  1. Nope. Hotmail has a 1MB limit on attachments tho, might send them one or two at a time...
  2. I CAN'T SEE THEM EITHER!!! ABM, I'm dyin to see the pics, can you email them to me?!??
  3. I'm with Fixitrod, CANNOT WAIT to hit Dumont with a night in Vegas right before...2 weeks from today and I'll be on the road. I was scoping out lasvegas.com or something and came across some ATV tours, but you're stuck on a Polaris. Would beat the hell out of pullin' a slot machine IMO.
  4. They finally got the results posted today, I finished 8th out of 28, you can see the results here . I'm still sore. I can sum up my little 46-mile race in one word: BRUTAL I can sum up the Quad Experts, who I hear the leader made a 23-mile loop in 22 minutes (that's better than 60mph average through some of the meanest & longest whoops you've ever seen) in two words: HARD CORE And 3 words for what I need to even compete with the amateurs/experts: LONG TRAVEL SUSPENSION Hopefully the pics ABM's wife and ridingorhiding's girlfriend took will come out, the ones I took of our quads in the pits somehow got erased, when I get some I'll post 'em. It was crazy. The 23-mile course was at least 13 miles of whoops, felt like more. There was some fast arroyos and dirt roads here and there where we could open it up, but for the most part it was a one-line show; miles of sandy whoops. Somehow I missed my class start, I rolled through pit row with everyone else but stopped to set out my fuel jug, by the time I got to the starting line my class took off. I asked a guy that was standing around WTF and he was like "you're late!", so I nailed it and left the starting line dead last. I put the hammer down and passed 10-12 guys through the first whoop section and dropped in behind a pack of 4-5 guys going into the real tight stuff (nowhere to pass). We got up on a kinda rocky hill and I picked off a few more but had to settle back in behind another 2 guys (did I mention it was dusty as f*ck?). On one of the dropoffs the guy in front stalled it, and the guy in front of me nailed him, so I nailed that guy and started waving off the guys behind me. My quad was fine, just a minor bumper bend but my bumper kinda caved in one of his silencers. While we were getting restarted a few guys got past but I caught up once we got past a checkpoint and into an arroyo. Before the end of the first lap I passed an Amateur or two, but they had to run 3 laps so I'm sure they were tryin' to pace themselves. I hit the pits and fueled up (took about 3/4 tank) and hit it again, but my thumb was starting to give out. About a quarter of the way into the second lap I could barely push the throttle, every time there was a straightaway I pulled the throttle with my fingers with my hand over the bars. I was rollin' the whoops and just trying to keep movin'. I finished without incident tho, the Banshee ran perfect and it was alot of fun, just damn hard on the body...
  5. I ride at Kermit once in a while, when you know the dates let me know and I might make it for a weekend day or two. Axle is right on, no rangers, no regulations; I would also advise a helmet and whip (I'm not aware of anyone in Kermit that sells flags, better get one ahead of time). Spring break shouldn't be that busy, there's generally more people there on weekends than weekdays so if you're planning a trip you would get the best parking spot in the early or middle part of the week. Even cheap paddles would be worth using, the sand is pretty fine so you're much better off with them, but if you can't get them knobs won't be too bad. The dune area is roughly 5 miles by 7 miles, and bordered on two sides by a highway. As axle said there's a trail that runs the perimeter, so if you ever get lost in the middle of the dunes you can just pick a direction and eventually you'll either hit a highway or the perimeter trail and get back to camp. The parking area has 4 or 5 covered picnic tables, and a small asphalt lot about 150 yards square. There are no facilities at all; no water or porta-pottys. I think Kermit has some great dunes for the area, and will be worth the drive. The bowls aren't huge but there is literally miles of rolling sand hills, if you ride around you can find some perfect jumps and some decent hills. There's plenty of good trails and a couple places to drag race. One of the best things is being able to cut out across the dunes and not have to worry about running into anyone, you'll see people here and there if you need help but for the most part there's lotsa room to ride away from everyone else. I met Dune-a-tic there once (he's also from the Houston area), I think he said LA Dunes were closer but Kermit had a much larger area to ride...
  6. Very sorry to hear that Marc. Thanks for the heartfelt post, I know all to often we take it for granted that our friends and family will be there tomorrow...that isn't always the case. Here's hoping the best for you and your family with your loss.
  7. I'm sure others can help more but since nobody else has posted I'll try: 10x8 rim instead or 10x10 would give you more sidewall; so if you jump alot there's a little less chance of bending a rim, also you can less air pressure to get a better bite off the line in a drag race (this may not apply so much with 20" tires as larger ones, but as speed increases the tire will "balloon" and keep getting traction). Also a 10x8 rim will cost a little less than a 10x10, but not a whole lot less. BTW are you sure you want 20" 10-paddles? Just curious, I run 20x10x10 8-paddles on mine and they work well for all-around, but if you've got the motor to pull 10 blades you might want to consider 21" or 22"...
  8. Does the left side fire at all or not? If the left is firing & smoking, and the right side is NOT firing or smoking, it could be a clogged pilot jet (from your other thread I think you need larger pilots as others said). If both are firing and only the left side is smoking, it could be anything evil mentioned, or possibly a float height issue, oil separating out of the premix, or carb sync.
