  1. you shouldn't have to. are the cometics fiber (paper like) or are they the ones with a thin metal core covered with a thin rubber like coating. if they are the latter then i definitely wouldn't use anything on them, they are great gaskets. if they are the fiber type you could call cometic and ask them but i bet they'll tell you not to use anything on them. let us know what you find out.
  2. three bond "1211". i've used both and both work well. the 1211 is a little thinner and easier to work with and a little easier to clean up when you need to remove it from metal surfaces. the down side is that it costs more than yamabond. when i use the three bond i only put it on one case half. you don't need alot.
  3. yeah, i beleive the "GI" has been banned in UFC because of that.
  4. interesting. is this for duneables or for any override? 01blckbansh, like the others have said, use the same oil or fluid as you would normally use in the tranny.
  5. good, i would hate for you to blow up your garage. i'm sure you have some nice tools in there.
  6. i think he's talking about the tranny oil. you're right about using 2 stroke oil that's designed for an oil injection system in the TB for the gas and oil mix. some people use ATF in the banshee tranny without issues. i've always used 10w-40 in my dirt bikes (2 strokes), my shee, my wife's 250ex 4 stroke, and my daughter's 50cc 4 stroke with out any issues.
  7. that's for damn sure. that bike looks sweet and hauls a$$. yep, porting is key, as well as chassis set up. back to the original question. like the others have said. if you can get the best out of your bike and he can get close to the best out of his bike you'll need more than dust goggles. the dust will be the least of your worries. you'll need to be concerned about the buckets of sand or gravel.
  8. stay away from the torches while you're in the garage.
  9. also, if i remember correctely that back in the day they used to use the "GI" (sp?) to their advantage at times.
  10. yeah, they were all about the ground game. i remember them back in the day, they were/are great tacticians on the ground. do any of them still fight much in the main stream arena's like UFC or pride? i don't recall hearing that name lately.
  11. that's an asinine statement. i like MMA, i'm not going to stop watching it becasue i don't like the choke out. i guess it's less harmful then being knocked out, like cro-cop was....ouch. i agree. it definitely appeals to the younger crowd. some of the old school boxing fans may disagree. but action sells.
  12. yep, it's your head pipe o-rings. my pipes used to leak like that on my cub cylinders. the ones that come with the shearers are slightly thinner than they should be. i bought a set of o-rings from Jeff at FAST and the problem went away, http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=94 they fit tight so they are some what of a bitch to get on but they work. with a little 2 stroke oil and some ass they go on.
  13. yeah, sometimes you may have to kick your a$$ off. also did you let the engine warm up first? when every thing is warmed up the piston rings will seal the cylinders a little better so you should get a higher reading then when the engine is cold.
  14. that is typically a sign of oil in your coolant. have you checked your tranny oil? does it look normal? did you do a leak down test after you built the engine? is there an abnormal amount of smoke coming out of your exhaust, (white)? how does the plugs look? are they really wet looking without much oil or carbon build up? like the others have said, you may want to pull the head and check your o-rings.
  15. when you go with less teeth on the front sprocket only you'll gain more grunt or pull on the bottom end and lose top end speed. plus, you may have to shift more often in open areas because the engine will wind out faster. when you go with more teeth on the front sprocket only you'll lose some bottom end but gain more top end speed. plus, you may not have to shift as much in more open areas because your spreading each gear out a little so the engine isn't winding out as quickly. FYI: the opposite holds true when you only change the size of the rear sprocket. the smaller the sprocket (less teeth) equals more top end, and the larger the sprocket (more teeth) the less top end. when changing your gearing you have to take a few things into concideration like the terrain you mainly ride, rider weight, rear tire size and type, and engine power.
  16. i watch UFC and MMA type fights when i can but i'm not a huge fan like some here (RIPPEN). i enjoy this type of fighting but i don't like the choke out and i wish it would be barred. i'm all for submission holds and i know that a fighter is supposed to protect himself at all times, but to me the choke out is an easy out. i know that these fighters are skilled and it may be harder to get them in a choke hold than it would be to get the average joe in a choke hold. i've seen some people get out of it, but i still don't like it. i was wondering what others thought about the choke out.
  17. yep, that's the key, getting him to the ground. sure he would wax some ass in the UFC if they strictly boxed. but, unfortunately for him they don't.
  18. damn, that's messed up. it makes one wonder what that stealership would do to a used bike in order to sell it. it seems like they've probably pulled that trick a time or two. now you know where "not" to buy from.
  19. this is what i do, and i've ran two sets of weisco's in two different sets of cylinders with out any issues. i personally let everything i own warm up before i run it hard. yes, it's rather easy, a little time consuming but easy. get a clymers manual, it's very handy. so true. get a comp gauge and check your compression before you do anything. if you need to rebuild the top end you may as well get the cylinders ported while they're off. even if it's just a mild port job, which i beleive you can get it done for around $250. if you need a topend kit and port work give jeff at fast a call, he'll hook you up with every thing. http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/services.asp if you need help with anything shoot me a PM. i live in north tampa just down the rode from LOL.
  20. i guess it depends on where you ride. i think you ride in open areas, correct? so you shouldn't have to worry about hiiting OOF's on trees and stuff. do you have to worry about noise levels where you ride? although you could get silencers for OOF's. i personally like the looks of OOF's, but where i ride i would bang them up so i run SB IF shearers. i wish i could get away with a set of chrome OOF non-silenced shearers. too my understanding you usually gain a few HP with the OOF's compared to IF's when comparing the same versions (SB to SB or BB to BB).
  21. it's short for millimeter. usually you'll see people use it when they are talking about stroker cranks. +4 mil, 7 mil, 10mil, etcetera, etcetera.
  22. absolutely, that way you can go another 1.5 to 2 years before you have to tear it down agian. barring a unforseen issue.
  23. i'll post where ever i F'N want. as a matter of fact i have ridden the LT-R, my buddy has one with a cherry bomb and a yoshimura exhaust. it's decent, but not my cup of tea, personally i'm not too fond of it. i guess it would take some time to get used to. i'm very open minded, i respect the new breed of 4 strokes. they're quick, light and agile. i was just busting ya'lls balls about posting 4 stroke questions on a 2 stroke site. i'm sure people on 4 stroke sites aren't to fond of people posting questions about 2 strokes on their site, especially banshee's.
  24. F' the LT-R and the TRX. they both suck. take the 4 poke BS'ing to a 4 poke site. unfortunetaly for the LT-R it's a suckzuki, it will fall apart eventually. as far as the TRX is concerned.......... well i can't bag on it too much, because it has a honda engine. but, none the less, this is a 2 stroke site. my cherry bomb is better than your glass pack.........my fart bomb exhaust is louder than your fag attracting rice burner. who cares?????? they're loud annoying 4 strokes. argue on a 4 poke site.
  25. yep, that's what he was saying. if you're running hot, i highly doubt it is due to the cases not being match ported to the cylinders. i ran a set of cylinders for almost two years that had the tranfers opened up and i didn't have the case match ported to them and i never had a heating issue. i don't think that would cause the issue. i suspect something else is causing the issue.
