thats a good question..
guess i could list it like this?
i paid 3k for my first banshee. i invested about 3k back into it over the course of a few years. i trade/ sold it for about 3000. that was in 2001.
i recently sold my "old trail bike" it had a TON of stuff on it i ended up getting 3200 out of it locally. it had full suspension including swingarm ( round carrier) a-arms and shocks, fully built motor carbs cool head reeds, ported welded crank basket big clutch pwk's etc etc, braided brake lines etc.. and nice plastics and everything worked i mean it was kick start and go the guy who bought it came down and rode it at our local riding spot for about an hour before he decided he wanted it. i bought it 2 years earlier for about 3000 and did all the suspension work to it and also rebuilt and resealed the motor.. i think i spent about 2k on it over the life of me having it. i DID remove the custom plastics and the chrome parts it had on it to get the price down i think that stuff was worth about 500-750..
i have 3 banshee's listed on craigslist right now for 1500- 2800 and NOBODY has called about them i have worked on a handfull of what i call craigslist specials bikes for 2000 or so that ended up needing everythign under the sun.. seems at least around here the peeps buying banshees are buying the complete POS's and overlooking the ones that are actually nice..
little over a year ago i bought my outlaw for about 10k after trading a yfz and some cash.. i then brought it home and had to disasemble the motor and fix the trans and the clutch after the basket failed and took out the cases and the trans after riding it for about 1 hour....
i have a bizzlion dollars in my 535 right now i dont think i could get 3000 for it even if i wanted to and its on a complete custom frame ( i paid 2800 for the chassis 3 years ago)
i cannto get 6500 out of my 485 cheeta in a LSR chassis even though i have gone to the dunes and been in the top 5 fastest bikes with it for the last 3 years..
its jsut a tought market right now not saying that the right buyer is not out there..
a stock chassis with a decent motor in it with a-arms is just not worth 7k anymore
