  1. if you are going to do the 421 cub later just make sure you have it ported.one that is just cleaned up alittle just doesn't run for what you pay for it.just my .02 cents
  2. have kev hook you up with one of his bad ass port jobs.you won't have any regrets for sure
  3. its all in what type of riding you do.i have never had a stock stroke cub but have a 421 cub ported and had a 4mil stock cylinder drag ported by hjr.this is what i have to say about the 2.the 4mil stock cylinder ran pretty much the same et's at the track as the 421 cub when it wasn't ported.throw a drag port on the 421 cub and it would smoke the stockers.so i would say the 4mil stock cylinder is what i would go with over a stock stroke cub thats if you have a really good guy that is porting them.hope this helps you out
  4. i personaly like the shearer.you would want to run the small bore.sheaer pull alot longer in the rpm's then the cpi's.
  5. shearer all the way
  6. i second that.shifter star is really worth it.as for the clutch lever i know jeff from fast sells a really nice on that i run.just watch there are some reall cheap easy pull levers out there that are worth a crap
  7. stock carbs yes. stock pistons will hold you back alil.get yourself a set of weisco pistons so they can be cut.i know with one of kevin from herr jugs racing's aggressive dune ports with piston mod, a cut head and a set of shearer inframes you will have no problem smoking those 450's unless they have really deep pockets.timing plate will help out too.bump the timing up and get alil more bottom end
  8. talk to who ported the cylinders and find out what the durations are on the ports.that will tell you what pipe would work best for your setup
  9. pretty much everybody covered what you was asking.but here is what i would do get yourself a nice dune port and you could still run your stock carbs with hardly no power lost for the type of riding you do.don't waste your money on big bore sleeves it's not worth it.shop around there is alot of really good guys on here that do really nice port work.
  10. i would do a compression test first then go from there.using the wrong octane will cause you to seize the motor up.could be pretty costly
  11. i run one as well and seen a difference in my e.t's when i put it on.good cheap upgrade for drag racing.
  12. not sure what size you should run but to check what size that are on it you have to take a set of mics and check the inside if the filter side of the carb.but make sure you check back close to where the slide comes down
  13. check your compression and see what you got i think 93 octane is probly not a good idea with 18cc domes. 158 mains 55 pilots with the air fuel screw leaned pretty good cel or cej needles i really like the cej's but alot of people run the cel's should put you relly close but always do a jet check and start rich
  14. if i had to pick it would be the ohtsu's.i run them on my 421 cub but the dunlops work well too
  15. give kevin at herr jugs racing a call and get yourself one of his port jobs.i can tell you that it will be the best bang for your buck and not bad on your wallet.
  16. with the cub don't touch the windows in the pistons
  17. guess you could have the cover without the lockup but would be kind of pointless.but the lockup goes on the outside if the pressure plate or is part of the pressure plate depending on which style you get.faster the motor spins the more pressure it aplies to the clutch
  18. the ones i installed hell if you keep turning them they will go the whole way through.i wish they would of just did with out them when the made the cubs
  19. sounds like it might be piston slap.like was said do a compression test.might be time for a rebuild
  20. i'd say go with a dunable overide.you should be fine with not replacing the shifter forks but just remember you don't want to backload it all the time or it does get to be alittle wear on them.get ahold of dajogjr on here he has a pretty good hookup on them and they work well.
  21. and if you find a good builder they can make 4mils run with alot of 7 and 10mils
  22. you are going to have to wait till we make another batch but i will.if i knew you all was heading out there this weekend i would of tried to get it shipped out the first of this week.sorry.as for holding the hill down kev, well go for it i think you was scared last time hell you only ran it one time i did the rest.lol.have fun guys and be safe.fran you get alonger swingarm for yours or are you still working the last tab off that kev has of yours?lol
  23. have fun while i'm back here freezing my ass off in a tree stand.hahaha!hey kev your stuff will be shipped out the first of next week
  24. cascade makes another insert that goes in the cages so its not restricked so much.i use them and they work great and are very cheap.not sure what is all done to your motor but if your just using stock carbs the ones you have will work fine
