  1. Generally.... The more paddle you have will hook up better out of the hole (you want a little wheelspin to keep the R's up) and will slow you down on top end (the motor trying to turn all those paddles)... There are a TON of factors in deciding paddles. Sand type, gearing, motor mods, air pressure, swinger length, rider weight...etc. If they're a steal, pick 'em up. I think 8 paddle would do you better...but, beggars can't be choosers...for sure.
  2. Yep...that's gonna be a stiff bill. Gonna have to learn sooner or later....your choice...but I agree with above. Sand + Water - Air Filter = $$$$$$ No way anyone can say for sure. Best guess is fresh bore and top end, most likely, crank/bearings/bore top end. Crank bearings and sand play together as well as Israel and Palestine....
  3. Patriot builds good stuff, period. But...anyone can make a mistake....not saying they did, not saying they didn't. I'd call them up and see what they say...are they local, or do you have to ship it? Did it always overheat, or just start? With all your mods, even if the jetting wasn't dead on, you weren't far enough off to overheat like you're saying you are. I'd NICELY throw the ball into Patriot's court, see what they say and how they're willing to help you.
  4. I bet those pipes get it pretty good...they look pretty open. I'd say somewhat close in design to an inframe Shearer, wouldn't you say firehead? I'd bet your bike doesn't have enough nuts to pull those pipes in 5th and 6th gear. I bet you drop the boat anchor stock silencers and get a little port work done, that bike would rip pretty good...
  5. Did you at least attempt to break it in? Or did you just hold it wide open from the get go? Any heat cycling on this motor? Forget about looking at the tip of the insulator....do the proper plug chop to dial the mains in. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
  6. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
  7. Prepare yourself for bad news....Sounds like you locked up the motor... What kind of riding were you doing when it stopped running? Wide Open, dirt trails, water/mud/dust? The kick start not moving is NOT a good sign. Time to do one of two things.... Get a clymers manual, start reading how to take the top end off...and do it all yourself, or pay someone to tear it down for you and tell you what it needs. You'll save 1/3 to 1/2 the price doing it yourself normally....but if you mess it up putting it back together, there goes that savings....
  8. Rocky Mountain or Magic racing I'd say...
  9. I like the bottom one better...too much flames on the top, and the checker is a nice addition. I think you should a "limited edition" run of shirts in XL, XXL, XXXL....with: "Will Race for FBT" at the bottom of the shirt.... Now that shit there is funny...I don't care who ya are...
  10. I'm going to try and say this...without sounding like a smart ass jerk...so, please don't take offense. I'm just basically giving it to you how it is...and 100% based on my own experiences. Lonestar makes great swingarms....if you're filthy rich. You can have a very nice and durable swinger built, for often half the price of theirs. A good chromoly swinger can go from a few hundred bucks used to under 400, including chrome. You already know those pipes will choke that motor....I'd be saving money by buying a used swinger, using the rest of the money for some CPI or Shearer pipes. get a roundhouse swinger and carrier....way nicer to use and easier to adjust. Jeff @ FAST racing has a good deal on lockup clutch and new cover (which you'll need with a lockup) and...you're going to want an override tranny as well. Shifting a bike without an override on a lockup clutch will be damned near impossible... The swingarm shop on Ebay makes nice units for a good price....
  11. Ditto...dyna makes a nice ignition. To add to firehead's comments.... Your pipes, porting, intakes and carbs control how high and how fast your motor revs. 4 pokes are a different story, because they actually DO have rev limiters built into the ignition.... However.... Is your current CDI bad? What other mods do you have done? Unless your ignition is faulty, I'd say that is one of the last things to get for your bike...stock ignition does the job pretty well... At 250 to 300 bucks for a dyna....other mods will make you go faster.
  12. The problem is not your jetting. Did you check your squish? Is your radiator cap still good? How do you know it's running hot? Is it pissing coolant out the over flow? Are you sure it's sealed up right? With all those mods, it should cool plenty. I had the same motor, just the billet impeller and I ran straight water, no issues at all. You did plug the bottom of the cub cylinder water jackets, right? I wonder if you leaking coolant somewhere internally....
