  1. I'd try the 1st clip, no doubt, you might be able to gain just as much as the first time... ARe you running stock pilots or larger???
  2. Really....thats surprising, I'd start w/ a 300 main, needle 4th clip from the blunt end, stock pilots and go from there..
  3. He's full of shit...you can run the stock needles as well as run the stock pilots...You have it right, other can only suggest jetting to get you close. I've jetted some T5's and liked the stock pilots better along w/ the stock needles. those toomey needles don't work for shit that I've seen...Best way to find out is to play around yourself and find out what works best for you...
  4. I believe the 30's have different needles, then the 33-35's, but I had a problem last year that sounds similiar to your problem, it ended up being a bad flywheel...Go figure. A screw came off my stator and destroyed my stator and flywheel so I borrowed one from another member while we were in California..my shee would run great till the upper rpms, then spit and sputter, changed the jetting numerous times. Got back to Maine and got a new flywheel and stator and walla, problem fixed...sometimes ignition problems resemble carb or jetting problems. Just thought I'd give you my experience..
  5. I would start w/ a 320 mains and go from there...Gorr would have a better idea though..porting is more finicky when it comes to jetting, it'll vary more from one builder to another.
  6. I'd be surprised if you end up over a 250 main, but better to start rich and work down..
  7. Pc pipes like a richer pilot compared to most others. If your shee runs great and idles great, then I wouldn't worry about it. If your really concerned, then do a leak down test to see if you have an air leak..
  8. Ditto
  9. Be careful of him. He'll get you hung over, then film you the next morning!!! Ask Cotten-eyed-Joe... Or Reas...
  10. Depending on porting, you should be around 250-280 mains, stock pilots (25), try the needles in different clip positions..start w/ the 3rd and then try the 4th from the blunt end..
  11. I agree, Eric Gorr should be the first person to ask...also we need to know what kind of carbs your running....
  12. There recommendations can be way off..
  13. Don't worry about the dyno chart, that is just to compare mods, you can't compare numbers to others. I do my dynoing on a car dyno, I have 8 straps holding my quad in place w/ my shocks x'd out and tires half sqatted...so my numbers will be a lot lower then someone w/ an actual atv dyno...but anyways, what are you running for an air box setup? Filter? compression?? Do a wide open run in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, shut it down, coast to a stop, pull the plugs, either take a pic of them or change them and bring the plugs home to get a pic of them and post them on here. We can tell where you at for the main jets...now you have some homework to do...
  14. Every shee is different, but only ONE way to tell. Get a set of 27.5 pilots and try them out..also make sure you didnt' swap your carb bowls when you had it apart. Only one carb bowl will supply the fuel to the choke.
  15. Well then just stop by pad #2 and I'll be there....we'll pull it apart and have a few
  16. The supply list is getting better and better every moment!!
  17. I have Cingular, used to be AT&T wireless. Hows the service out there?? Seven days and counting, glad to meet a few more newbies to....This will be one hell of a trip... and I don't have to drive!!!
  18. You choose the pipe for the power curve you want, then port it to emphasize it. Don't pick a midrange pipe and expect it to turn up to 9000rpms..And vise versa, don't get a high rev pipe and expect low end or port it for low end..You like the high revving peaky pipes, thats fine, but that won't do a freestyler much good...
  19. I agree w/ Ron, but I've never seen a wide spacer between the spring and the grooves. Find a way to comrpess the spring to remove the collar...
  20. Definately a -2 swingarm and most likely taller gearing. Mx is a little different than most riding I've done. I like the tallest gear my shee can pull w/o losing powerband, but when I ran mx, I wish I had a little lower gearing to get some tire spin for the cornering..But I was running a 16/42 gear w/ 20" razors also....I'd think 16/41 gears or 15/41 would be perfect w/ 18" tires.. the shorter swingarm is a must though. It will not only change the traction, but also make your quad more balanced and feel lighter....night and day, handling is a lot better...no more front heavy, and easier to feel the power and lift the front end when you want to.
  21. Wasting your time w/o a wide open run in 6th gear. That pic tells nothing. A wide open run would not have a wet look w/ that color...
  22. Have you tried dropping the needle? 1st or 2nd clip from the blunt end.
  23. hhmm.....well you added more transfer which will take away the bottom to add top end....You have a extremely top end pipe, so between the two, you can't expect much for bottom end no matter what your jetting is...one thing you can try is to raise the needle. Try moving the clip towards the pointy end one clip, if that helps then try another clip...If you find yourself at the richest setting and your shee likes it, then you might want to try different needles..
  24. What is up w/ Gary anyways? I've sent him a few emails and he never responds.....
  25. I'd throw it into a truck and find one..More load on the motor will require more fuel. You can do a 4th gear run and be perfect, but you will be lean in 6th gear...I know a friend that tried to jet on a stand w/ a snowmobile. Went to the drags and found out he was 7 sizes too small. It fell on its face halfway down the track... Anyway, find a stretch and open her up..Look at the end of the strap. That is your heat range which is very important..
