X Games--what channel and times
bigboybanshee replied to locogato11283's topic in General Banshee Discussion
LMAO, that would be something to see!!!! -
What kind of setup is he running? Pipes, carbs, jets, air filters, etc? A dirty air filter or clogged outerwear could cause it to seem like it's misfiring on the top end simply because it's not getting adequate air flow.
-
I agree. Have you checked your air filter? I had the same symptom as you (one cylinder firing) and it turned out to be a clogged outerwear on the filter. If you do run an outerwear, pull it off and run it for a second without it and see if that helps.

I got a frame shipped from NYUK through greyhound and I was really impressed with the service greyhound provided. Granted, they don't deliver to your house; you have to go pick it up at their station. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes and the guy even carried the frame out to my truck in the rain.

Never run them before but I know of plenty of people that don't run crossover tubes and have no issues with their bikes. My newest setup on my banshee will have intakes with no crossover tube....just fyi

Where can I order stock kick start?
bigboybanshee replied to kermithills's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What's wrong with the one you have? Does it need to be replaced or is it just rattling really bad? If it's got the rattles, just take it off and send it to Holyman and he can fix it better than new. If you need to replace it for other reasons, ebay or the wanted section on this forum is the way to go. -
I just bought billet grips. Look good and have never rotated or slid off and they don't require grip glue or safety wire.
-
Exactly.... That's what I did with my toomeys

I've got an old set of plastics I was thinking of glassing to make it all one piece and keep the old school banshee look. If I do it I'll let you know how it turns out Vince.

That's what I always do....Take the choke tube off, loosen up the hose clamps that secure the carbs, and then rotate them slightly to gain better access to the screws on the bottom of the carb. A stubby phillips head screw driver is a huge help. I never took the carbs completely off to change the jets unless I was cleaning them too. If you do it that way, just DO NOT forget to put the choke tube back on and tighten the hose clamps!!

Big Blue has a set of silver ones for sale in mint condition. Also, 1BADBANSHEE had a set of blue fullbores for sale a month or so ago, you might want to PM him and see if he's still got them.

You got a good set of pipes, porting would definitely be the way to go. Add some bigger carbs with it and you'll notice a huge difference. I also recommend getting your flywheel lightened (pm boonman) as well as advancing your timing. The flywheel and timing is something you could do before the porting for a quick and fairly inexpensive extra bit of power. The porting will make the biggest improvement overall though. Are you planning on strictly dragging it?

Big Blue's a really cool guy, very nice to deal with...

Broken Footpeg Bolt..... what now?
bigboybanshee replied to sg30721's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I had to drill and tap three bolt holes for my footpegs. I just found a bolt that was slightly bigger than the one that was already in there and matched it to the right bit/thread I needed and its worked great for 2 years now I'd recommend buying a whole set of taps, etc...you never know when you'll strip out a thread!!! I usually strip one bolt/hole per repair -
That's cool, if it worked for you that's all that matters! Nothing wrong with that setup, just not what you typically hear people running on an MX setup
-
-
You were running CPI's for MX? I never thought I'd see that one.... If you decide to part it out, definitely post up what you're selling with prices...Good luck on getting a different bike to race!!
-
I hear ya...I figure I'm gonna do what I can to make it as hard as possible for someone to gank my shit. I know it's not a common occurence, but it can happen Loco, I appreciate that offer and just might take you up on it. My 450 can sit out on the trailer or something, it's just the banshee that I am more concerned about. Less than 2 months to go!!!
-
I have to disagree with that...I'm not sure where you came up with those figures but coming from someone who owns both, the 450 is cheaper to mod up than the banshee. The banshee has a lot of potential, but the 450 also has quite a bit of room for improvement too. Porting is cheaper on the YFZ 450, the pipes are cheaper, a lot of the aftermarket stuff is cheaper than the banshee simply because you don't have to buy two of almost everything. I do agree with the fact that YFZ 450's have more power out of the box than a banshee but they are not near the top of their potential. With adding just a pipe, air filter, and cam it makes a HUGE difference over stock in power; just like a banshee (with the exception of cams). Just with my pipe and filter it was a whole different experience. Adding the cams is like kicking a bull in the ass; really makes it move. BUT, depending on which terrain you ride most should play a role in what to get. If you ride a lot of dunes, drag race, etc. the banshee is more "geared" for that kind of riding. For trails/woods, MX, etc. the 450 would be a much better option. Don't get me wrong, I love my banshee more than life itself, but the YFZ 450's are some bad mofo's...I have equal enjoyment out of riding either one! Anyone who hasn't ridden a 450 and felt it for themselves is more than welcome to take a quick spin on mine at LS and see what I'm talking about, all it took was one ride for me and I went out a couple months later and bought one. LOL, I just realized that in the title he's asking about a 450f, which if I'm not mistaken is the yammy dirtbike

Since you are fairly new to the site I won't flame you about this, but there is a search option at the top right portion of your screen, and it would be in your best interest to learn how to use it. This topic has been posted at least 20 times with the same answers in every one of them. Yes, 2 stroke quads will no longer be produced soon. The hippies have cried too much and unfortunately they won. Welcome to BansheeHQ!

That would actually be really cool to meet up with you along the way and join your caravan. I imagine it would take the better part of 2 days driving from Texas, and shouldn't be but a 9/10 hour drive from my place if not shorter. We'd probably need to take at least 10 days off from work to be able to make it there and back/riding trip included. That might be the tough part for me. As of this year, I'm only allowed 2 weeks vacation a year, but next year it "should" be up to 3 weeks. Only time will tell, my boss is pretty cool about me going on riding trips, he's actually the one who sold me my banshee Riding the BAJA 500 trails would be the absolute shizzznit!!!

Picking up where we left off in the other thread.... Only reason I suggested the RV is not for the actual time we're there, it's for the trip getting there. It would be nice to have a plethera of cold drinks, toilet, shower, etc. on hand when you're driving across country. I'm gonna talk to a few of my friends and see if they'd be down for something like this...like you mentioned before, if we could get a group together they'd surely give us some kind of discount, especially if we did bring our own gear and quads.
