  1. Well, that depends if the rod and ball are stuck in the shaft. if they are stuck, splitting the cases is almost eminent. If it slides out, than you are in business!!!! If not, pull the motor and split the case, and press the ball and rod out of the tranny shaft......
  2. I think I have a switch assembly at home. And what is this business you speak of about a start switch? You have electric start on the bike??
  3. Who ported them and what bore are they on?
  4. What a coinkidink!!! That's what is on my bike too!!!!!!!!! Along with my custom stem!!!!
  5. I can do it for half that.... BD can do it too..... Don't go to your local chop shop for that.....
  6. That ball acts as the bearing between the clutch pressure plae and the rod that is moved by the engagement lever. I hope that you got the rod out with ease. Often times it is lodged inside the transmission shaft and is fairly difficult to remove. Keep your transmission oil level up to full, and don't coast ANYWHERE with the clutch pulled in. if memory serves me correctly, you stated in another post you were drag racing and at the end of the race, you had no clutch. I am guesstimating that you pulled in the clutch at the end of the run, and coasted a little. That will do it. Especially if the oil was a little low. Or, pulling in the clutch for every shift with the oil low, and draggin, (high RPM shifts) was just too much for it.
  7. I am not sure about unplugging certain things. What I did on my bike, I got the TORS eliminator kit at the same time as my parking brake block off. I just unplugged the brain module which is located under the fuel tank adjacent from the coil. (the left side)
  8. I read somewhere about someone coating pistons with something. i think it may have been teflon. Supposed to reduce heat build up...... I think it was in an RD 400 engine though.... I am not sure.
  9. I am in the Swamper capitol of the country it seems. EVERYONE runs swampers. I get to try alot of them. I wouldn't rule the SX's out just yet. if you don't mind the noise, you can't beat the SX. But, you may get a little better road performance out of the SSR.
  10. AHHHHHH!!!!! Lemme guess. After the run, you pulled in the cluch, and coasted a little. My new guess is that you welded the ball to the clutch rod.....
  11. You say you have no clutch. I am betting that the pressure plate isn't lined up properly. There are arrows on the plate, that have to be lined up with the inner hub. This is explained in the Clymer manual, as is the clutch adjustment. If you don't have a manual, GET ONE!!!!!!!! THey are invaluable. Once the pressure plate is installed properly, then you can adjust the free play. There are arrows on the case and the engagement lever. They must line up. The adjuster for this is located in the center of the pressure plate.....
  12. The spark arrestor equipped will have a USFS (United States Forest Service) stamp and number on them. That is all they can bitch about. Unless there is a noise ordinance. But, in order for them to cite you (write you a ticket) they have to be able to measure the noise level in db..... Most cops won't have that type of equipment on them...... As long as you have a spark arrestor, you should be all god....
  13. I can't remember his name, but he very recently sent me one off of an '87 that was the rustiest that I have ever seen..... He was when he got his blingin' unit back..... As long as you can get it off in the proper manner, (with the correct puller) and it doesn't get bent, (like if you used a 3 jaw on it) i can lighten it. I'll PM you with price info......
  14. Sounds like you need to seal the exhaust fitting(s) up. What mix are you running? (oil and fuel). Jetting can be determined ffrom the plug color......
  15. The SX's ride the worst. Which I must say, isn't bad. I drive two vehicles with SX swampers on them. 80+ MPH, not a problem. Keep in mind they are only "H" rated tires. WHich are only rated to 80 MPH. I like them. Traction in the mud, and off road is the best with the SX's. On road performance is good, but not as good as a radial. THis is a half bias, half radial tire. By far the noisiest of the three. PEople will har you coming..... TSL radial tires ride pretty good. Slightly better than the SX's. They look retarded IMHO. I don't like the skinny treads on the tire. Traction off road is good, noticeably less than the SX. On road performance is slightly better than the SX. The SSR radial is a wonderful tire. traction off road is between the TSl radial and the SX. Not too shabby. Ride quality is the best on this tire. On road performance is superb, with Sipes in the tread for wet road conditions. (also good for wet rocks and such...) Noise is minimal Off road performance is great. If money was no concern, I would go with this tire. I had another thought. If you are going to be in sand alot, I would look into a TRX/US STS radial. An excellent sand tire. It won'd do dick in the mud, but sand and on road, they are EXCELLENT!!!!!!
  16. It's a catch 22. You can't please EVERYONE. Someone at one point or another is going to have a problem with something. I don't approve of the things that Bush does to please himself, or his bussies. but oh well. I'm not in a position to do very much about it. Yes, I can vote, but it is like choosing the lesser of several idiots. They are all morons in my opinion. Politics is the worst thing in this country. People in positions of power abuse it. That's the bottom line......
  17. I'll buy it the way it sits. What you want for it? I don't live far from PA. Where you at?
  18. Look out for pesky 4 stroke bikes that will want to race. Waste them repeatedly. Unless they are on a 450 and have some sort of a clue of what they are doing.... Also be on the lookout for miscellaneous checks and credit card charges for aftermarket parts for your new bike that seem to always add up..... Spend your $$$ wisely and you will be a happy rider......
  19. Lighter side huh, and you had oily nonsense out of that pipe? Do you have compression on both cylinders? Any scraping noises?
  20. Dune Demon. I may be interested in a different rear spring for my bike. I plan on having the rear shock re valved (stocker) and While I'm at it, I was going to get a new spring. I'm a large individual. 235 lbs.
  21. You don't need reed spacers unless your running 35mm carbs and you need clutch arm clearance.....
  22. You can run a Toomey Hush kit. (If you have toomey pipes) You can run Turbine Core II silencers with your FMF and some other pipes. Or, you can adapt a Cobra Sparky to whatever silencer you end up getting and your god to go. The Cobra is a universal spark arrestor that clamps on the end of the silencer. I suggest the Hush kit or the Turbine Core II. I hate my CObra Sparkys......
  23. Do you have compression on that side? Spark? Fuel? I am guessing there is fuel, because of the mess on the ass end... You need to narrow it down to spark or compression and/or fuel..... The three things needed for a motor to run....
  24. Kind of like the Maytag repair man.......
