  1. i am looking for some .080 over pistons. Anyone have any they wanna sell, or know of a place that has any good deals. Oh yeah... As a posted a while back, Iam tearing down my shee for a rebuild. Have parts all over the bench and garage. Total mess. Anyway... Pulled the reed cages off, and Oh My God! My shee has had a port job and I didn't know! I need new pistons though. Oh yeah, and I found out why the kick start was a pain to use. The little washer and clip dealy on the idler gear shaft was missing. So like half the time I would kick the thing, the idler gear was just slipping around and moving. What a mess. So anyway... where do you all order parts from? I am in Wyoming, anywhere close to there?
  2. Flipped the warrior in a river with one (dont ask) no problems at all. The thing was under water for a a good while. Flipped my shit over, and still worked fine. Not hard to install.
  3. I was at the Walden Sand Dunes in Colorado this weekend. Met a guy down there with a 4mm stroker kit, CPI in frame pipes, milled head, port/polish, v force reeds, and a lockout clutch with that cool see-through window. That thing was awesome. He was doing hills out there that only one other guy could do, and he was on a quadzilla all decked out. He couldn't afford a new swingarm yet, so he was doing wheelies everywhere. Pretty cool. Got the front end up in 4th gear in a drag. Had 20" paddles. Went up to talk to the guy, and turns out I went to high school with the dude! I was like "hey I know you!" He let me ride the beast, and I am convinced that I want a stroker kit for my banshee. Since my engine is all tore apart on my work bench anyway, I figure I might as well order up the parts. Has anyone had any experience with T5's and a stroked motor, or should I go with those CPI pipes he had on his? Wadda you all think I should dump into my banshee?
  4. I see you have a 90 Quadzilla for sale. How much are you looking for, and what condition is it in? Pictures?
  5. You can kinda see the small crack in the first picture. Its pretty much right in the middle of the picture. The second picture shows the chunk of the piston that is missing. We have yet to find any pieces. We are yanking out the crank tomarrow, if its not in there, we are going through the exhaust. The last picture shows where we got some pretty awesome detonation after metal started to bang around in there. If you saw the full size picture, you can see the gouges, one ring is completely shredded, the other one is melted in places. Now I am stuck riding my old warrior for a while.
  6. See my previous thread for the story, here are the pics. Sorry about the quality. Had to down-size the pics a lot so I could uplaod here. If anyone wants to see the full size pictures, I can e-mail.
  7. Not sure what made it blow up. Bought it from a friend here in town for $150. It wouldn't start when I got it. We pulled the carbs, cleaned them real good, jetted it for correct altitude, and it started ran fine after a new set of plugs. It is a pretty old one, so I figure it might have just been worn out to start with. One of my cylinder walls has a crack about a quarter inch long at the bottom of it. I would rather just re-sleeve it back to Yamaha-spec. I have a set of .std pistons for it already, so if I can get sleeves, I can just use those. What are your thoughts on Boost Bottles? Worth the couple bucks?
  8. Was out riding, doing like 70mph down a dirt road. One cylinder stopped firing, and the other just started to POUR out white smoke. I shut it off, and it would never start again. Ended up walking 3 miles back to the house to get the truck. Got back home and tore the top end down. Get this... One piston has a CHUNK missing out of it, and was tore all to hell. The cylinder walls on that side looked like someone took a hammer to it and just beat it all up. The other side seemed fine, could use a glaze break, but nothing bad. I am going into the bottom end this weekend to get all the nifty little chunks of metal out no doubt. I ride an 87 banshee, that has been bored .08 over, and can't be bored any more. I was wondering where you all buy your sleeves from, or if anyone had any suggestions for where to look. Yamaha dealership here in town wanted to charge an arm and a leg for parts, so that is out of the question. If I cannot get this fixed for reasonably cheap, I am going to part it out. How much can you usually get for the engine parts, and would anyone here be interested in the engine/frame/everything else. I will take some pictures for you all, and post on here later.
