight? I'd get a Lonestar axle, lifetime warranty no questions asked. Pricey...but you're in a pricey game now... I'd slam that bike and make it a dragger and get something else for dune riding... I think with the motor weight, offset center of gravity, etc., it'll ride like crap for trails and overall duning/jumping, etc.

Wow...you send that many but plugs and french ticklers out to your friends and customers....WOW? That's testing a lot of product yourself, isn't it...?? LMBO
-
Well...I greatly appreciate the tip and help as always Ted. Very good to know, and I think I'll be picking some of this stuff up. Jeff...why don't you stock some to make it easier.... I think with the sponsorship you offer JT and myself, it should be included in our contracts.... :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: (** Legal Disclaimer, Jeff does not sponsor myself or JT, it was a JOKE, please do not PM any of us asking how to be sponsored by FAST racing. ONLY a JOKE...**)
-
Upper end lube, my buds on 4 pokes with meth use this stuff. Ted...are you saying use this as a substitute for oil in your purge gas? Or in addition to premix oil in your purge gas??

You guys might see a 10 mil cub up for sale....soon...
