After reading this thread from start to finish, I realized like SDD did that you CANNOT pull the clutch lever for any adjustment except the final free play adjustment. I too was in the same boat when my adjuster screw stripped out. I bought a new one, and how you do it is exactly like SDD described. You push on the clutch actuation arm untill you feel it bottom out. (you shouldn't be able to push the arm enough to disengage the clutch pressure plate at all. if you can, than your springs are not in there properly, or the pressure plate isn't in there properly and something is wrong. Do not proceed further, and investigate the situation. The arrows must line up on the basket, and you will be set to adjust the arm. The arrows on the case are a guide. You use the adjustment bolt to get the arrows to line up. Once that is all good, then move up to the lever. give it a pull, (lightly) to take up the slack. if you can't adjust the lever free play adjustment to take the free play out of the cable, than the cable is stretched beyond it's useable limit and it must be replaced. No questions asked. Replace it. You have already burnt up a clutch because of improper installation/setup. Do you wanna burn another one because of a $15 cable? I didn't think so.

Fuel Mixture Please Help Asap By Tomorrow

Running 100% water will cool better than mixing it Although, one must remember, without mixing it, water will have a lower boiling point than a mix..... -
Well, the proper way to adjust it is to set the bike on your stand, (letting the rear suspension completely drop down. The chain must have 1.25"-1.5" of slack at this point. And afterwards, make sure that the chain doesn't bind on anything as the rear end goes through it's travel. Here is a pic of mine I shot last winter.... I'll be in touch holyman.....

My bike runs between 160-180. And Dexcool is meant to ruin cars. not banshees. (key fact here, Dexcool is JUNK)

Ummm, I'm not in a union, and I never have been. Well, once when I was forced into one when I was 16 and working at a supermarket. And yep, my >$20,000 a year job is REALLY inflated. Yep. I don't worry about my job. I know what I do, have done, and will be asked to do in the future. I don't like unions, and never have. And YOU there buddy help make the laws governing jails for prison guards. SO, how would you feel if one night, because of SEVERE understaffing, like we have here currently in Buffalo, about 1,000 prisoners get out, overtake the staff, (because there wasn't enough there) and start running rampant on the streets. They break into YOUR house, and rape your daughter. Yep, sounds like we shouldn't pay them people. There just happens to be some people on the job at prisons EVERYWHERE that want to work the overtime that is LEGALLY available, and a MUST at facilitys like that. here is a minumum number of people that have to be on staff. For good reason. But hey, let's say piss on that, and just let the criminals run around. Lay off the prisons "buddy". I don't work in one, never have. I do however know how the prison system employees work, and their regulations. I don't work in a union place. So you saying that my overtime won't get cut? During the day, 6 am untill 3:30 PM, I am out in the plants, fixing machines, and making production run smoothly as possible. Aftere that time, I am in the shop, making new machinery. Designing and building. that is where my overtime comes in. I NEED to be here during the day, and I NEED to be here in the evening. SO, what do I do now? Stop blaming the unions, they didn't do it. AMERICANS did it. The problem is friggin unemployment. I would be better off to go on that, than to work now. For the simple fact i would get paid more, free health care, ALOT more tax breaks, and the government would pay for everything. I see it happen every day. And people abuse the system, and the PResident is making it easier for that to happen. All he is goping to do is create more low paying jobs for the border jumpers, and illegal aliens, because you think that employers are going to hire legal people to fill positions because people won't work overtime now? Yep, tell me how that is gonna work. And on the same token here "buddy", people don't work to become poor. They work to make money. I am assuming you own your own business, because of your standpoint on this. Or, you are an illegal alien. I do own my own business, and I work for someone else. I don't like it on both accounts. overtime is by FAR cheaper for an employer to pay, than to hire another or several full time employees, because with the new person(s) comes extra health care costs, and everything else involved.

Well, the pits on the one piston sounds like detonation, and the right side (the one with the exhaust side damage) sounds alot like a lean condition. Was there an air leak? I am assuming you already tore the top end down. In which case you can't do a leakdown test to determine if there was an air leak present or not.....

