  1. Signature changed...thanks again.
  2. I will spread your business name around my area.
  3. I wanted to give Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing a thumbs up and that I highly recommend him if you are looking to have port work done on your Banshee. I explained to him the riding we do, where we ride and were we wanted the power band to be. We do a lot of hill climbs in the trees and trail riding in the Oregon dunes. We needed low end power without switching out the parts I already had. Kevin said he had the perfect port job for us and he nailed it with the port work he did. He did the porting and boring of the cylinders all within two weeks including shipping back to me. The Banshee ran great. The power band came on fast and continued to pull through all 6 gears. In the drag races against the other 450's in our group, they found they were no match. With a good launch, they woud be beat by 2 lenghths. The front end was easy to pull up without the the use of the clutch. As soon as you felt the power band come on, the front end could easily become air born. This did make some of the hill climbs tricky and we found we better be laying over the tank so that we could steer around the trees. I used "we" though this post because my wife had a hard time getting me off the banshee. It simply was a blast to ride. When I got back on my 450, I stopped at one point to check to see if my brakes were dragging. It just felt sluggish. Well all was fine, its just the Banshee is faster now than my 450.
  4. Our Coos Bay trip was a success!! Thumbs up to Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing for the right port job for my wife's riding style. The Banshee ran like a top. The power band came on fast and continued to pull through all 6 gears. The 450's in our group were no match in a drag race if you got a good launch and kept the front end down. The front end was easy to pull up without the the use of the clutch. My buddies (450 riders) rode it and also gave it a thumb for the power. They had rode it on the our last trip with the old set up and were impressed with how much better it ran now with the new port job. So to move the power band you need the right ingredients and it starts with the right porting. Anyone have questions, just ask. Got to go to bed.
  5. I received my cylinders back from Kevin the other day. Fast turn around and nice work. Heading up to Coos Bay tomorrow for the weekend to try them out.
  6. I was searching the internet yesterday and came across this modification. Anyone heard of this? Did it work? Electrical Switch coil wires (A lot of Banshees come from the factory with the orange positive wire on the “-“ terminal of the coil, and the black ground wire on the “+” terminal of the coil, switching the wires would put orange on “+” and black on “-“):0-1 sizes larger on the mains, adjust airscrews
  7. I hope to give you some feedback in a few weeks as Kevin is finishing up a dune port on my wife's cylinders.
  8. Cool!! What will be the turn around time?
  9. CAMATV, I talked to Kevin about the piston issue. He is going to use the regular wiesco pistons. As far as the pipes go, they worked very well before the top end got tired. (The top end was 11 years old.) So I hope I have the right recipe this go around.
  10. I decided to start over. I just sent off the stock cylinders to Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing. He is going to do a dune port that will match with our riding style. Thanks for everyone's input.
  11. I still have the stock jugs that just need to be bored. Will I have more lower end power with the stock jugs, no porting, regular pistons? Or running my lightly ported jugs and and regular pistons? Does porting take away the lower end power?
  12. I was at spinreel this last weekend and they cited a 19 year girl for riding an atv w/o a license. She has never had a drivers license and was out riding with her grandparents. They cruised the whole day use area checking everyone for current tags. When they first drove into the day use area, they where driving the wrong way. It cause a traffic jam with people leaving with trailers. Some some guy said to them they were going the wrong way. So the cop cop got out of her truck and got into his face about interferring with an officer conducting official business.
  13. mikechief, Can you explain more about the pistons issue and exhaust duration? Is it because of the tapered ends on the exhaust side of the pistons? When I bought them they raved about a 8hp increase, which I got. (seat of the pants feeling anyways). All the new power though is is in the high rpm power band. The power band window seems to also be very short. Almost when it hits, its time to shift.
  14. SP, The gold series pipes I am running were great for a mid range power band when I was using stock pistons/bore. I changed to vito pistons, cylinders with a very mild porting, coolhead, reeds, and +4 timing. Although she hauls butt, the power band recipe as you say got messed up for my wife style of riding.