  13. You need a banshee throttle cable for the TORS removed. They make two throttle cables, one for the TORS and one without. Since I've never seen a twist throttle on a banshee that left the TORS intact....yours have most likely been removed. Just about anyone carries that. Jeff @ FAST is a site sponsor, I know for a fact he does... A local race shop or dealer to you should be able to get it for you as well.... http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=140
  14. What exactly do you mean by "caved in"... Can you get us pictures? I'd say either way, take it to a machine shop and see if they can bore it to 65mm...let them decide if it's structurally sound or not... **EDIT*** Sorry, I posted that up before the picture loaded for me. I'd bore it....see how it goes.
  15. Dickbag... http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=67475&hl= Call your local DMV...
  16. Free bump as well....So Cal has a nice little cubby in that shee from me, and the transaction couldn't have went any smoother.... Good luck buddy!!
  17. Need more info. What kind or riding do you plan on doing. rider weight? Yeah, cheetah or cheetah cubs, dunable override and lockup is damn near a must in order to take advantage of the motor....
  18. It will run much, MUCH better with 2 carbs if the porting is worth anything....drag racing is all about top end, there just isn't enough flow from a single carb... Once you get the carbs dialed in...there's usually not a whole lot of maintenance. Maybe a jet change here and there for temp and/or altitude changes....
  19. I agree with Wes....they rob a shit ton of HP, too... My buddy bought a bike with it, took it off...holy shit, felt like he hit the bottle....
  20. I personally put the cash in Jim's hands today, to give you for the motor. Unless a force of nature prevents you two from meeting up Monday....consider the motor sold...Big_Blue. And thank you....Very much!!!! I've pointed someone your way about the frame, too...if you still have it. He's from Sarnac, MI...not too far from you. Great guy, good friend.
  21. Trying to do something cheaply and porting it yourself with no knowledge how to do it don't belong in the same sentence... You could very easily make it worse than stock if you're not careful... Porting is an art, be prepared to trash a set of cylinders in case you screw up. Reed cages and cylinders are two, TOTALLY different things. If you're just gonna do some cleaning up...go for it. But without knowing what you're doing, messing with port timings, transfers, etc., you could have bigger problems. A wise man once said: You can go broke saving money... Don't get me wrong, I'm all for you trying something like porting on your own. however....since you specifically said "cheap, and you're trading it for a rocket soon"...you might have bitten off more than you can chew...
  22. I'm thinking with a drag port and these pipes....your best bet is to ditch the single carb setup... Hate to see you get a set of out of frames, and these pipes might actually make MORE power. A good drag port OEM cylinder on gas should be every bit of high 70s to low 80s....
  23. I PM'd a buddy...and we're both in MI... Is this motor sold yet?
  24. That was one of the best UFCs I've seen in a while. I was so glad to see Randy not only beat that big oaf, but to dominate him in every single round...no questions asked. Hughes fight was boring...and I personally think he lost the first round, but won the last two. Boring, either way. Franklin fight was pretty good...I was glad to see that cocky Brazillian get his ass whooped by the American...I truthfully didn't see the fight going like that. I think CroCop would beat Randy...but, that's just me. I agree...let him face Arlovski...that would be a good test for him. To be honest, Rampage didn't really impress me in his UFC debut. Speaking of MMA...did anybody see Nick Diaz put the hurt on that Japenese dude in Pride in Vegas I think it was?? That was the best I've seen Diaz fight in quite some time!!!
  25. If you are really...REALLY tight on money, hone 'em and put rings on. However...It's about 200 to 250 for a complete, fresh top end. Bored cylinders, tight fit, new pistons, rings, pins, gaskets....the whole 9 yards. There's no way anyone can tell you with any certainty if that alone will be "enough"...chances area fresh hone would be ok...but if it's at 90 PSI, that motor has been worn out for a while. Either way, rings are about 40 bucks, gaskets another 30 or so... IMO it's not worth replacing rings only....
