to do the timing yo need this Rick Stator
all you do is pull fly wheel and unbolt the stator and unbolt the coil an dbolt it to this ans set it at +4 and youll be good for 93 Oct. the head is not necessary for port work or carbs. it is just the ease of changint domes to up the compression thus power BUT you need race gas above 160ish PSI. and porting and carbs do not have to go together. BUT if you get a nice dune port then you will want some slightly bigger carbs.
instead of a cool head you can just have the stock head milled to up the compression IDK how much i don't remember. that is a BIG savings for a little bit of power. maybe $20-30 at a machine shop. if you ride trails smaller carbs are better for low end. and you can get a trail port.
all depends on you type of riding let us know and we can tell you what your best setup would be. ALSO if you dont need it for mud and water you can loose the airbox and get pods and outerwears.
please tell me you didn't use the same plugs you took out. does it star right back up or take aw while? and only wen hot or cold or both? sounds to me like its loading up with fuel or does it winde up before dieing.
if its now both my gues would be electrical. check all ur plugs and cconnector and wiring for melted wires
the 916s got discontinued when they came out with the aliens. just search for them on ebay.. from what ive also heard is that the headpipes are the same on the 916's as the aliens. just doesnt go into that kickass silence. i got a set on one of my banshee's and they are really mid to topend pipes.. i like them tho.
well if he has stock cylinders and no spacer plate. then just drain the coolant and take off the head. get a caliber and check the bore. and if its got a scroker domes (domes that are recessed a little more hten 2mm then its a stroker if it doesnt have a plate it will have the domes.
Well take off the carbs and intakes and look inside and take pics and get back to us. that wil tell us if its ported. other then that the only thing to do is take the top end off and see what the bore is and if its stroked.
well you dont loos the top end if done rtight , and if you do loose some, just change your sprocket. you will have A LOT more power with the stroker shee then stock. and what do you plan on doing with the bike, that justifies how big you go.
yeah ive bought bad brand new batteries before and yeah DO NOT charge them on high amprage the first time you will cook the cells, just dont tell walmart that, jsut tell em it dont work
if your stock timing then that wasnt detonating. what rating fuel are you using. your jetting could be lean. any detonation caused plugs to back out, also gets hot and melts pistons.
then yeah you should be good with the big carbs and people who talk bad about PJ's i have nothing wrong with mine. and they are A LOT cheaper the PWK's
well if you go big that big with the carbs you arent going to want the FMF pipes. you need somthing higher up. i have toomeys on mine but im going to get CPI's or somthing because the T-5's are to pipey for me but the big carbs and port are soooo nice
screw the autoparts store. there is a little hydraulic shop on cheyenne and civic center in the area by napa. and ever been to ATV Cycle Sports? if no go there for ANY parts ask for "parts bob" 223-3586
well i HAD two of them i couldnt get em jetted right. and of all thing only one side burnt up on one. i now have one back to stock carbs and the other that is ported had a trinity on it and thats the one that burnt up. now have 34pj's and couldn't be happier.
ok the lightning motor you are after will fit fine the 4.6 , 5.4 amd 6.8 V10 are modular same motor mounts accessory mounts and trans mounts NOTHING 3V will work with the old 2V and you dont gain power putting in a lighter car. you can NOT beat the lighting motor for 750 if you dont want it where is it so i can get it.
i had a mustang i was gona put a V10 in cause i knew someone who did it, but it is a TIGHT!!!! fit and i bought a TransAm insted
