Get some. I'd bet you can find them from a member here or on ebay for 20 bucks or so....
-
My first question would be why would you NOT use them?
-
Thank you... I got into it with some guys (the site admin no doubt) on e2s telling them with equal or similar weight and skill riders, a new 450 piped with air filter will beat a piped and air filter banshee in a drag race. Maybe not on top....top end, but other than that...yes. Those dipshits were so insistent that oh, no....450s are a joke, a piped banshee will be a piped 450 all day long, we've done it all day long...etc....blah blah blah. Yeah, right.... Of course, that whole post got deleted after it got heated up a bit....go figure.

Who runs paddles on grass???
-
At 5000 feet? Stock should be fine...
-
If 155 was too rich, go 150. Do a proper plug chop to dial in your main.
-
Try turning the air screws all the way in, then back them out to .5 turns. If it runs better....you need bigger pilots. If it runs worse, turn it out .5 turns at a time until off idle response is good. Wait 20 seconds between adjustments to ride it. Make sure the bike is warmed up...too. If you turn it out more than 2.5 turns, smaller pilots. The pilots end in 0, 2, 5, or 8. (i.e. 42, 45, 48, 50....and so on.) Same for mains.
-
Put stock pilots back in (25) You're way too fat on the pilots, period. The rest sounds close...but do a plug chop to check your main, I think you're a little lean there...might need 280 or 290 IMO.

Why....allow me to transulate.... I need Help i put a lots of wiseco piston and the ring turn and rip it of and scruff my exaust port I've used a lot of Wiseco Pistons, a ring turned...and ripped off part of my exhaust port what kind of piston u recomend me i ride my shee trail riding alway in 6 full throtle i ride on road too sorry for the spell im french tx very much !!!! What kind of piston do you suggest I use, I ride trails, always in 6th gear WOT. I also ride on the road. That's my best guestimate....anyways....
-
Sorry...but holding it WOT open for miles at a time is gonna melt just about any motor. You need to see if your jetting and overall motor health are in good shape. From spark plug to drain plug.
-
Since both carbs are jetted the same, and you cleaned the hell out of them...but it only does it on the right side...I doubt highly it's a jet problem unless you didn't clean them good enough. Time for a leak down test..

Any modern 250 dirt bike, 90's to current (possibly earlier) has mid-40 HPs..give or take, bone stock out of the factory. Any modern 125, same years, mid thirties. Add on the fact they're ported....forgetaboutit. Your bike, weighing roughly twice as much, was low to mid 30s on HP. With all the bolt ons, you might be low to mid 40s. You're not touching a 250....and probably not touching a 125 either. A bike has a power to weight ratio (not to mention, state of the art motors, not a 20 plus year old design) that is very hard to overcome. Now...OEM cylinders with the right porting, exhaust, bolt ons and carbs will pretty easily attain 70 + HP. Then, the race is much, much more feasible. Until then...if they guys on the bikes can ride, you're simply not going to beat them in a drag, on a track....etc.
-
You're not smoking a two stroke dirt bike that weighs half as much as yours with nearly the same HP....sorry... Now, put a good port job, etc., on that bike...it's a different story...
-
Happens....no biggie. I tighten them down in the head, then use a pair of channel locks or pliers and give the screw on cap a quick snug...
-
Pipes and an air filter should smoke a 400 all day long, unless he's got a ton of mods, and I mean a ton. Pipe, cam, filter, high compression piston, etc.... Remember, straight edge paddles for drag, angled for all around duning.
-
WORD....

Normally 60 to 120 for a bore and hone for both cylinders. Give or take. Top end rebuilds cost a couple hundo, if you bring them the motor. Make sure it is CLEAN!!!! Cash in hand in person usually gets it done faster, but I doubt you'll be getting it back that day or real soon....to be honest.
-
He can build you a motor from drain plug to spark plug....it's your money and his time. So...call him and see what and how fast he can do it for you... If he's real backed up, PM Machwon on here. He is near Saginaw, his name is Bob of R&B racing. He is cheaper for sure I know, not sure how busy he is...
-
You are correct.... Dan at A&S makes some of the fastest bikes around. However....see how busy he is. I'd hate for you to bring your motor to him for a simple bore/hone and he's so busy you don't get it back for a few months.... Grand River Racing and RDZ are all in that neck of the woods too. Since it sounds like you need a simple bore and hone, call each...see how far each is backed up...and go from there.

Thanks....Jim. But this guy (Banchetta) has forgotten more than I'll ever know... 2000...you ain't kidding. I love winter...but, I'm ready for sun and sand real quick!!! Hmmm...waiting for summer, warm weather...sounds like someone else I know...huh JM? :yelrotflmao:

Dunes, private property....Gratiot....LOL. I liked my twist too...until I spun, hooked up and almost slid off the back of the seat and ate some shit.... Oh, and I let my buddy ride it and the stock grab bar got bent up....pretty much only one way to do that. Wish I had a camera, he wouldn't ride it again till I put a twist on...LOL. Time to move out of the city buddy...I wish I had a place to open mine up as well!

Warm the bike on old plugs. Remove the plugs, put fresh ones in, go for a ride holding it WOT at LEAST through 5th gear, 6th would be a plus. Pull the clutch, hold the throttle WOT and kill the ignition. Pull those plugs, put the old plugs back in...then go to town with a hacksaw... Or...here. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html I was gonna say....if you found a place around here to hold it WOT 4-6, I'm coming over to tune in my drag bike....LOL.... (Just listen for the sirens, and tune in to COPS, should be a good episode...LOL )
-
6mm is rich on the main....if you used new plugs and held it WOT.... I hope you mean they "raised" the exhaust and intake, not "lowered".... You're rich...but that probably isn't the cause of your overheating.... The bike you raced, what kind of paddles did it have? based on the ones in your sig picture, they suck for drag racing to be honest!! good duners, bad for drag. I'd drop the mains to 340 (since you have them) and do a proper plug chop... http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
-
Jim... Where in the hell did you get a chance to ride that thing and hold it WOT in 4th, 5th and 6th?
-
The slide can only go in one way, but...either slide can go in either carb. One is correct, the other isn't. If your bike runs/starts/idles fine, they're in correctly. If you look at the bottom of the slides, one side has a small, half-moon shaped cut a way. The other side is flat. Flat side goes towards the motor, cutaway goes towards the air box...
