Well, I guess a PM is the way to go. Always plenty of other good builders to choose from. This is a reason people should really shop around before they choose a builder. I myself don't mind communicating through PM as we are both short and to the point. I knew what I wanted for the Money and he did exactly that no questions asked, where some people want to ask more questions and communicate back and forth.
-
Yeah, I understand what you mean, I have never tried to call him. The fact that he is too busy to answer his phone would usually mean people like his work, but I also understand your desire for customer service. Builds a real sweet motor though!

Friend has a set of YFZ450 shocks w/less than 10 hours on them he wants to sell. He upgraded to Elkas almost immediately. Silver springs I believe. I can see what he wants for them, or make an offer and I will pass it on.

30 should be ok, wouldn't go any larger though.

If you look at their website, it states email is the best way to get ahold of them. The fact that they don't answer the phone is usually a good thing. You can also jump over to PS and PM Backcountry. Dan is doing some work for me, and always returns my PM's within a few hours. He is very busy though, so there will be some turn around time.

This is a bad time of the year to get to be picky w/builders. They are all busy.

Unless you are trying to build the lightest dragster from a stock frame possible, get an a-arm frame.

Start at 300's 27.5 pilot, and move clip down one position on the needle. I ran 330's w/no lid and same pilot and clip, bike ran great. Oh, F@#k those jet kits, waste of money.

May want to try Toomey clutch springs if you don't have luck w/the trinity setup. They are about as colse to a lockup as you can get and still be able to actually pull the clutch lever. I would also be worried about the crank if you haven't already had it welded. W/that much compression and timing advance, you are pushing the limits.

Most builders say they can't stroke a previously ported motor. I am sure there are cases where it is possible, but something to think about. I think you may be amazed at how well a good builder can make a straight 350 run. May just want to talk to a few and fell them out, let them know you want to go faster now, but even faster later. Then you will have some options to weigh to help you make a good decision. Also, speak to your builder on the short or long rod issue. I spoke to Dan at Patriot and he says one of the fastest stock drag ports he has done used the short rod, faster out of the hole. I had alredy purchased the long rod stroker crank, so that is what I went with.

Or get some old heavy spidertraks, they will bite!

Yeah, when I bought my +6, he didn't have a plus 6 listed for sale, just contacted him, and he told me, whatever you need!

Which Hauler paddles for my banshee work best?

There is a guy on Ebay that has swingarms that look awesome for best deal around. They are like a ladder round tube construction, chromoly, chrome finish and makes all lengths. I bought one for $340 shipped w/braided brakeline for a +6, haven't recieved it, but guy has perfect feedback. He was willing to wheel and deal w/me on his buy it now price. His user is either podosatv, or podosracing, can't remember right off. I checked everywhere and could not touch a new chomoly swinger, chromed for that. Guarentees satisfaction, and gave me a two year warranty on it. I see NYUK has given him some positive feedback, maybe he has seen these. I will let you know the quality of the chrome and that when I recieve it. P.S. Forgot to state that it is Honda style carrier.

Set of barely used shocks off YFZ450, went to full Elka setup month after quad was purchased. Has been no major abuse given to these. Silver springs(I believe, haven't looked in a while but will double check if anyone is interested) and they look like new. Make offer.

I would run w/lid off, start at 330 mains(probably a hair rich in summer)27.5 pilots, move clip down one notch on needle. Mine ran great this way!
-
Sounds about right. I don't mess w/the spring tool though. I just pull them off w/an angled needle nose, so the tool isn't necessary. The springs can be very stubborn, so don't be afraid to put some muscle in it. Let us know what you find.

Yeah, I also have an R and love it. It is my duner, trail bike. Don't get me wrong, you can make an R very fast, but put the best available for a banshee, and best available for the R and put them side to side, the Banshee will smoke it.

I forgot to mention that, when my crank seal was bad you could take the right side pipe off and just dump tranny oil out of it. I mean not dripping, like ounces of it. I also agree w/eliminating the easy stuff first. If you do determine it is the crank seal, the stealership will charge you an arm and a leg to replace a part that costs 10 bucks. Probably more like 40, cause if your in there already, might as well replace the other seals. And few more dollars for gaskets. I would be suprised if you got out of the dealership for $500. Where are you located. Maybe someone close to you will give you a hand doing the work, even if you have to give them a few dollars for there time, or pay for there drive, or whatever. It would be a great learning experience for you. If you live in Michigan somewhere, you can bring it to me, and I'll help you out. I have all the tools you need. Good luck, keep us updated.

I would think the 8 paddle would be more suited for your bike. I am having a full drag port done right now and Dan from Patriot suggested 9 paddles for duneing, and 10 paddle for the track. I'm expecting to push 80-85 horse.
