I have a 2000 Banshee. I have made a few modifications over the years, primarily bolt-ons. I have found the further from stock I get, the more problems I am having. I have installed the following: FMF fatty pipes/silencers, Moose jet/needle kit,V-Force reeds, twist throttle and a Chozen Performance cool head w/20cc domes. I was told by Yamaha dealership when I bought the cool head, I could run pump gas with the 20cc domes. Well 20 minutes into Dumont.... I am running on 1 cylinder.... My buddy took top end apart and my cylinder sleeves/pistons were all eaten up. One of the domes were also pitted. He says that it ran too lean resulting in the damage. Now my question is.... what is the best way to fix the top end of my bike without spending thousands of dollars?? I was looking at different piston kits from various companies, does anyone have any feed back from those and which do you consider the best. Is it better to re-sleeve my cylinders or just buy new ones?? I know this is long, but I just want my bike fixed. Any help would be appreciated.
