  1. i read that post and it says the crank let go the heavy damage is from the debris hitting the dome/ piston.. i have never seen heavy pits and impressions from deto alone. its ALWAYS been something in the motor failing from the deto and smashing in between the piston and the dome. talk about stress on a crank after that.. i've seen a bunch of toasted car pistons from massive deto and they are burnt up not damaged.. maybe i am wrong just what i have seen when there is damage like that its time for a teardown. if you put that thing backtogether whatever is weak int he bottom end is going to take the cyl with it.. i'd love to see a detonation only post made up?? maybe HQ needs a engine technical area? i think i have some various domes with deto only and some heads with debris damage as well as deto. i could post them up..
  2. oh great now your AVI is a dude with a bunch of guns..
  3. well since half the piston is stuck to the wall and with half a tank full of oil all over the side i'd say yea.. rember % IS A % or width that is the bigger the bore the larger the %.
  4. mini propane bottles in tha fire are awesome! isnt that dogs name master?? oh and that mastif is pretty big too. chumlee!!
  5. shit maybe JD can try and ride my 485 every other lil dude i put on it nearly flips it.. i'm bringing the whole damn garage there is NO WAY jd's sitting on the sidelines~!!
  6. just get the small one. the one i have costs about 20 bucks to refil and i think the tank cost 80. i have filled about 20 shocks iwth it so far your not using much. i also have mine on a lil cart to roll it around..
  7. you shold paint it yellow and black and get special edition plastics.. that woudl be kewl. then you'd get all these old guys asking if its a honda elsinore! HAA
  8. grinder duhh or chop saw?? i know whenever i screw up like that i just weld it all together and worry about it later.
  9. all true here!! i've never seen damage like that from deto if deto alone did that to the dome and the piston holy hell!! thats a new one to me!! BUT my PERSONAL bikes i ahve been able to hear them if they deto adn correct it befoe it got really bad.. most time i have seen what looks like a sand blasted edge OR a blown off ring land area. but most time the head lifted and the coolant came in and caused the deto to become much worse and the reaction and extreme lean condition from the coolant introduced caused the piston to blow and the lands to explode off the pistons.. did it eat a plug? just looking at the crank through the cases is not going to tell you shit.. as stated split it. i have found cracked lower rod bearing cages on no slop perfectly tight lower rod bearings, found cranks that were welded with filler rod added that had twisted and th e filler came out taking out the crank totally BUT it seemed fine in the case. i have seen main bearings blow ball retainers and that end up eating cylinders. and blowing completely out the pipes and out the exhaust.. ye ha carnage at its best HA HA split the case and figure it out. get some better domes preferably known CC and for the proper fuel you want to use, and triple check your squish clearance when you reasemble it being that your in portugal i;d order a few base gasket thickness's and save some on shipping.
  10. all that money on nice pistons and nice port job to stuff some big carbs in stock boots and have them rip.. what a fucking joke.. looks like a 75% width exhaust to me. larger bore lets them get bigger..
  11. side view with pipes.. tomorrow or this weekend i hope to be able to work on it some more. i have a bunch of local builds i need to get done for sandfest and thats going to make this project sit on the back burner for a bit. which sucks!
  12. in case you missed it this a pic of the frame and motor mock WITH the pipes on as you can see they tuck in very tight to the frame..
  13. yes just behind the upper a-arm mounts ther are 1.25 cromoly tubes fitted and welded in. the pipes clear them fine and the frame will fit out frame pipes with no modifications to the pipes. this was one of my goals. as the other frame i will be doing will have out frame pipes. and i absolutely do not want to have to modify them at all. any inframe pipe will need modified but most seem that the existing sections welds will be able to be cut out and repositioned without changing the demisions of the pipes. the stinger tubes of course will be totally custom. the pipes i have for this one are custom LSR spec, lrd pipes that were built for an outlaw they fit like a glove after the modifications to the frame.. there will be no additional cuts or welding or need for re chrome to be done to the head pipes they will also not stick out of the frame really far. as one of my other goals was to be able to ride it like a 450 is ridden up on th e tank with out burning my legs off.. the drag version may have the full down tube still in it as i am thinking of stretching the front out 14 inches. the oil tank mount tubes will of course be gone. i am planing on building an adjustable length jig for that frame.. as money allows.. i am shooting to have the "test" done for sandfest or at least by HQ..!!
  14. yup m+m tell him CAM and PASI says hi
  15. buy a manual
  16. step by step conversion for PV cylinder.. 1. consider that a rz setup is the way to go. 2. consider all the bullshit you will need to find and buy and then where to mount it all 3. wake up and realize its not 1990 anymore and the aftermarket has boomed on banshee's and you dont need leftover crap for the 70's 4. purchase a 535cc PV cheeta and wreck it into a tree because it makes nearly 75ft lbs of tq 5. wake up in the hospital with the biggest grin on your face ever..
  17. i have 2 of these this is my reasoning for them.. the stocker the one i have the thread on. is the "practice bike" the good one is my SS/SB 450 killer i have a 350 cub that will go in that one and it will be for the sole purpose of racing the "fast" 4 strokes. figured id use their frame. so there was no excuses. i'm tired of them racing only other slow ass 4 strokes or stocker bikes with pipes on them, and refusing to line up with anything that might actually give them a run for their money. then going in the pits and the net and talking about how fast they are.. no 4.8's at a track is not fast for a 10K motor'd fart can racer.. die hard banshee !! to me the YFZ 450 is a ergonomics miracle. its easy to move around on , its got more modern suspension its retarded light. the chassis fits a banshee motor very well.. the 450 MOTOR Is heavy if you think all that 4 stroke bullshit and wiring and starter and battery and switches and cdi with 900 wires on it and carberator with wiring all over it and bla bla bla is lighter than a banshee yoru mistaken.. i cannot give you specifics but the 4 strokes that i have pulled from frames and put ont he bench made me grunt more than a complete assembled banshee motor. i bet the bare engines weigh within a 20lbs of each other.. i think ready to rock the whole bike will weigh about 300lbs or so. about 120 off the average banshee.. remnber the 450's have alluminum subby, alluminum upper a-arms, and alluminum swingarm.. and a much much simpler frame. the 450's motors are droping like flies this conversion will become more and more popular as they become more available. i cannot think of any other conversion that has been as popular as this. with 2 specific motors/ frame. only other i can think of that compareable is the DS/ busa.. and to this build your going to need that lower roller so dont forget it.
  18. if its deto its the worst i have ever seen.. looks like crank is letting go or something else in the bottom end or dirt, sand, concrete etc.. from the pis it looks like more than a 22cc dome!! if you can CC that sucka and see what it really is.. the compression may have taken out the crank or some part of it..
  19. wood i had 3 hundy i'd buyzz em frumm yous
  20. about a month ago one was on our local cragislist with a bent rod he said he was quoted 100 bucks to "fix it" at the local yamaha shop.. i laughed so hard on that one.. if the motor is not completely split and you dont know what your looking at you better be careful. when they are damaged like that i'd prefer to see the whole motor apart.. hell the rod could have wacked the cylinders, the cases and coul.d even have went intot he transmission.. you never know.
  21. wat D hell iz exspimg is DAT soumee HTML code or wat
  22. if shear says it fit's! then why ask in here?
  23. ask whoever your buying the pipes from and also ask if they will fit the stock silencers.
  24. ok you want bottom end how about this. 535 cheeta on alky with PV's that about as hard hitting motor with shit ton of low end as your ever going to find. or even some of the larger DM's since the cheetas are so unpopular these days.
