Pulling the motor, and splitting the cases isnt that big of a deal, just get the manual if youre doing it for your first time. The biggest issue is having them open, while you inspect, clean and order whatever you need to fix it. Remembering how to put it all back together is sometimes the issue. Keep good notes for yourself in your manual if you come across something strange, and dont be afraid to come on here and ask questions. Take your time, itll go back together fine, and youll have a broader knowledge of your bike and be able to diagnose things more easily when they happen. Im having the same kind of issue with my clutch. I havent opened it up yet, but to be safe, I have always kept a spare tranny, clutch setup, gasket set etc.....just in case.
