  1. I run a 14 over 14 paddle...I'm also 250LBs. Most run 10 to 15 over, 12 to 15 paddle tires. You'll want paddles for the track and dunes. If you do a search for Silver Lake Dunes, Mears or Hart, MI...they will all give you a general Idea how far it is. The ATV Bash is at West Michigan Dragway, and the strip is literally 10 minutes from the dunes. Keep in mind, you'll need ORVs and Spark arrestors for the dunes. I never got sound checked all last year, but they do check spark arrestors, we all use the Sparky kind that clamps onto the end of your silencer pipes....
  2. AWESOME...I'd love to see a Herr Juggs racing cub motor. I really want to run Brad too...see how his bike stacks up to another 10 mil on sand... I believe it's the last weekend in June, post on PS about it. Lemme see.... Yep, last weekend in June. They run bars at the track, but not in the dunes. http://www.planetsand.com/forums/ubbthread...6941#Post716941 It will be an absolute riot...for sure. Normally...someone can come up with some paddles for you...if you can't get some by then... That's how we roll around here...
  3. Have you tried this with any other oil to substantiate that claim?? Plenty of people have cold/hot seized their motors, freed it up...and kept on running them, I'm sure they're not all running amsoil. There are a lot of factors other than oil that will keep a top end in good shape, you obvioiusly know that. Keeping the carbs/jetting in a good state of tune, and most importantly keeping a clean and properly oiled air filter is the key.... My 96 still had the original top end on it until i tore it down in the spring of 2006 when i went to a 4 mil cub, it never had a drop of amsoil in it, only Super M and premium gas, compression was a respectable 105 or 110 PSI after 10 years of use, summer, winter, etc...
  4. reason I know is because I bought pipes from strokerace that he thought were for a cub. they were too small for his DM motor, but too big for my cub. I sold them to my buddy Rob who has either a 14 or 16 mil cheetah...fit perfect. So... I know there are at least three flange sizes, stock to 14 mil cubs all take the same, small flange (same size as stock, I don't know off hand the measurement, 46mm maybe??) When I split a weld in my new shearers (warrantied no problem) I borrowed a set of big bore, small flange CPI Stinger pipes off my buddy...same thing no biggie...
  5. call 'em or send them an email...good question.... I can't go to their website, I've ruined many a keyboard drooling over their products...
  6. DO A SEARCH.... It's been covered a gazillion times, and you'll get just as many different answers...
  7. Just get yer paddles, head on over to MI and come to have some fun already will ya?? I know it's a ways away...but the ATV bash is gonna be a total riot. You guys need to figure out how to make it for that!!
  8. Two years on mine, 1 year on race fuel 1 year on methanol...still look great. And I've got a lot of WOT passes on them.... I think they're a good mod once you get porting, etc. However, TDR reeds on stock ported cages are almost as good. What the VFs benefit from is twice the reed surface area....
  9. Too bad it'll be a 4.2 with your rear tires tripping the beams.... LOL... You about ready for some ice yet?
  10. Sorry dude... The oil wasn't the cause of the problem. Cheap parts, improper clearances or not warming it up properly was the cause of that... I ran Super M at 40:1 in my gas bike, and run benoil in my alky bike...but I'm going to switch to Super Techniplate for my alky due to it staying suspended in alky better than benoil... I personally think Amsoil is garbage....
  11. Hey...that's moving out big time on a stock motor bike with no override/lockup or bar (at the time of the .33) Congrats...you're getting it done for sure.
  12. I wouldn't trust 105 octane on 200 PSI plus... Crankcase seal won't effect cranking compression test. My old 4 mil had a bad crank seal and a BADLY leaking base gasket, still had 185 PSI, sealed it all up, same...
  13. Call CPI.. Not true, Keil... I have Big Bore Shearers but small flange for my 10 mil cub... Very little difference between the two... They are made in several flange sizes, cub (stock) bigger cheetah, DM...probably a few more.
