  1. I've ran them w/o, and it won't hurt anything, but if you ride some really rough terrain, it prevents air bubbles from getting into the jets and running lean...so I'd buy another one for motor sake.
  2. I have those ports in my stroker...try a smaller pilot. How does it start?? Do you need the choke?
  3. Sounds backwards. 3 turns out makes it leaner on the pilot....Try turning it in to a .5 turn out and see if it starts better...needing the choke after 30 minutes sounds like a lean pilot. Try a 27.5 pilot and go from there. Trial and error, make sure you readjust the air screws.
  4. You don't need any mods w/ the PTR's. My original setup was w/ a head mod, +4 timing, and boysen petals and it was running perfect...The ptr will be a definate for banshee freestyle. The power is a lot more smoother, more predictable and a very nice throttle response. NO erractic hit, just hard pulling right from the bottom. Good luck and give us your oppinion when you switch over.
  5. Those plug pics look like normal riding or idling time on them. You have to run the shee in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, shut it down, coast to a stop and then pull the plugs and take a pic. Gurannteed, they'll look totally different.
  6. If its still breaking up and missing w/ a 320 then the 350 will probably work, but might still be lean. Make sure you do a plug check. I've seen jets up to over 480's and still go higher. They are the same jets we run in the sleds. STock 800's are running 450's, so you have a ways to go....
  7. 1/2 throttle or more is controlled by the mains.... The pilots control your idle and off idle. So if your shee starts hard and doesn't like to idle, then go to a larger pilot. It'll also help w/ hesitation when coming onto the throttle..Run your shee wide open throttle for 5-10 seconds in 6th gear, shut it down, coast to a stop and check your plugs. The tips should be a dark brown, not tan, not white, not black..Adjust your mains to your plugs. Do not adjust pilots or needles to the plugs, only the mains. If you have a plug fouling problem, then one of the circuits is running extremely rich. Could be the mains, pilots, or needles..but you have to find which one.. you can be running rich on one circuit and lean on the other. So adjust the mains like I said and give us some feedback on the idle to off idle and how well the shee starts when cold and hot, and whether you need the choke..
  8. Hesitation is caused by a lean pilot or needle. Spitting and sputtering like the choke is on is a rich condition...Raise the needle for richening and lower the needle for leaner... 1st clip toward blunt end = lean 5th clip toward point end = rich..
  9. 230 main in a mikuni!!!!! your way too lean. try a 350 and go from there. I'd think that would still be too lean, but see if it'll run clean..
  10. I have both. The high revs shift the curve slightly, not as much as I'd expect...If your looking for lots of low end , then definately go for the Pt mids, hands down you won't regreat it. They don't rev as high, but have more torque and can pull a larger gear giving you the top end of a high rev and better abilitly to slow down and get back on it w/o shifting as much...If you ride 90% of the time in 1-4 gears then get the mids...
  11. larger pilots...
  12. I'd start w/ a 160 and go from there.
  13. I've bought items through them for over 7 years now and never had a problem...Sorry to hear about your experience though Ron...
  14. You soooo lucky!!!!
  15. The tors system is to prevent a sticking throttle, but it fails easily and will mess w/ your timing or ignition..Sometimes it'll make it like a rev limiter where the powerband won't even kick in and other times, it'll cut the spark out completely, so sometimes someone will think its jetting, but could be the tors system..If you disconnect some of the wires but not the "brain" black box, then it'll still mess w/ the spark...
  16. You might want to pm sredish. He has some good experience w/ the 2 into 1 setup...last I heard, he claimed the EEJ needle made a HUGE difference on his shee....He also was running like a 230 main and ended up lowering the main after he changed the needle...
  17. Have you disconnected the black box above the left exhaust yet??
  18. I've already posted in another thread. Make sure you disconnected the 3-wire plug above the left exhaust from the little black box, then disconnect the parking brake switch on the handlebars....follow the wire towards the gas tank and disconnect it at the connection...I'd start there first. Your mains won't affect idle to 1/2 throttle...wouldn' t hurt to raise the needles and try that though. Might have some hidden performance there for you.l..
  19. Your mains mostly control wide open throttle. If you want to richen 1/4-3/4 throttle, then raise the needles to the 4th clip from the blunt end...
  20. nice all around pipes, very comparable to fmf fatties....I liked them..
  21. You said you disconnected the tors.....Did you disconnect the 3-wire plug above the left exhaust?? Disconnect the parking brake switch....thats what it sounds like to me....
  22. Try raising the needles if the pilots aren't helping...You basically have 3 circuits of jetting. Get all 3 perfect and the right combo and the shee will pull at every throttle range..
