Well, what the reeds do is keep the intake air from blowing back through the carburators. Thay are a one way valve and allow air to go in, but not out. Diffrence between carbon fiber reeds and standard reed is the stiffness of the reeds. A stiff read will allow the motor to make more power because it will keep more air in the engine and less prone to floating. Carbon fiber reeds are are stiffer and so like a stiffer spring on a valve in 4 stroke, allow more air to stay in as the reed is less prone to floating. Carbon fiber reeds also last longer then standard reeds. Like a valve spring..if it's too stiff it will just impede air flow and rob power.

Lookin for a good engine. Just the cases and tranny.Tranny must be in good working order. Who's got one lying around?

300+ bones for an aftermarket axle.

There are spacer rings you can use...that third spring I find is way to soft. I had a set of triple rates. They worked ok..but they were always too soft even after I had them revalved and ended up bending the shaft. You add the spacers until you get it at the right ride height.

I usualy don't count my gears when I race..I can kinda feel if I'm going to make a jump or not. Practice first, run up to it as hard as you can, then go around the jump, examine the lip, take off surface and especialy the langing, if it's a short and steep down slope, you got to be right on. If there are any G-outs try to avoid that line. Then after you feel you can get the speed, hit the jump slow and see how it throws you to help find the best line. then..since it's a double...grit your teeth, have a buddy stand by then nail that bitch with all you got. If you don't clear, hope you got good medical coverage. Triples are a bit easier as you can always double them up.

I run 13/42 on 20's right now. It's a little short but I never really get out of 3rd gear for very long. I don't get to race as much as I like but I got a few 1st place trophies last year. They were local races, nothing big. The tracks were short and tight. I was smoking some dirt bikeres and holding my own against a leager honda geometry chassis banshee. I'm going to bump up to 14/42 when my new rims get here. Rims aint' cheap..I had to use the one I was running hare scrambles on..hence the 20's on 10's. I got knocked on for that..but when you school a few yokles they stop talkin' trash.

I just picked up a set of holeshot mx. Haven't run them yet. But you want to run 18in rears simply because the smaller tire will accelerate quicker and weighs less puts less stress on the axle and lowers the rear end to help give the bike's stance a better attack angle...hence why you run 19 or 20's on the front. an 8x8 in rear is standard mx issue, bu the 9 in wheels are gaining popularity as they make the wheel just a little lighter and stiffer sidwalls bite better. But they offer reduced cusioning and you risk a greater chance of bending or breaking your rims or axle...plus chopy track will bounce and feel rougher on a 9in rim.

PEP is just revalved works. The only way your going to get long travel suspension from a banshee is to run a honda 250r geometry based frame. This frame isn't cheap and requires extensive mods..even the wiring harness is diffrent. There are a few routs you can go. Lonestar's outlaw chasis requires the huse of honda spindles and such, Roll design's lobo chasis is very expensive but top of the line.about 5-6 grand just for a rolling chasis..then there is leager. I don't know much about leager except that they use a special airbox moved further to the rear and require a special wiring harness due to the cdi being mounted behing the gas tank. Your looking at no less then 8 grand alone for any of these chasis. Long travel is great..but very expensive.

Yup the Axis shocks are a hell of alot better. The triple rates were too soft. I had them revalved and I bent the shaft. Works couldn't hold up..so I bought a set of Axis and haven't been happier. Plus the works had more travel..caused my tie rods to contact the upper a-arm mount bracket..not good..I was eating ball joints because of this. I raced a stock banshee for a bit. They don't hold up very well. After every moto check your chain adjustors, A-arm bolts, swing arm bolts, shock mounts..just about everything that moves..make shure they are tight. After EVERY moto.

well at a 32 :1 mix..32 g of gas to one gallon of oil or 8 gallons of gas to 1 quart of oil. divide that quart by eight..that's how much you need.

How the f*ck did a punk ass 14 year old end up with enough cash to first buy an atv then dump 5 grand on mods? AND WTF is a 14 year old doing on a man's toy? Little boys don't belong on big boy toys, go back to sucking your thumb on your damn powerwheel atv. Oh by the way..Cannondale went belly up. If you get one your on your own.they filled for chapter 11.
-
Nope, that I don't do seeing as my shop at the present time does not have the means to support the work.
-
I wouldn't expect 3 grand for that 250 ex. Buy a used banshee. A lot cheaper.

Alba puts out good machines...but how do you ride in the dunes in NJ? You must travel alot. Anyways two strokes are pretty simple to maintain. The engines do wear out faster then a 4 strokes but they are simple compared to 4 strokes. Get yourself a ratio-rite mixing cup..it will save you time, trouble and effort. Then pick up a clymer or genuine yamaha banshee repair manual. Don't worry about mods for a while..wait till you start breaking stuff. I got my banshee used for a 1000 bucks when I was 16. I did general upkeep on it until I joined the military. Then I could afford to mod it out. I've had my banshee...the same one for close to 8 years now. I'll probly have it for the rest of my life. It's never let me down..well not for long anyways.

Yes that it is indeed..but the chick kinda gets in the way of the true beuty

It's metric..28mm I belive.

Use a spanner wrench or grab all to hold the magneto still while you undo the nut on the sprocket. If you have the chain still on, just put it in gear and zip tie the brake levers down.

I'm looking for a new engine. Anybody got one they are willing to sell? Tranny has to be good along with the cases. Muse be complete bottom end. Can do without cylinders and clutch. Not willing to spend over 800 dollars.
-
They offer a 4 offset, but they are out of stock plus their 8x8's are out of stock so I got the 9 inch wheels. the 8x8's have an integral hub in them.Hiper has been swamped in the past two months for rim orders. That tells you somthing right there. Nobody wants to shell out the 250+ bucks itp and douglas are asking for their rims.

LRD's are good midrange pipes, if not the best on he market.
-
I bought a used stator from eastcoast atv for real cheap.

Nope your wrong, the customer can always pull out. If no cash changes hands..it's still an open deal. Only suckers belive they owe somebody a sale.

Will Yamaha Ever Change The Banshee
MotulMonsta replied to nickxc's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yamaha has the Banshee replacement already..the 660 raptor. I'd expect a few suprises from yamaha for the last year model of the banshee. The yfz450 fliped everybody's lid..came out from nowhere. -
Ac Racing Pro Pegs With Heal Gaurds
MotulMonsta replied to locogato11283's topic in General Banshee Discussion
After about a year, they will be trash. Pegs will be worn down to the tube..that is if they last that long. AC wants you to belive that. Look at how many racers still run their pro-pegs. Not many.
