  1. Oops, I should've mentioned that I have a brand new coil on it right now. When I didnt see spark to the plugs, I plugged my old coil back in (old coil was working fine when I took it off) and there is still no spark. So I am betting that it is someting other than the coil that is causing the issue. Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. Also, I have new plug wires on it as well. And also I removed and untaped the entire wiring harness and inspected every wire closely for any issues. All wires appeared fine and I retaped the wiring harness back up and reinstalled it. So wiring harness and coil should be good.
  2. I tried searching for an answer for this everywhere but have not had any luck. I am trying to start my quad but the problem is that I am not getting spark to my spark plugs. I am running different carbs from stock and have ditched the TOR tops. I also disconected the TOR plugs from the black box and clipped the throttle wires. I am reading that the parking brake wires MAY also need to be removed but am hearing conflicting info online about that. Some folks say that clipping the wires only effects something with the rev-limit, and some say that it needs to be clipped after removing the TORS or you will get no spark. Then some folks say to clip the parking brake wires and simply tape them up, and some say to splice both wires together and then tape them up. SO I have no spark the TORS eliminated so do I need to clip the parking brake wires to get spark? If so, do I have to tie the two wires together or just tape them up and let them hang seperately?? Also, when I kick the bike over with the light switch on (and run and ignition switches on of-course), shouldnt there be brief flashes of light going to the headlights with each kick if the magneto/flywheel was working correctly? Thanks.
  3. Yea, maybe we will all be so lucky and reach zach45's level of supreme majesty one day LOL. No use getting worked up over TROLLS. He is just a TROLL doing his part to make the forums look bad.
  4. Thanks for the help here everyone. Everyone except the TROLL named zach45.
  5. Yea, aint that the truth. This Banshee restoration that started from the frame up was going pretty well for the most part until the last week or so. Between working on this quad, working 60 hours a week, and getting no sleep, it may be time to take a break from it. Or possibly just buy a brand new quad...
  6. Do you have anything to contribute to the question or are you just trolling the thread?
  7. My banshee has been sitting for a while and so it appears that the clutch plates are sticking. With the ignition off, I place it in gear, pull in the clutch and when I roll it it stops just as if the clutch want pulled in at all. The clutch cable is new, clutch is new, and the cable adjustment is correct. So I gather that the clutch plates are sticking being that the quad has been down for a few years now. I read elsewhere of folks resolving the issue by starting the engine, giving it some throttle, and then slamming it into gear to free the plates. I would prefer to a different path that is easier on the tranny, if possible. Is there a way to take the clutch cover off and free the plates from sticking? Any other methods anyone try that worked? Thanks.
  8. Now I feel pretty stupid... I just began looking at the manual now and I see that there are multiple vent lines connected to a "T" connector that appears to be required back there. I dont have these vent lines attached and am now guessing that the absence of these vent lines is probably why I am leaking oil out when the quad is up on the rear grab-bar, right? So installing these vent lines back there should solve this issue, right? (I really gotta stop getting only 4 hours of sleep to work on this quad... )
  9. No, since getting it back from the engine work, I only added 1 quart of oil to it before I started checking for leaks. Thanks.
  10. Yea, I am beginning to think the same lately LOL. Got through everything else from the frame up though. Still very new to 2 stoke engines and trannys. Been spoiled by owning 4-strokes all my life I guess. You know, fill up with gas, change oil, clean air filter and good to go for years. Banshees are a different story, at least in my case... SIGH.
  11. Hmm, never heard about a breather back there, thanks. So what does it mean when this crankcase breather starts flowing oil out like a faucet? What must I spend money on next?? Thanks.
  12. A few years ago I had my engine bored and ported by a well known engine builder here. While this was performed, I had this engine builder strengthen up the bottom end to handle the additional power as well has having him install a new clutch. For the first time after a few years of sitting I finally installed it recently and just today filled the crankcase with 1 quart of oil. I stopped at 1 quart of oil because I noticed a leak on the floor, but that leak ended up being from the coolant I just filled at the radiator. So looking for the source of the coolant leak, I stood the quad up on the rear grab-bar to see the underside and like a FAUCET, out comes all of my fresh tranny oil out from the rear center top area of my crankcase right near the swing-arm. It flowed out one quart of oil in less than a minute like a faucet!! Does anyone have any idea what if any is the typical cause of oil flowing out from this location of the crankcase? I am hoping that I do not have to split the case or anything like that. But there is definitely a problem because it flowing out literally like a faucet from the rear center, top (near a clamp of some sort) of the crankcase. This quad is testing my patience for sure. Any help would be SO VERY APPRECIATED!!!
  13. LOL @ the shed pic. The shed alternative was just the frustration talking. Anyways, just for the sake of curiosity, I took off the pipes and lifted the grab bar up to point the front end downward so that the oil could exit the exhaust ports for a few minutes. I was curious to see how much would come out. Well, after a couple minutes nothing was dripping out of the exhaust ports and it looked like at LEAST a quart in total came out within the first few seconds of doing this. I then let it sit on all four wheels and repeated it and still nothing but a drip or two exited the exhaust ports. So, I believe that most (if not all) has poured out. If there are a few drops of oil left in the cylinders, is that going to screw anything up? If so I will pull the engine. But would a teaspoon amount of oil screw something up, and if so, what exactly is in jeopardy of being screwed up? Just curious, thanks.
  14. If I pull both exhaust pipes off, and lean the quad in a position so that the exhaust ports are straight down for a few days, will this get most of it out? If I have to pull the motor, I am putting it out in the shed for a few years as I am just that sick of working on it already. Will angling the quad forwards with the exhaust ports facing down for a few days get most of the oil out where I wont have to worry about trashing the engine? Its either that or it goes in the shed. Thanks.
