Looking around on here for a buddies 2006 LTR 450. His site isnt big enough, and he knows that this one gets a tonne of exposure, so we thought we'd try it out. Hes looking for an Elka, Fox Float, TCS or whatever setup, with stock A arms? Let me know, thanks guys!

I too have a set, let me know if the others arent what youre looking for.

I dont know enough about the actual mechanics of a correct hone job, to know if its a good system or not, but it sure looks like a fool proof system for a re ring. Good luck with it, and let us know how it works out for you.

Hell of a price drop man, you on the lamm? Thats a running machine in good shape for less than my winter mods! -
I knew that was going to happen! Take it easy fellas!

I run a Vitos hemi head, version 1, and like it as well , just like the other guys. I did it again, I would buy a product that runs with stock studs to avoid any hassles, and for ease of switching back if needed. Make sure the domes are interchangebale as well

Sent me some parts free, not huge stuff, but parts that were hard to find, really appreciated it! Thanks Shawn!

Home from the cottage just in time then! Congrats Tyler on everything that you have achieved with this site, and thanks a million to all the guys who have helped me with my project, I wouldnt have even bought a shee again without this site.

Just my opinion, but as soon as it was bought, it was shot! Do yourself a favour and get a proflow adaptor plate for your stock airbox, and install dual foam filters, then when they get dirty, you can use soap and water to clean them, and them buy some filter oil and recoat for piece of mind. I had my KN filter rattle loose more than once from the holder, once it does, all that shit starts entering the motor and can harm it real fast!

X2, the case vent hole is right in front of case stud #16, but Id love to see a pic of it too, I asked 2 weeks ago for this!

Heres mine with a clark 5.5 gallon tank before I sold it. As the other guy said the only drag is that you have to cut your plastics to fit them, but I have a set of cut fronts that you can also see in the pic, that I would love to trade for a non cut set, as it would be a shame to cut them if you didnt have to. Papasmurf has my old tank, and is a guru of the oversized tanks http://s752.photobucket.com/albums/xx162/amidlifecrisis/Plastics/

Yeah the .010 over is .25mm over , .040 over is 1mm over and so on and so forth. As far as the cast pistons vs. the forged, the cast pistons expand at a different rate than the forged and make them more unpredictable, although I believe that a stock piston is also cast.

Got my domes today and although they were used, they look like new, really appreciate the communication too. Thanks again Tim Matt

Ive got the stock airbox, with a lid (but not the stock one), K&N filter, and outerware $50 shipped. The filter needs a good clean though, Ive never used it, it came on my bike before I changed my setup.

Hey, Ive got a stock thumb throttle and cable that is on my bike and I cant stand it! No Tors on my bike. Ill do you a straight trade for the twist and cable, which is what Im used to, as long as it comes with everything Ill need to just hook it up? Ill send you everything Ive got too. This is for a stock carb setup, not sure if youre running stock carbs? I think Ive said it before, love that colour combo!

The pros have spoken on this, but here is a copy of the plug chop that I downloaded after listening to AK, in the past few weeks, 2-Stroke Plug Chop how-to: 1. Get new spark plug(s), but don't put them in yet. 2. Warm up motor to operating temp on old plugs. 3. Install new plugs. 4. Accellerate through all gears to top gear with throttle pinned. 5. When you hit the top of the top gear, hit the kill switch and pull in the clutch. 6. Remove the spark plug(s) and ride home on the old plug(s). 7. Hold the new plug in a vise and use a hacksaw to cut the threads away from the center electrode. 8. You should see a brown 2mm "smoke ring" at the base of the white center electrode if the main jets are dialed in perfect. 9. if the smoke ring is darker than chocolate brown or taller than 2mm, you're rich on the mains, but if it revs clean to full throttle, you can leave it there and be on the rich side. 10. If the smoke ring is smaller than 2mm or lighter than chocolate brown, you're lean on the mains, go up a size and try again.

So what they do to port your cyliders is open up the intake, exhaust , primary and secondary ports to increase the flow thru your cylinders. They also can create a boost port thru the wall of the secondary to increase power again. They should also be matching the pipes to the port job they do, and giving you the best match for your type of riding.

X2, these things are pretty simple to rebuild, so ride it out for the season then do what you need to over the winter. I had never rebuilt a 2 stroke otor before I bought this thing in Februrary of this year. With help from these guys, and a clymer manual, it made it pretty simple, oh and before you need it, buy a correct flywheel puller, so that you have it. Yeah the size of your present pistons in case you havent figured it out, are 64.75mm, and usually each time you resize it is increased by .25mm, up to 66mm, then you can resleeve, and start again.

All great advice fellas, thanks! What about the YFZ front end then, is it wider than our stock A arms? Is it lighter, better? Do they bolt right up, or what is involved with the change? By the way Matt, nice pic on the avatar, someone you know, you lucky guy!

Thanks for the clarification, totally helpful!

This is exactly what Im talking about, I guess all of the builders are american. I have been helped out immensely by Alfie, but hes on your coast, and it will cost me a fortune in shipping, just to get parts. Its costing me $700, to buy my pistons etc..and get my cylinders honed, and he took 1mm off the walls without checking with me first.
-
So that sums it up! Why change from a stock setup to an aftermarket one, or even a YFZ front end? I presently have TCS fronts with rezzies on a stock front end. Are the stock ones crappy? Also, how do you tell the difference between an A to a J front end?

Opening a can of worms asking about pistons here! Most of these guys use the wisecos because of good luck with huge numbers, vitos are great pistons as well, namuras claim to have molybdenum coatings etc.... to help with friction, but dollar for dollar stick with the tried tested and true product when its time to rebuild.

So, I have been talking with one of the site sponsors on email, and it has become painfully obvious to me that the guys that me and my buddies are taking our bikes to here in Durham, Ontario are riding us hard. I will send as much work to him (our site sponsor) as I can from now on, when time permits. For when Im in a bind for time though, does anyone who lives or rides in canada or more specifically ontario, have a place where we can go for honest work?
