  1. I wouldn't lower it, but if you get too high of compression, it will hinder your top end. Your porting and pipes are going to be your main contributing factors for top end.
  2. Hard to beleive you have never experienced detonation on pump gas w/those domes. Are you at a high elevation?
  3. Do you have pipes or anything else? I think you are definately lean on the needle. Why did you lean it out? I would go back to clip in the middle position, and if you have pipes, go to 4th position from blunt end. The choke is always a good indicator. If it runs better w/the choke, you are definately lean. If you are running stock pipes I would think your main is pretty close, if you have aftermarkets, you are definately lean.
  4. I'd like a price also Jeff.
  5. At 20 cc's you are probably experienceing detonation. You are also asking for trouble if your crank isn't welded getting to 20 cc and lower. I agree, wiesco is the way to go. I would personally back down to a 21 cc if you don't want to run half and half race gas, and dig in to the bottom end of your motor to send your crank off to be welded.
  6. I ended up w/my needle in the 4th clip w/fattys, ran best for me there. I agree w/the pilot and airscrews. How is your airbox setup?
  7. If you broke a ring or "rings" you probably have cylinder damage and who knows what else. If this is the case, you are probably going to have to bore a size or two up. Obviously that means new top end. I would definately go w/Weisco's! If you didn't actually break a ring, and your cylinders aren't out of wear spec., you can just hone and rering.
  8. Get it somewhere on the way to Glamis. Most motorcycle parts stores carry it on hand.
  9. Get it from a local race shop down the road. They are into circle track and I think they buy a lot of it for a lot of the other local racers at the track.
  10. Are you sure your carb bowls or on the right carbs? If they are switched, the choke will not work correctly, and it will take a ton of kicks, especially if it is cold where you are.
  11. Are you asking what actually operates the power valve, or are you wanting to know what the powervalve does to enhance low end power. I am not positive how the cheetah is setup. Most powervalves change the volume of the exhast chamber to get power at the differnt Rpm's. As we all know, no 2-stroke pipe can be built to give extreme power from bottom to top on its own.
  12. And you are really going to want to torque the hell out of that castle nut also. I use a 3/4 drive to tighten mine.
  13. If you run through any water at all on a normal basis, I would stick w/whatcha got. You get pretty good airflow w/an open box. You aren't going to see enough of a difference on stock carbs by changing to pods to outway your quad bogging down and running like shit for a minute after every puddle you hit.
  14. You could go w/a thirteen tooth sprocket for a cheap helper. If you want some serious low end, get some PT mids, bump your compression, a two into one carb kit, and if you want to get extreme, get some low end porting.
  15. Looks more like a leaky head gasket did its work on the top of the piston, a chunk finally came loose and did the rest of the damage toward the bottom. Just my $.02.
  16. The spacers for width and axle nut came w/mine. May want to get new set of axle bearings and seals, but should come w/everything to put on.
  17. I get cam 2 for just over 200 for 55 gallon drum(little less than $4 a gallon).

    K&T

I would definately be making the trip to the race if I were close. Some of the baddest bikes on the planet!
  19. If you have the means, I would do a leakdown test(not compression) if you find all the fuel lines and jets and breather tube for gas cap are clear. That will give you an idea if you have to rip into the engine. Were you semi liberal w/the yamabond?
  20. Double check every thing is clear in fuel path on that left side. You are either not getting enough fuel, or have an airleak. Did you change both crank seals while you were in there? Sounds like your stator side crank seal could be leaking. Double check all gaskets and hose clamps on intake also. Go with the easy stuff first, then work your way into the motor.
  21. I have heard mixed results on this. They let me across when I was straight forward w/them, but that was 3 yrs ago. They turned back a good friend of mine, but he did not tell them when they asked.
  22. I agree. I would think 27.5 or 30 at the largest at your altitude. Never jetted rockets, but I would think you would definately be safe at that starting pint for the mains. I think you are going to find you are a little rich, but that is ok to start.
  23. Prolly wana think about some straight cut gears, and a lockup to keep that clutch from slipping.
  24. Don't go over 8 unless you have some pretty major power, especially if you go w/22's. Everyone seems to want to overpaddle. I was suggested to go no more than 10 w/85-90 horse by a reputable builder. The more paddles, the more you kill the top end.
