Any time I loose spark one of the first things I do is check your plug caps. Check your wiring connections first and make sure everything is good there. Take your volt meter and check the resistances on the stator coils. The specs are listed in your clymer manual. Check your flywheel pickup coil gap clearance. Try new spark plug coil caps. With the banshees its usually the stator has gone bad or the spark plug caps are wearing out. If the stator is the culprit replace it with a stock unit. Steer clear of the ricky stator junk. - Jared

Glad you were able to get some use from it. Thanks - Jared

Its different from state to state. I would go down to your county clerks office and ask them for their procedures. It will probably involve a VIN inspection, declaration of lost title forms, proof of payment and proof of sales tax.... have fun with that. - Jared

Is your crank trued and welded? A lot of times if your idle goes too low you will hear some noise from the crank, which is why the noise comes and goes with your idle adjust. If your crank isn't trued and welded and your hearing weird noises, this might be a good time for a tear-down, inspection, and send the crank off to Kevin at Herr Jugs and just get it trued and welded. - Jared

Advance your timing a little bit if you're going to run the higher octane fuel. Take advantage of the octane rating and the tighter domes.

Run 9's for meth and spray, and the 8's for everything else.

I usually make my own gussets. I've never seen the kit you're using. Post up some pics and we'll see if we can help ya out. - Jared

The static compression will also be greatly affected by altitude. We are a lot higher than you J-Madd. 19 and 20cc domes are still pump-gas range around here. We need 17's and 18's to get up close to where you're at with 19's and 20's. LOL - Jared

Need a rebuild! Who's the best at it?
BigRed350x replied to figuare9's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Kevin at Herr Jugs racing! Give kevin a call. He will get you taken care of, and you won't have any problems with the reliability. Give him a call. His number is in my signature. - Jared -

Mario, I'm not totally sure on the nikasil stuff. I haven't run anything with nikasil in years. I'm part of the billet crowd and our cylinders have iron sleeves. You might not need to hone at all. J-Madd says you might not need to hone. Give Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing a call and ask him, he won't steer you wrong. His number is in my signature. - Jared

Ahh, good to know! He sent me a PM today. The hp number is just what I've been told by a couple different builders. I haven't ever done any dyno time to confirm/deny it though. - Jared

Why would you ever want to put stock pistons in anything? Get yourself a set of Wiseco pistons. They are readily available all over the net. Give Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing a call, he can get you whatever size pistons you need. His number is in my signature. - Jared

have a builder check your cylinders and see if they will work with the 4mil setup. Kevin Herr can measure your setup and let you know if it will work with a 4mil or not. - Jared

G-Force axle with stock sprocket & brake hub
BigRed350x replied to 252wheelieking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sounds like worn out splines on either the axle or the hubs. Do you have any other hubs you could try or have any friends who have hubs you could try and swap out and see if it still does it. If you swap hubs and the problem goes away, then its the hub splines. If the problem persists, then its probably the axle splines. I've heard of people cleaning the splines and putting epoxy on the splines before putting the hubs on and it tends to lock the hubs in place. Its worth a try, but if your splines are getting worn out, then its probably just time to upgrade to new parts. - Jared -
Shift pro roller bearing w/ stock spring shift star mod billet basket if you don't have it already you could also get a steel bushing to put in the idler gear to replace the bronze bushing that wears out.

Don't waste bores trying to make power. Save the bores for when you need them. Give kevin at Herr Jugs Racing a call and get your cylinders ported! He does some awesome work. Porting is one of THE best power mods on the banshee. Give kevin a call and he will go over your options and riding style with you and get you hooked up with an awesome port job.

Newbie with clutch quest.
BigRed350x replied to FullThrottle_06''s topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Check the link in my signature, there is a step by step walkthrough of the bottom end there. It sounds like you have one or multiples of the following things going on... your clutch plates are just getting worn out, your clutch basket and inner hub might be getting grooved up, your clutch cable is stretched, and your clutch adjustment is out of adjustment from all of the above. The only way to tell whats really going on is to open it up and check things out. Its easy to do a clutch on a banshee. The Tusk HD clutch kit will be plenty for your setup. You will like it. You would probably get away with just running 3 of the HD springs and still be just fine. Alternate them... stock, HD, stock, HD, etc. If you have the $ then get a billet basket. The stock cast baskets groove up easy and will give you the creeping issue. Magnum is a good billet basket and is pretty cheap. They are all better than stock. Get rid of the boost bottle. They are over-size and will eventually crack your intakes and cause an air leak. Pick up a stock cross-over tube from ebay or one of the members here on HQ. But definitely get rid of the boost bottle. - Jared -
I'm not totally sure if the RMATV cable will give you enough throw to get the 34's open all the way and let them close all the way, but I can tell you that the thumb throttle cable that CascadeInnovations.net sells WILL work with your carbs. You might go over there and just pick one of their cables up.

GOTTA PUT MY BANSHEE BACK IN THE SHOP
BigRed350x replied to DYNAMITE's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Check your jetting and make sure you have it jetted right before you blow up the next top end. Do a leak-down test and check for air leaks... Get your cylinders ported by Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing while you have it apart! You won't regret it at all. Best power mod you can do on a banshee. -
whats the advantages of cylinder porting
BigRed350x replied to DYNAMITE's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Give Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing a call and talk to him about getting your cylinders ported. Great guy to deal with, top notch work, fast turnaround... You wouldn't be disappointed. Just tell him what kind of riding you are doing and what you want the bike to do and he will hook you up. I wouldn't go anywhere else. His number is in my signature. With Kevin's porting and the normal bolt-on mods (which you can get from kevin as well) you won't have any problem at all keeping up with and bearing those 450's. -
Brake cleaner w/o chlorine & Carb Cleaner. You can use that stuff to clean everything on the banshee engine.

I would beat some kids asses if they were messing around with my banshee like that. I can't stand kids. What a pain in the ass.
