  1. True. The thing I've heard that makes the most sense is that the case halves are line bored for the crank bearings and if one set was off enough from another, you could have problems. I would think you could see the discrepancy there if it was big enough to put enough pressure on the bearing cages to cause a failure. JMO though
  2. Not possible. If it was that's obviously what I'd do. The smallblock twister cylinders require the top case half to be bored to accept the larger sleeves, and the case porting wouldn't even be close. I already have a set of cases ported for the twister, just didnt want to hassle with swapping the tranny and entire bottom end out of the other ones, but I suppose I will take the time to avoid any issues. I would still like to hear of where this caused a problem though. Everyone says "dont do it the universe will explode" but I have never heard of anyone having problems from it.
  3. The dump tubes are too small. Trust me, I've had the same exact problem. You need to drill the dump tubes to at least .122 even if you dont plan on running that big of a main jet. The needle is plugging off too much of the dump with it at .118 and causing it to run away. Drill them to .122 and it will purr like a kitten
  4. Who has done this and did the universe collapse on itself when you did? I have a set of cases ported for my 4mil twister and I'm thinking about just putting the top case half and topend on my HJR engine. Should I do that, or just swap the entire transmission and everything? Word
  5. Dont know, haven't stripped them down. The silencers were chrome and scuffed up slightly then painted black. The head pipes could be as well.
  6. The reason for the low price is because these have been painted black. They actually look good though and like I said I already stripped the silencers and they just need polished if someone wants to. I'm not going to put a bunch of time into these and sell them for this price. Someone can take it or leave it, this is an outright steal for a good set of shearer small bores. They look just fine black, I see people run black CPI's all the time for the sleeper effect. They are not dinged up or beat up, and they will run hard. PM's replied. Thanks for the input guys Greg
  7. Up top. Someone give me 285 for these. They work great, not beat up, etc. Make a sleeper with the black pipes or strip and polish them up!
  8. I have a set of black small bore in frame shearers. Great shape. The silencers were black and I stripped the paint off and they are chrome underneath, just need polished. Asking 325.00 Loc: 82009 Will split shipping with the buyer. email gregrob20 AT gmail.com for quickest response. Thanks, Greg
  9. BUMP Someone needs a good set of cases
  10. I have a spare set of engine cases. No porting or any damage besides the normal chain break. I just ended up with a spare set and could let these go. 100 + the ride. paypal gregrob20@gmail.com Thanks, Greg
  11. YES YES YES. Methanol "not 'alky'" is TOTALLY worth it, especially for a drag bike. People make purging out to be a way bigger deal than it really is. 1) Either drain the existing methanol out of your tank when you're finished riding, put in a little purge gas and run the bike. 2) Get a small bottle (like a Lucas oil stabilizer bottle or similar with a nozzle on the end), make a tee out of fuel line, unhook your fuel lines and hook up the tee, bottle feed and run the bike. It's really pretty simple, takes about 5mins. The gains from going to meth from race gas are awesome. You won't be sorry you did. There IS a learning curve on the tuning though, that's the most time consuming part is getting it dialed in, but when you do you will have a grin.
