  1. You could try to richen up your fuel/oil mixture, it can richen everything up without jet changes so I've been told.
  2. I have a trail port, around 800' elevation. I plan on getting some new plugs and trying a plug chop, perhaps I'm closer than I think or too far? Thanks. Marcus
  3. My mods are in my signature, I have bored 28pwk's with 48 pilot 0.75 turns out, 160 main, JJH needle in middle. Bike starts, idles great, and pulls hard, however I believe it may want more main jet. My pods were pretty moist with oil when i started tuning, and after riding I think the filters are flowing better now making a lean mixture only at WOT for extended runs. To the point, where I'd just rather let off the throttle and let it run on the needle because if feels like it pulls harder. I have 1 162, 1 165, 2 170 main jets, I could throw the 170's in because they are available. No one seems to run over 160's with these carbs though, and my setup isn't any different then the next guys. Should I try a 50 pilot, drop clip on needle again, run 170's, all of the above or some of the above before ordering more jets? This is the last step of tuning before this banshee goes out Raptor hunting because of trash talkers in my town! Nothing much to prove, just 350cc's is better than 700cc, and banshees have solid steering stems from the factory! :-) Thanks for the help. Marcus
  4. 1) What type of aftermarket exhaust do you have? Pro Circuit Platnium 2) What type of airfilter do you have? D read answer 2 4) What is your elevation? 1000-3500ft 5) What size pilot jets are you using? 48 6) What size main jets are you using? 160's, may try 162's 7) What temperature is your Banshee jetted for? 20-100F 8) Do you have a port job? Passion Trail Port 9) What kind of carbs? OKO's 10) What size carbs? 30MM 11) Air screws? .75 out 12) Needle and position? JJH on the middle clip 13) Timing? +5
  5. I use AMSOIL MCF 10.40 even as AMSOIL thinks 0.40 is what a banshee transmission needs. It shifts awesome and gathers color with age, but doesn't get dark by the time I change it. I used to ride woods, coal roads, and main roads. Lately this YAMAHA hasn't used a gallon of fuel in 6 months. So it makes the oil look even better! I get it around $7 something a quart, so it cost me maybe $15 a year. Maybe if I could get it more reliable I would get back to changing it once a month. Maybe over the winter I'll figure something out with it. I have used a lot of products over the course of my years, and rank the swedish MotREX up on the list, but it's pricey. MOtul and MAxima are also good if you can get them in your area. Belray/Klotz are last on my list even though they never cost me any motors/trannys. Yamaha/Honda are also good, but cost as much as the others.
  6. Travis Interceptor is not for banshee(will work), saber is for a weed eater or a chainsaw(will work also), however dominator is intended for high shock racing 2 stroke engines like ours. 50:1 and up works best not really to exceed 80:1 but is it tested to 325:1 with flying colors. Ask Mike LaRocco. Get a amsoil dealer that knows what they are talking about, yours is likely old and doesn't know their products like they should. PM me if you need ones number. Marcus
  7. i use amsoil 10. 40 and they recommend 0. 40. Although I'm looking for a better oil. i run amsoil dominator @ 70:1 and its okay. Marcus
  8. Dear Diary, F$ED with bike all day. Ruined another set of plugs and still need another trip to the honda store for 48 pilot jets. My 50's run okay 3.5 turns out, but crappy @ 4 turns out, and the springs are in there. I took them out and gave them a little stretch just for safe measure. Needle is happy on 2nd clip from the top, not the top. It likes +5 timing, but I don't know if the 135mains are lean or just right. I'll leave it alone until i clear up this low rpm load up crap. Runs almost flawless once moving, but sitting around waiting to move it loads up. Idle to 1/2 throttle is like taking off in high gear although I'm not. Hard to start, about ruined a pair of sperry's kicking. Only starts good with 5 minutes after just running or else it's back to the chokes even if you burn you hands on the pipes. I'm going to make a tuning foot peg and a riding foot peg. One that allows better range of motion, not just 1/4 kicks. So plan is to install 48pilots .5 turn out and see if it runs well or I need to turn it out more. If it runs good I may try a 138 or 140 main and see if it picks up or falls off. Leave timing alone, but buy another 10 pack of NGK's!!! I figured today that if i hadn't bought this banshee 9 years ago I would never work on anything. I've owned honda dirt bikes and a 400ex which required no working on it was just slow. Ktm's need some love, but this banshee is a time comsuming SOB. Report back any changes. Marcus
  9. I'll dig around and check it out, but I don't remember those little guys in there the times I've had them apart. Do you think I must have them or will the permatex take care of it? Looks like I'll be on the top notch of the needle also. I'll report back after I've done some more tuning this afternoon. Marcus
  10. Well my latest findings are that 155mains were to fat, @145's now and I'm dropping down to 142's or 140's. I hope that it clears the last bit of WOT miss. This jetting has been a nice learning experience, the 155 mains worked great without a air filter, but a dual stage UNI pod/outerwears made me drop more than 10 main sizes and counting. However the bike is responsive and I see what changes the bike wants me to make which is nice. Needle is still second clip from the top, and one thing I noticed was a need for some permatex in the air screw hole. I was setting it 1 turn out and riding for a bit and noticing it almost 2 or more turns out. Hopefully that will lock it in place from vibrations. I did a compression test and yielded 130 even on both cyclinders, which I consider decent for a motor broken in on synthetic oil. Last thing I'll need to do after it's dialed in is install a timing plate and give it a few degrees of timing. This doesn't require any more fuel whatsoever does it? Thanks Marcus
  11. Well I'm back and the bike is running. Ricky Stator's are absolute $%!T. My old rusted ass 12 year old stator went on and start providing spark off the first kick. I'm running 50pilots 1 turn out, JJH needle on 2nd from top, but may lower 1 clip and see if any changes come, and 155 main jet which I may go bigger and see what happens. I'm running uni dual stage pods. Bike starts very quickly with almost a half a kick, idles nice and smooth. Has killer mid-range, however I think the clutch is slipping. Once the powerband starts to hit, the tires break loose for a few seconds and then the power just levels as soon as it hooks, but it's revving. I have a shit tusk clutch kit with barnett heavy springs 3, I will put the other 3 heavy duty springs in, adjust the clutch, change my oil and see what happens before I go changing anything. Don't need more power if I can't harness what I already have! For anyone fighting a poor running shee and has a beloved RIcky Stator because of a timing plate or it cool looks. Throw it away and put the timing plate on the factory stator before you wind up selling your shee because you keep scratching your head wondering WTF is wrong with it. THanks for all the advise from those who helped me trouble shoot this rascal. Marcus
  12. I have almost the same setup as you. 21cc domes, trail port, pro-circuits, ported reed cages w/TDR reeds, stock stator. My 28pwk's have 155mains, 45 pilot(which seems way to lean, causing me to chop the throttle constantly to keep it running) or the choke seems to make it idle perfect, but not run any better. 3turns out, JJH needle 2nd clip from the top, with dual stage uni pods. Feels lean, and the quad feels very hot, a little idle or ride feels hotter than a WOT plug check run. This doesn't seem to be the reciept of champions or the winning formula to producing smooth consistant power. Maybe 50pilots will help me and JJH needles will help you, it's not going to break the bank. Marcus
  13. What does your bike act like when it blows an o-ring?