Well, I just got this email, and I cut it, and here it is.... Please read.... A lot happened this weekend in the fight to stop President Bush's overtime pay take-away. After weeks of strong-arming, President Bush succeeded in keeping the ban on his overtime pay cuts out of end-of-year legislation, even though bipartisan majorities in the U.S. Senate and House had voted with workers--and against President Bush. These are the same strong-arm tactics the Bush administration used on Medicare and other issues. Once Bush's Department of Labor announces a start date (which could be in December) the new overtime rules will sadly go into effect and strip overtime pay from millions of ordinary working Americans. URGENT ACTION is required, and in response the AFL-CIO is calling for an OVERTIME PAY NATIONAL WEEK OF ACTION starting Dec. 1 when we'll ask you to help spread the word about Bush's overtime pay take-away. Talking to your friends, family and co-workers about President Bush's attack on overtime protections, the 40-hour workweek and the weekend is the most important thing you can do. Our best hope for beating Bush's overtime pay take-away is to involve millions of Americans in this growing movement. And, since you may have already written a letter to your senators and representative, please send a note to your friends, family and co-workers by clicking on the link below. Ask them to join the fight. http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/otlastc...d/xukbkxrqjxeem If you'd prefer to send your own e-mail message, you can copy and paste the text below into your e-mail and send it to everybody in your e-mail address book. \\\\\\ copy and paste below ////// Dear Friend: President Bush is pushing a massive overtime pay take-away that would strip overtime protections from millions of working Americans. More than 8 million people will lose their overtime pay possibly as soon as December. The AFL-CIO has a page where you can send a fax for free to your senators and representative on overtime pay. You don't have to be a union member. Please click on the link below to help protect overtime pay. http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/otlastchance/ After you take action, please spread the word. Thanks. ////// copy and paste above \\\\\\ Look for an e-mail on Dec. 1 to announce the first part of the week of action. Before then, you can get ready by building and collecting an e-mail list you'll forward notes to during the week of action. For the first time ever, we'll also be asking you to print out some materials from a website and distribute them in your workplace or your community. Here is some of what the Bush overtime pay take-away would do as part of the biggest rollback of overtime protections in U.S. history: + Millions of salaried workers making between $22,100 and $65,000 could be reclassified as "executives" or "administrative" employees-and would no longer qualify for overtime pay. + Relatively low-salary earners who have supervisory responsibilities could be penalized. Workers who make $23,000 a year could be classified as executives. + Workers with training or education could be hurt. This includes medical training and IT training. Some of the jobs that might lose overtime pay could be nurses technicians and medical therapists but also hundreds of others. + Many employers would assign overtime work to newly exempt employees and eliminate overtime work opportunities for other overtime-eligible workers. Everybody loses. + Anyone making $65,000 or more a year doing office or non-manual work would lose the right to overtime pay. We need to stop these awful Bush overtime pay cuts so please remember to check your e-mail on Dec. 1. Thanks for all you do. You need to list your mods and go to the jetting forum. You will get the question answered there....
-
What is your elevation? Your jetting doesn't sound bad, except the 30 pilots. Could be a little on the rich side. How hard do you ride the bike? Do you let it idle alot?
-
Shaving the head. $50 shipped. Lighten the flywheel, $65 shipped. Shit star mod, $28, shipped. You can port the reed cages yourself. You can also mod the stator plate yourself, or get a timing key. Some don't like them, but if properly installed, will last a lifetime. I have been runnign one for quite some time with no problem. +4

What Else Is There To Change

If you're running MX, DON'T remove the Amp link. You will find it useful. -
What did the top end (piston mainly) look like the last time it blew? What happened to it? Was it jetting? Detonation? Improper machine work causing the ring to catch and break? There can be alot of determining factors here, and something is definitely wrong. You need to get it taken care of immediately before you harm things further.... What happened this time it sounds like it overheated. And possibly hot siezed.

What the Pres. is trying to do IS take away that incentive to work overtime. This in turn will force employers to hire more help=create more jobs. In theory of course. What will actualy happen is different. And I didn't hear anythign about it untill a week or two ago. It is very true, and it will happen. if noone does anything about it.....

I would mix 32:1. 4 oz. to 1 gallon. A gallon is 128 ounces. SO you can figure it out that way..

Is the kill switch and the key on?

I just noticed a funny thing on my spare set of carbs as I was cleaning the garage the other day. I looked in the air cleaner side of the carb, and there is a port that goes in from the "bell" of the carb, and exits into the slide chamber. There is a brass ball that is pressed into the back of the carb in this "port". I don't know how to explain it, but I think this may be some sort of fault. Also, I didn't see where the choke circuit dumped anything into the slide chamber to make it stick. but, hearing the solution that popping the choke made it unstick throws a monkey wrench into the problem... I have to research it further. I may disassemble these carbs completely and see Exactly what makes them tick. I was gonna sell them, but in the name of research, I may donate them to the banshee gods!!!

Yes, left side has 2 tubes, right side has one.

You took it to the DEALER???? Oh boy!! that is NEVER a good thing. Unless your dealer is K&K or something like that. Anyways, I have never used a torque wrench on the rear axle nutz. And never had a problem. But, I am thinking that your bearings didn't seat into the carried all the way. This is causing your inner race ont he bearings to get pinched and misaligned when they are crimped in untill they contact the sleeve. And you do need the sleeve, it is supposed to stop this problem from happening. But, if the bearings aren't seated, than the spacer isn't going to do it's job. i have seen it before, and it sounds like that is your problem...

Water can also promote corrosion, and it is not a lubricator of any kind. if you want to use water, and no coolant, use some water wetter, or something like it.... -
Believe it or not, your automobile alternator puts out AC voltage as well. It is even 3 phase!!!! However, it is internally switched to DC current that can be used by the vehicle. On a banshee, they could get away with just using the AC voltage, so they left it that way....

There is no "free fix" for a sacked out chain. If it is skipping on the front sprocket, that means there are no teeth left on the sprocket to grab the chain. in this case, you will need new chain and sprockets. Front AND rear sprockets. When replacing just the chain on a set of worn out sprockets, you will just eat up the chain, and be SOL again in a month or so. And have wasted money. I know that it is expensive to replace worn out parts, especially when it always seems like it comes when you don't have any $$ to fix it. But, would you want that worn out chain to break, and wrap up and break the case? That would be some serious $$ to fix that, if it did happen. I would change the sprockets and all bro. Before serious dilemmas ensue.....
-
That's because lights don't care if it is AC or DC voltage. And your shee does in fact put out AC voltage. in order for you to run a battery, you will have to purchase a voltage rectifier from the local electronics store, and isolate the battery from the rest of the electrical system.
-
Not unless you shear the key or the timing plate has been modded and it comes loose. Or a faulty CDI, but I have never heard of the latter causing improper timing, only a dead CDI... I am thinking that you had slightly lean jetting, and this heated up the situation, and made an improperly set up head design show it's ugly face...

You want to drop that kind of loot on a single carb setup when all you have to do is clean the carbs? If so, when you do decide to pull the intakes and the carbs and airbox off, let me know, I'll give ya $20 for it all. And I'll pay shipping of course!!

Go buy a clymer repair manual. Get a tester,(multimeter) and start testing everything they give specs for. this should help you narrow down the problem.... Have you done a compression check on it?
