The right bearing got chewed up too and almost slip apart. All the balls were not round anymore. Going to Rudy Kurtz to have him check it out. Who knows maybe the crank will be bad and I will have to get a +4. Just waiting for a trip where it does not blow up.

ok heres the update. Some how the right crank seal got grinded up by I think the gear next to it. That seal is made of rubber and metel so there is crap everywhere. I split the cases to match port the transfers and weld the crank and did not put in new seals so maybe that was my problem. Do I need a new crank bearing now?

Well I will tell you what happended in a couple of hours if no one bothers me.

Need Extended Swingarm Input
Leadfoot350 replied to TurbochargedOne's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have a +6 for sand and its hard to keep the front end down on a launch. If you doing it for sand you might as well get a +6. Make sure it does not weight a ton. I got mine from kevin at custom creations and it weights 10 lbs with bearings and slider. Stock weighs 12lbs. -
I was at glamis last weekend and the bike was running great after I droped the needle clip to the last spot and put a 215 main jet on the 2-1 carb. I might be changing my mind about that set up but I would like to try a bigger main and eek needle. Well we went on a night ride and my bike would only fire on one the left side and smoke a LOT on the right. I thought I fauled a plug but that did not work. When I got home I took it apart and the right piston had some marks on it so I will need to get another set. I think it was because a previous time the spark plug porsilin fell out and I did not wash out the case so there was still stuff in it. Well then today I noticed that there was fluid on the bottom of the right cylinder case and for all I can tell is that it is tranny oil. I am not 100% sure but it looks and almost smells the same. I want to know if this is possible and why did it happen?

I have a +6 with 126 links. It is hard to find some chains that long. I got a regina gold and it is a very nice chain.

which ones said they are not junk?

I was there. Sand was a little wet but it was a great first time back. My bike stoped firing the right cylinder and I could not figure out why even when i took it apart today.

no one else has any input? -
someone on planet sand just dynoed a bunch of reeds and the g3's sucked big time. The v-force did the best. If you have v-force and the trinity 2-1 manifold check out how they dont match up at all. I had to take off material on my v-force's so they would line up with the manifold. It was like a 1\4 inch. I didnt run it stock so I dont know if there is a difference but I am sure there is. Maybe 1 hp.
-
I dont want to bother putting the stock ones back because they have the tors crap on so I am running it for now. I am going to get another 35 and sell the manifold when I get either a 4 or 7mm stroker. Ask Rudy kurts, mission yamaha, a&s,K&t, R.I.S. They will tell you dont bother. They are great for ease of use but for power they dont compair.

after market extended axles are heavy. Dont get one unless you really need one. Stock axle is 11 lbs and the other ones feel like 20

ok I went to ris and weighed hubs, sprocket holder and rea brake hub and if you buy all of that for 475 you will loose about 4 lbs. There stuff is the best in my book, the rear hubs are nice and they include really nice nuts, also the rear sprocket holder is straight like the stock one. I dont like lonestars twisting style. You can also get a new rear wave disc that will shed some weight but all that will be about 600 with tax and shipping and weight about 4-5 lbs less. Is that worth it? Will you be able to feel that or should you spend that on your motor? The only thing I can do to mine is stroke it 4-7mill. Be carefull of some brands of alum stuff. I read that shark front hubs are 10oz each heavier that stock. Both is 20oz more and that is horrible. You can sent the stock fronts to jj&a and they can cut out the center section. Check out their website on it for a picture. -
for +2 you dont need them I heard.

how to get 9 oz of a flywheel?
Leadfoot350 replied to Leadfoot350's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
With doing a search I found out how much to take off and got it down to 40.9 oz. Thats a big difference but I agree with you about how it weighs a lot even after lightening. If you dont ever use your head lights you can get a pvl ignition which gets a whole new flywheel set up that is really light. I dont know how much but I am guessing 10-15oz. -
how to get 9 oz of a flywheel?
Leadfoot350 replied to Leadfoot350's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ok I did the search and found it and took that much off. The flywheel was 7 grams off though. The guy who balanced it said that the holes were there for a reason and that reason is probally because the crank hole is off centered. So..... after you lighten your flywheel you should check and see if it is out of balance. He took the weight off the center row which was good anyways. -
ya I dont know either
-
I took 90 thou off both sides of the magnetic pick up tonight and it went from 49.9 to 44. How are you guys getting 9 oz off? I can still bearly see the balancing holes. Should I go more or take it off from somewhere else?
-
ask any true motor builder and they will tell you they are junk.
-
stick with two. Any high performance engine works better with one carb per cylinder. Look at ferraries, fast bugs, porsche's, they all have the same set up. One carb per cylinder gives you better low end and throttle response and top end.
-
I like the foam grips. You dont have to wear gloves and they act like a shock absorber.
-
If you guys want to get over the woops get a longer swing arm. I have a +6 on mine and I can full throttle it all the way up. I just lean back and the bike just soakes up the woops like butter. I used to have the stock swing arm and I would get all out of control and almost fall off while never letting off the gas. Im telling its a huge difference. If any does not believe me I will be there next weekend racing up olds and will woop you just to prove it.

Leadfoot350 replied to chingaso's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
you better of with people like a&s, K&t, port magic and individuals who are consistant with their work. -
The faster you make your quad the more you want to drag it! A +4-6 is great for the dunes. That is one nice banshee. You got a good one. Dont mess it up.

Looking to build a 420 Longrod engine
Leadfoot350 replied to cyp65's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
put a bigger crank in it rather than the big bore kit. I big bore kit uses biger sleaves which make the transfers smaller and it cant flow anything. Get atleast a +4 crank, nice porting, carbs, pipes, and anything else you can think of.
