It sounds as though you have some bigger problems than just the TORS. That wiring sounds as though it could be a bit of a problem.... Banshees are slightly more difficult in the wiring problem department than other bikes, but not too hard....
-
It sounds as though either you have a pilot jet plugged, low compression, the choke circuit messed up-(choke tube not n place in between the carbs) or a weak stator. The latter of the options being the least likely.

Is it possible that one of the floats has a hole in it? I have never had to touch my floats. They have ALWAYS worked just fine. I do not run a fuel filter, and I have clogged a jet twice since I have owned the shee, and I personally have never had a float stick or get crap in the needle valve. I think you have improperly adjusted your floats. My '96 has original needle valves in the carbs. No problem yet...

I clean with WD-40, and compressed air. Alcohol would work as well.

Anyone Up For Another Bhq Get Together?
boonman replied to banshee370's topic in Riding and Events Forum
That depends who's wearing them!!!!!! Just kidding. Around camp, that "stuff" is all good, but when out riding, be prepared!!! -
Bummer man. But, I have worked holidays here for 6 years, and I don't even get overtime pay for them. No holiday rate, and it's only overtime if I work over 40 hours. Not over 8 in a day. Which sucks. I am sick and friggin' tired of getting shit on. I guess I didn't suck off anyone to get a good paying job like half the politicians and CEO's of this world..... It just sucks for the people that actually have knowledge and can and want to apply it to their field....

Ooops, I got it wrong. it was www.teamdunes.com LMAO!!!! Abslut himself. The self proclaimed goddess of the ATV world. You may find him in his thong and cape prancing around his freshly cleaned bike at a parking lot near you. he doesn't ride it, so don't worry about finding him out on the trail or in the dunes. perhaps at your local "funny bar" is where he will be at...

I tip the scale at 230. I ride my bike pretty hard when I ride it... it takes all I can give it..
-
Your buddy, or whoever was on the 450 must have been a complete moron. Because it is common knowledge that stock for stock, and even piped bike to piped bike, a banshee and a shee are close. In the stock to stock, the 450 takes the lead. But when pipes are added, it is all up to the rider. There is NO way that your stock shee beat a stock 450 anywhere....

Ummmmmm, They suck!!!!!

What Stock Quads Will Be A Banshee?
boonman replied to ninjamaster's topic in General Banshee Discussion
stock for stock, a YZF450 will take a shee. A stock DS will take a stock shee as well. Oh yea, a Cannondale will take a shee as well. Quadzilla would too, that is if it can hold together to the end of the track... -
There is a truck too????????? I am in the wrong state!!!

I have one. And it will be for sale soon!!! I even have about 8 sets of new bearings for the rollers. I bought a stockload. Anyways, I am going to be draggin next season, and won't need it. However, here is my take on the AMP link. IT WORKS. There is no denying it. I do believe that it is helpful to an MX'er, and a woods rider. They DO help with traction. Also, with torque on the swingarm as it moves through the suspension cycle. I have done testing on Shees that are extremely close in setups between my friends. And my bike worked alot better in rough terrain than their bikes did. And it did it ALOT smoother. As said, they do have premature wear on the bearings, but there is alot of torque being placed on them, and almost everyone I have seen with an AMP link have the chain adjusted improperly. Which is the direct cause of premature failure. I have been running the same set of bearings in the rollers all season.....

Oh hell yeah!!!!!!1

No, you will still work the overtime, you just won't get paid 1.5X the pay rate for over 40 hours. basically, you will get straight hourly pay no matter how many hours you work...

I would get a small set. I have a set of starrett punches. I love starrett tools. (machine shop shit) For other tools, I have craftsman. The snap on truck doesn't stop at my house, and I don't make a living at it. And for the few tools that do happen to break, I don't mind dending the wife to sears for a new one.... Craftsman punches are big.

You can put a spring in there. it will keep the way clear..

You don't take the impellar out. It stays in the clutch cover. It is all one unit. The side cover should come off, as long as you have the kickstarter off and all the bolts out. Make sure you drain all the oil, and all the coolant. Leave the clutch cable where it is, and you can pull the 5 spring bolts with a wratchet. Then, pull the clutch pressure plate off, and change your clutch. Be SURE to soak the new plates in some good oil, BEFORE you put them in the basket. Then, line up the arrows on the pressure plate and the basket as per the clymers manual, and put the springs and bolts back in and tighten to spec. Which can also be found in the bible. errrrrrrrr, clymer manual. BTW, you do have a clymer manual or equivalent, don't you???

ABBA!!! Nice choice. I forgot about them. What about james brown? Sex Machine!! Poppa's got a brand new bag. And rocky mountain high, man, that is a classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not know of any shops in connecticut, but you could ask around. I am sure you will find answers. And on mods, you could have the head cut, flywheel lightened, you could port it, mod the shift star, the list goes on...

I am thinking it has something to do with the choke circuit. Think about it, the choke circuit is specific to banshee carbs, and banshee carbs are the only ones to stick. I wish I could go riding, and check this out. But I can't. Anyways, perhaps a check would be that when the throttle sticks, pop the choke on like halfway to feed some fuel through the circuit.

An old Ranger I had, the porcelain blew out of the hex portion of the plug. The hex was still in the head, and the porcelain still in the wire. I ran the truck for 3 days like that. Hellacious noise. I thought I blew the head gasket to the moon, but it didn't burn any oil or coolant, and I couldn't pinpoint it... i finally did. It was a champion plug BTW..

boon, wouldnt a air leak cause it not to run unless it was in the upper rpm range ? just a question ive been missimformed about. ive heard both ways. later An air leak will make the motor run lean. Lean is mean. Think of a lean pilot. It should still start, it will run real "zingy", meaning it free revs cleanly, and kind of zingy, I don't know how else to explain it. But you would have to give it alot of fuel to start off. Does the bike calm down if you pop the choke on a tad? Spraying some carb cleaner around the carbs and base gaskets while it's running will find a leak.