  9. Yes try one clip leaner on the needle for the reeds=move clip up towards the blunt end; so second notch down from the blunt end of the needle. If it will start & idle (may need to adjust the airscrews and/or the idle speed to get a clean idle and off-idle response), and there's no bog or hesitation between about 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, I would do one circuit at a time: dial in the mains, then the pilot/airscrew, then the needle clip if necessary. The mains are the most important, you don't want to be lean there if at all possible (350's might be perfect, but it still may be lean). Good luck.
  10. Depends on the trials; if it's rocky the 18's won't give you much ground clearance (and if they are MXR's they are only 2 ply). I'm running the same tires, I'll let you know Monday how they did in the desert race this weekend...
  11. I made some out of 1/8" aluminum and bolted them up. A buddy found a 4' square panel of aluminum laying beside the highway somewhere, fell off a milk truck or something, made a couple things out of that. You can see them here: And here: They have held up for about a year perfectly...
  12. TT (which got my vote since it won't get many), Dunes, and Desert XC...
  13. You sure Fixitrod? I can book one, just not three (can't piss her off until I pull out of the driveway on the way to Dumont). Nonsmoking is fine for me, and if you need a name for one of the rooms (the online form asked for a name for each room, that's as far as I went), use mine: Ben Boal. Or I can book one and you can do the other one or two, Banchetta or JKJK might could do the third one. Sorry about this, I know I said I could take care of it but this week was tough with my desert race and I came up a little short on cash...
  14. Little snag in the game plan guys, hope Fixitrod, Banchetta, and JKJK see this: 1. The Silverton Casino charges yer credit card when you make the reservation. I called and the best price we can get, $39 a room, is by making reservations online. No other discounts and they won't let me use the CC number just to make the reservation and then pay cash when we get there. 2. Wife-woman has informed me that I don't have the funds to book all 3 rooms right now, and I dunno if the rates will go up if I wait (I suspect they will). 3. No biggie, but I called and they said the trailers will hafta park across the street in their RV lot. Sooooo, unfortunately I can't book all 3 rooms. I SHOULD be able to reserve one of them after I get paid Friday. I don't really care if I get one or not, I can either sleep on the floor if we just get two rooms (and I can pay for one), or in my trailer if we just get one room (there's a 4-person limit to a room). Let me know if you guys want me to book the one room I can afford, or if someone else can get them reserved and I'll pay cash for one when I get there.
  15. ...alot. I took off the 1/8" or whatever the instructions said and same thing; it wasn't enough to raise the slide; you have to take off more like 1/4" or 3/8".
  16. I have no idea what the 5th wire is for. My Clymer doesn't show it, and my '96 only has 4 wires (well two 4-wire connectors at the CDI). Bensshee, you don't need the 5th wire, just re-use the connector from your CDI and put it on the new CDI. Look at the wire colors and match them up; all you have to do is remove the terminals from the connectors, and put them back in the connector you're using. I had to do this on mine when I got a Dyna. Just take a close look at the connector: it will have a little plastic tab inside it that retains the terminal itself; push the tab with a pick and the terminal will come out the back. Then just tape off that extra wire and you're good to go. kenr74, like I said I dunno what that wire does but pretty sure it's not required to run, at least if you don't have any of the auxillary crap like the TORS. I would try the terminal swap and see what happens...
  17. Thanks kenr74!! I appreciate that, hope it didn't cost you much...your auction is hilarious!
  18. Finally got pinned!! Woohoo!
  19. OK ABM, whatever size you get we can trim the plate to fit. I did succomb to the pressure and invested in a camelback, heh.
  20. And ask reas in about a week when he comes back from Glamis...
  21. Well, yeah...I got a package for her...
  22. It's no problem, I'll make a white one for the rear and we can just zip tie it on to the grab bar, that's the plan with Chris's (if you're buying numbers get some black 9" tall ones for the rear plate). I was hoping we could talk Adriana into taking some pics and/or video of like the start, finish, and when each of us comes through after the first lap. I'll have a cheap digi cam and my camcorder, just don't have anyone to take pics while we're racing...
  23. Sorry to hear that led, sounds like he will be missed. Take it easy and don't forget the good times...

  25. Did the choke help at all or make it worse (flood it?)? I would guess you need to try the next size larger pilots, 30, and see if that helps. Also, where are the airscrews set now? Did you try adjusting them at all? The pilot jet controls mixture from zero to about 1/8 throttle, and the airscrews fine tune the mixture, so if it's hard to start AND you know compression is good, start there. 350 mains doesn't sound unlikely with the mods in your sig, although I dunno what air filter setup you've got...better to start rich on the mains and work your way down like erbilabuc said, but keep in mind the mains control mixture from about 3/4 throttle to WOT; if it bogs at WOT drop a size on the mains until it revs out clean. So I would start by moving the needle clip back to where it was, 30 pilots, airscrews 1.5 turns out, and the 350 mains and see what happens. Good luck.
