  1. Shaved head will give you improved power across the board, may affect required octane level though.
  2. Need to list your mods, and give a little more info. Did it just start happening all of a sudden, new rebuild, etc.
  3. If you put your hand over the right side tail pipe and get oil from pipe it is your right side crank seal. The fact that it didn't happen when you started it back up could mean it is just a minor leak at this time. The harder your engine is pulling, the more it will suck your tranny oil into the cylinders. I had a major leak and mine would spray oil out the right side tailpipe when you got on it, but seemed to run great at the same time.
  4. Hey guys, buddy of mine is down and out. Has an 86 250r and rear shock is wasted. found new one for 85 250r atc. does anyone know if this is compatible? Only difference i can see is where line comes out of shock body for rezzi. Couldn't get any info on those 250r sites. I need my riding partner back, please help.
  5. You'll love the fattys, but not sure about the rad valve.
  6. Remove the airbox lid. In last months issue of dirt wheels, yfz450 on the dyno test almost 2 horsepower gain just by removing the lid. Not sure if you will get as good results on Banshee but not bad for 6-8 bucks for a jet size up or two.
  7. Did this problem just start occuring, or is this the way the bike ran after you added mods?
  8. I run fmf fatty's, k+n filter, no lid on airbox, mild port work, and i run 310's, and 30 pilots, clip in forth position. run's great, but just a little hard starting for first startup of day. I think i could stand to go down to 27.5's myself.
  9. Bel ray gear saver. seems to work great, but tough on the walet if you ride often and change your oil as often as recommended.
  10. I use the k+n cleaner + charger kit. I used maxima filter spray that i just bought for the first time, but I did not grease the rubber boot or proflow adapter . What are your guys thoughts on the sand that got in? This top end has 15-20 hours on it max, I really don't want to have to tear it down and wash block out w/kerosene or gas. Should i be alright, sand is super fine. I will tear it down to the reeds and clean everything to that point. Please give me your thoughts on this.
  11. I recently rode at local dunes(silver lake). I run a k+n filter w/outerware, proflow system, no airbox lid. Cleaned and lubed up filter before the weekend. After riding I took filter off to discover a pretty good amount of super fine sand got past the filter. I did not spray the inside of filter, is this nessecary. also is the k+n worthy for the dunes?

Went to 300 mains, and moved needle to fourth clip, have 30 pilot jet. starts hard, but idles great once it starts, have hesitation in 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, screams w/o. did plug test w/ new plugs and ended up w/ a dark tan to chocolate color. after riding 90 minutes plug was pretty dark to almost black, but not wet. does this indicate my needle is too rich, I moved it because i couldn't get any go at all 1/4 to w/o w/260 mains. do I need to move it back to stock position. Sort of confused now. also does it sound like I'm good w/300's.
  15. Am running fatty's, power core 2's, boyseen reeds, snorkel off airbox, k+n filter, portwork, am running 300's, needle fourth clip, 30 pilot jets. Runs great wide open, but off idle, 1/4 to 1/2 or 3/4 throttle, it is hesitant. Can't tell if i'm lean or rich on needle. Could use some advice on this fella's. I can say after w/o plug test had darker tan to chocolate color on plugs, didn't notice stumble on test. Then after riding 90 minutes, plug was pretty dark, but not wet.

Thanks guys for the advice, I had started out at 260's, per advice from fmf's website, runs great off the idle, but just try to get into the power band, power drops right off, hesitates and sputters. am assuming it has something to do w/the needle clip position, sounds like i need to lower it to richen up 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. Any further input would be appreciated. Will pickup some larger mains also, just sputters w/ throttle w/o.
  18. Am looking for suggestions on where to start w/jets. Have std. bore weisco's, fmf fattys w/power core 2's, boyseen reeds, pro flow system w/k+n, snorkel only removed, boost bottle, approx 6hrs on rebuild. Am assuming the 200's the guy set my carbs up w/before is way too lean after reading some of the advice on this great site. was loosing power in 5th, and couldn't even get into 6th. had a stumble off the idle, to 1/4 throttle, but already purchased 30's for the pilot, will see if that takes care of the low end. Please help!
  19. Shee should still idle if you have a crankseal problem. I had a screw go through my right side crankseal and it still idled even though it was spitting oil out the tail pipe. You can also sheck to see if you have a bad leak by emptying out your right side pipe. I have to agree on the pilot jets being your main problem. Good luck!
