  1. Yep...Josh seems to make pretty nice stuff, nice guy too.
  2. Business must be a little "slow" over there....
  3. Naw...cheese grater. Yeah, sorry...usually a real fine scotch brite pad, good call...I should've been more clear!!
  4. Because of the shitty design of the stock carbs and slides (why do you think they "TRIED" to make the TORS work) Just smooth the surface a little....that's all. I've had stockers stick...cleaned them up, sanded them a bit (just with a scothbrite) and never had a problem again...and they were clean to begin with. Jim, I'd be recleaning each carb. once you drill and tap them, they have to be immaculate, and I'd bet you got dirt or possible a shaving in the bowl/needle or seat....
  5. I would agree 100%. If you're gonna dune alot, CPIs are very hard to beat. They don't have much bottom, but they do compared to Shearers. If you drag more than dune, get Shearers....you can't go wrong with Shearers on a cub. But,...if you dune and tool around more than drag race, CPIs are the perfect pipe for you on a cub.
  6. Ran two masters on my 421 last year when I went from 14 to 15 up front. Didn't leave it on long (launched better in 2nd with 14) but didn't worry about it!
  7. I'd bet you have a cable for a twist throttle....you need one for a thumb. Do you have an adjuster at the top of the carb at all?
  8. A ton of simple green and a power washer at the .25 car wash will do WONDERS.... Then, brake cleaner for the stubborn bits and a good bristle brush.... That's only if you don't have a solvent bath or diesel bath available to you as mentioned above!!! Ass Whore, we're gonna have to meet up this year at Silver Lake and Clarksville drags....should be a fun year!!
  9. Yep, gotta make sure that drilled hole isn't burred up. I always sand the slides lightly when I have them out too. There is a hole in top of the carb slides, they have to be left open when you put the cable holder tower back in.... You have to have some slack in the cable, the majority of the slack is taken at the handlebar. The adjusters on top of the carbs are ONLY used to sync the slides...which, Jim, I happen to have the tool for. I'm pretty damn good at getting these set by eyeball, you'd be very surprised how off they can be though.... Glad to hear it's running again! Now we'll just have to work on your jettting...
  10. Rod, I"ll PM you my email address if you want to send them to me, and I'll just post 'em up here to make it easy for you....takes seconds....no biggie....
  11. No...I ran with no rectifier (or voltage regulator...) You have to have a Stator and CDI and Coil to run. I'm not sure if a PVL uses a Stator or not...but, I'll never own one....
  12. I can tell you I ran my bike all year last year...no recitifier, no lights....and it ran just fine no issues. So...it may or may not hook into the CDI, or...it may hook into the CDI for ground purposes. But, I'd think if were important to the CDI, the bike wouldn't run, or would run poorly... I can tell you neither of those were the case in mine last year, both with a stock CDI and my Dyna...
  13. Ohh...very nice. Ordered mine from Mike first thing this week for my new 10mil build, they should be at my buddies house right now....those sure are sharp! Can't wait Mikey!!!
  14. Good point...you're also very, VERY high up in elevation...which, require a 9 if I'm not mistaken. At or near sea level on gas...8 is the way to go!!! I agree...however, comp and leakdown test is a good idea.... I was nervous working on that bike last night because someone else just put it all back together, started right up, but a big time backfire out the left side....looked at his plugs, they were fouled up big time...was a relief to see it /hear it run better once I put in some better plugs!!
  15. The ignition side and the lighting side of the stator are completely different.... I've never heard of an Electrex stator, but everyone and their brother has heard of Ricky Stator. Some have reported problems with their 200W setup...I personally don't run lights, so...when i bought an all new ignition, I got a run of the mill stock W stator.... RS is very, very good about warranty and customer service. I've talked to Ricky on the phone personally...and he was as nice and personable as could be!!! The regulator does not effect the CDI at all...it is for the lighting only.
  16. Did you KNOW the domes were like that when you agreed to purchase them? If not, I'd be getting my money back.... For the cost and hassle it's gonna be to fix/repair/remachine that one, it might be cheaper just to buy new/used domes in good shape...
  17. I've always had two favorite cars growing up (IF you can call me grown up now...LOL) A Buick GNX and the 85 Mustang GT, last year of the carb. I've seen Chromed out/polished up GN's at car shows under the hood you could eat off of!!! Something about those cars...I tell ya. Good luck finding a GN in good shape with low miles...and if you do, sell off some body parts to afford it....
  18. Fresh plugs and gas? Removed the TORS on a bike last night, fired it up...and it had BR9ES plugs (wrong heat, should be 8).. So I gave him some slightly used BR8EIX plugs from my stash (Irridium) and poof...backfire was gone.
  19. Just wait till you get into porting, stroker...etc.
  20. Um...ok...yeah, so..... What did the banshee make on the dyno??? I'd put my bet at 50HP or so, give or take a couple ponies. The porting really is the factor, and how much was done...
  21. Absolutely NOT. If you do MX, I wouldn't even get a "Dunable" override tranny.... This tranny allows you to shift from 1-4 gear without using the clutch....but, you HAVE to pull the clutch in if you are not on the gas....and can not allow the tranny to slow the bike down or you will trash the shift forks. I wouldn't even use a "Dunable" override for MX, you have too much to concentrate on for the track, rather than worry about what gear, clutch use, etc.... Even with a Dunable, which supposedly allows normal shifting up and down, still is a bad idea.
  22. I can't stand wearing them...but, I drag race most of the time, so....I don't bounce around hills, etc. Hell, I still have a pair of 13 Fox boots that I'd like to get the hell out of my garage, if any of you are interested. Had them up for sale a while ago, but the buyer fell through....

  24. Damn Rod...really sorry to hear that. I'll pass the word along as well buddy... And yes, I will vouch 100% Rod takes care of his shit and it is clean!
  25. Yep...same thing!! Don't you worry Greg, MO in the mail....he he he...
