It's so nice to hear positive things about other bikes here. I'm really glad you are satisfyed with your new wheels. I guess it's like every other bike, you modded it to your liking even know it's brand new.

Im ported and i have 330's right now. Pulls like a beast on top but im rich all around. I'm thinking of going down to a 320 main. Every bike is different. People always say do a plug chop to be sure.

low end from juggs made to drag race only? Should of just of gotten a shee with regular juggs and got a nice play port job. That's what i did.

Same here but i dont know what the istallation envolves. Looks like it might come with two new bowls for the carbs.

2003 Yamaha YZ250 trade for a Banshee or 250R...
RagunCajun replied to SoCalinIt's topic in Swap and Trade
yz250s are one hell of a well built machine. It might be hard to trade. He might want to think about selling it then using the money from the bike plus some more to buy a banshee. Here, yz250's cost less than banshee's but im not sure how the market is over there. Good luck with everything! -
Those reeds provide a crisper and overall better throttle responce. It's not something you want to buy if you want hp because i dont think that alone will do anything great. I could be wrong though. It does help the bike breathe though, i have them on my shee.

Please change that gasket yourself. It's way too easy to be paying a mechanic to do it for you. The Clymer goes step by step. if you dont have a clymer, order one asap.

I adjusted my needle clip position to everyone single clip position it had and it always reved fine. It might of not done it crisp or even well, but it reved. I didnt have to do anything other adjustments when i did my work. I put in a 37.5 or something like that(one size above stoc) pilot and bumped my mains up. We have pretty much the same mods. You could of have pinched a o-ring when putting the head on causing a leak but i have no idea of a leak would cause it not to rev. I would think it would rev fine but be lean as hell. Im sure someone will chime in that can help. In the mean time, keep checking everything one by one. Oh yeah, to make sure my shee wasnt flooded, i got someone to pull me and i dumped the clutch in 3rd gear. But since you can start your bike and idle it, i wouldnt think that's the problem. I really dont know enough to help you, sry man.

people here arent too formilur with a banshee. They laughed when i cut my front plastics. Since then, i've cut my rear ones as well. It's my bike and i like the way it looks. I did a quick butcher job on the rear but i can always buy new plastics. I plan to keep the white and black theme going though.

This is a set for cheap. Best thing is there's no compant logos on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Bans...QcategoryZ43977

id like to have some dmc 916's just to be different. I would love to see how they react with my engine work.
-
that's a nice idea but it doesnt account for customer support, turn around time etc. I guess you can ask all of that though.
-
Well i went up one tooth to lengthen the gears out a little plus, i have the power to push it. However, i do not ride sand nor do i have big tires. I have 19's and run mostly on flat terrain so i can pull the 15t front easy. I was just curious. Speaking of engines, i needa go put mine back together in a few min. oh joy.

Im ported and i use regular clutch disc. Nothing fancy. I just put 3 HD springs and it doesnt slip one bit. I abuse it too. rocky mount atv sells the Tusk(i think that's the name) clutch disc for like $45 or so. That's pretty damn cheap. As for the shift star and shift kit, i just got mine in the mail yesterday. I'ma start installing it all tomarrow if i get off of work at a decent time. I think you can use a 1 1/4 inch socket to get the clutch basket off. That's what i was told. Can someone verify because I didnt get mine off to see yet to try.

Only thing bad about the carb sync tool is the lack of instructions. There isnt any. I've explained how to use it in other threads. You dont adjust the idle using the screws ontop the carbs. They are for syncing only and making sure there's enough slack in the lines. Just make sure the cables are screw in far enough for the slides to go all the way down. You can even screw them in all the way. No big deal. You can worry about sycning later after you can get it to idle. The idle screws that you have to tap a hole for control the idle. Start with all the way in, and 1/4 turn out. The nut should rest flush against the carb sicne you should of filed it down before you put the screw in. Make sure the "half moon" pm the carb slides are facing the air filters. If this is all correct, the slides and/or cables are probably sticking, Lube the throttle cable since it's probably new. then back out the idle screw a tiny bit more so the slides dont get stuck on it. You can look at the slides w/ the air filters off to make sure. All of this might seem hard but it's really easy to do. I went through all of this a couple months ago. I know it can be scary.

Getting the stock axel out is a big pain in the butt. Start as soon as you can on that. I ended up having to use a big hydrolic press to get the brake hub thing off.
-
same here cept i got his new boysen play port or something of that nature. he's very under rated, very.

Congratulations to hotrodbanshee!

looking foward to seeing some pics and video. congrads! -
dont forget flotek! Anyways, when you decide to get ported, talk to the person you chose to go with and tell him what type of riding you do and what you want out of your bike. Then he can guide you in the right port job and supporting mods(pipes etc).

How do you take the knobs off? sander or a cutting tool? Also how is the wear when you cut off every other row of knobs? How smooth will the bike ride? And which are the best or either, knarlys or klaws? I have a spare set of 10" rims and i run a lot of grass. What yall said about hooking up well on grass really caught my eye. I am thinking about doing that if the answers are what i like and keeping my 19" holeshots for when i go ride on dirt.
