  1. If your tranny oil is turning white then you havea coolant leak. When you mix trans fliud and oil it comes out kind of like a white milky fluid. You need to find your leak.... I believe the right side crank seal is the culprit with these problems
  2. Thats because you want to look at the BASE of the porcelain! That is why you need to cut the threaded section off..... What you are looking for is a milk choclate colored "burn ring" that is about 2mm tall from the base...... If its darker then your too rich..... If its grey or white our too lean.
  3. PIPES! Your going to need pipes if you are debating port jobs or 4mil builds..... Shit.... Just pipes alone will make your bike wake up!
  4. Hacksaw and a vice..... Cut it around the base at the begining if the threads....

  6. Riding around on thoses plugs for another hour isnt gonna do you any good for doing a plug chop. What you need to do is warm the bike up using THOSE plugs..... When its fully warm put 2 BRAND new plugs in. The instant you start you need to aim it down the road and go 1st -6th gear holding it wide open the whole way. As soon as youve hit top end you need to pull in the clutch and shut the motor down and coast to a stop. Then put in your 2 plugs you warmed the bike up on and go chop your new plugs.
  7. Sandrider I wasnt aware that some synthetics dont mix with certain fuels so great....... Any ideas which ones should not be mixed with which fuels?
  8. There isnt really a motor that is going to be more reliable than another motor..... Honestly it comes down to how reliable your builder is. If it gets built like shit its going to resemble it. It also has to do with maintenance..... A $3000 motor is gonna run like a $1500 motor if you dont take a minute to keep it tuned and maintained

  11. heres an idea.....call the delivery company and question them.....they may be able to shed some light on the situation... especially if you have a tracking number.
  12. 87-89 had j-arm suspension up front. 87-90.5 had larger brake calipers but smaller pads.... 2006 and newer had a brake light...... And different years had a few different connectors for the stators....... Im sure more people will chime in...
  13. Pull your cover and make sure your eccentric screw is still in adjustment.... The screw should be smack dab in the middle of the arms inside there
  14. 2.0 full turns out is correct. Another question..... Is there a "choke tube" (little black rubber tube) between the carbs linking them together?
  15. to do a more accurate compression test you need to kick until the needle stops climbing (could take 2 kicks or it could take 10) and while your doing this you need to be holding the throttle WIDE OPEN.....otherwise it will give you a false reading. i think this could be what is half causing your reading numbers as i dont know if you would even be able to get it to start when you kick it over with 60psi and 90 psi in the cylinders...
  16. Along with what everyone else has said..... There may be some confusion wth riding types. Not trying to offend anyone..... But ive seen before where 4stroke riders tried riding their new 2stroke the same way they rode their 4stroke..... Doesnt work. It could be whats happening here.... 4stroke guy trying to low rev it up a hill...

  18. Makenzie have you rejetted for winter yet? When I bought my bike the PO had put pipes on it but never rejetted the bike..... Acted alot like your describing. Seemed like it wanted to drop a cylinder at idle and had to feather the throttle to get it to move.... But when you got past a certain point it would come alive. What's your current jetting at??? Sounds lean on the pilot
  19. wasnt sure if that was you doing a compression test AFTER if started fighting you or whether you were giving us a compression test from when you first built it like alot of people will do. and you could actually ahve an air leak and still get a compression reading (just as long as there is no hole in the pistons) Could your ike have sheared the woodruf key the last time you shut it down and its out of whack? wonder if its a combo of 2 things that happened....like your carb slides stuck open causing wot and your key broke the last time you shut it down...
  20. Have you tried doing a leakdown test yet? Im wondering if you suddenly former an air leak and if that's what made your bike seem to high rev like it was stuck at WOT. If the leakdown test does show a large leak you may have melted a hole through one of your pistons.
  21. He's saying he's closer to everyones elevation that alot of us run at.....as oppose to some of the bhq guys here running in like colorada or somewhere that's 6000+ in elevation. Emt id suggest pulling your jets out and figuring out what its runnin and then reporting back

  23. I would keep the 30 as my bike seems to like the 30 just a ill bit more than the 27.5. I would start around a 280 or 290 main for now. But keep those other jets on order as if you ever do anymore mods y'all need to reject again.
  24. Emt...your not the only one around here who has had to cut out the swing arm bolts......they seize up when they don't get greased often. Were you wearing safety glasses when you were cutting out the bolt or.....which I'm guessing.....you weren't wearing them and got some metal in therea? Ive had a corneal ulcer before.....fuck that.....I learned my lesson.
  25. A station near me got nailed about 5 years ago for having their pumps calibrated to show it was dispensing 5 gallons and it was only putting out like 4.25. Only way anyone caught it was a guy with a motor home rolled up and tried to fill up.....when it took him like $30 extra to fill up he got the hint that the chumps at the station were fuckin people over.......cops arrested him and he got like 8 years no parole for fraud.