  14. Alky is a real bitch to tune in the cold climate, the bikes are VERY hard to start on alky ...ether will be your new best friend. And you have to feed a lot more fuel to the motor, because it's so cold out...IMO, alky isn't nearly as much of a power increase vs. summer months. There are a lot of people that smoke motors on the ice with alky... I have plans of a drag chassis, NOS and a wheelie bar for next year sand season. I don't want to waste money on rebuilding a motor because I got a little greedy...
  15. Nice camera... Wish I had more parts laying around, I'd trade up with $$ for sure... Once you go Digital SLR, all other digital cameras just don't compare!! Good luck to ya...
  16. I dunno, Brad... Some of the dirt tracks allow for chisels and ice picks, don't they? I can't imagine hooking up any better than that....except pavement maybe... I know before I hit the ice with my ice chisel tires, I'll be making a bar for mine!!
  17. I'm sure the cost of delivery for me would be outrageous.. I'm gonna see what I can have delivered around here...I'll build a little platform for it and everything. Either that, or I just buy two cans and leave them with you...LOL... I won't need alky till sand season, going back to gas for the ice.
  18. I will say this...in any 4 poke vs 2stroke comparison, everyone always compares them in drag racing. Why? Because forever and a day, the banshee was the king (and in modified form still is)... You never read somone saying...I went to a GNCC track or MX track and smoked all the 450s... Is there a SMALL handful of folks that still ride shee's in those areas...sure. Just like there are still people that prefer typewriters over a computer and word processor... So...that being said, the 450s are built for track and trails, the fact they hold their own drag racing, on a strip, with your buddies in a field or down a road is just icing on the cake... I think you all know how much I love banshees and how much dedication I have to them. That being said...if I could afford it, I'd have a piped, cam'd and jetted 450 for playing on trails and as a duner bike for fun. They are just so much fun to ride, and easy to ride for a longer time!!
  19. Shayne... I've stepped back and taken your approach on a lot of things, I try not to disbelieve anything anymore... Damn near anything can happen, and there are a few freak bikes out there that flat out haul the mail. But...I think you and I and JT (along with our PS/Michigan racing buddies) have been to the track enough, seen enough bikes run, etc., to say those are VERY impressive numbers... I'm sure there are faster tracks out there than the ones in MI, but my bike runs times within a tenth at all three tracks we ride at...so it's hard for me to believe the tracks out there are that much faster than our own tracks. I could see if one track we ride was 2 to 3 tenths slower than the others...but, they're not. However, as said...anything is possible.....
  20. Jeff, that's a 4 mil, and I'm sure it had an override as well...no?
  21. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying without time slips...I find it very hard to believe... Considering the best built 350 ran 3.8 or 3.9 and that was drag frame, override, alky, lockup...120lb jockey...etc. JT...I think we wasted a lot of money on our motors if we could turn those numbers on a gas motor in a stock frame....with no override....
  22. Sam...sorry again man, a 250 R with ONLY a pipe and reeds will get beat by a piped 450, let alone a fully built one. A 250R was the king in it's day of motocross, track and trail...but the 450s are light years better out of the box and light mods. I've spent a LOT of time at the strip and the dunes...someone isn't being straight with you. The 450 doesn't have as much as you've been told, the 250R has a TON more than what you're told, or neither of those riders know how to ride a 4 stroke....
  23. That's impressive...how long of a swingarm, who ported the motor and how much did the rider weigh?
  24. Sorry Sam..but BS. A piped and jetted 450 will beat a piped and jetted banshee all day long. Bolt on mods only, a 450 will win... Once you port a banshee...then it's all over for the 4 pokes... YOu don't have to have much mods on a 450 at all to beat a bolt on banshee.... Anytime you start to heavily mod anything, reliability goes down and $$ and price of upkeep go up.
  25. Big problem is moving that som bitch...55 gallons of fuel is quite a few hundred pounds!!
