LOL, thanks and i agree, but someone already did that. No TORS on my Banshee. It's actually an ALBA Banshee. -
Newbie, help, full throttle at start up
mooney replied to mooney's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks, checked the slides already, they seem to be moving just fine and freely. Nothing looks stuck when I check them unless they are sticking only when running and unstick when I shut it down. Until I get this Banshee to idle I can sync it  -
When I start my Banshee now it races right up to full throttle and won't come back down. I have to shut it down. I had to replace a sticky throttle cable (I thought this was the issue), but it wasn't the problem. What causes this or what should I look for now? I'm a relative ATV newbie so go slow. Thanks, Mooney in PA

THANKS!!! That looks like the right cable for sure. I even went to the motion pro website and couldn't find that cable. I guess I am a dumba$$. Thanks again!

I kind of stumped 2 dealers so I don't feel all that dumb, but I can't believe it's this hard to find the right throttle cable. I need a new throttle cable and I ordered the stock 97 one from the dealer. Well it was nowhere close to what was on my ride. I guess I have something aftermarket. My friend tells me it's a flat slide type, but doesn't know anything else. The carbs say SUDCO on them and from my internet research they look like they may be TMX but not sure what size (no markings telling me what size on the bodys). Does the size matter when ordering the throttle cable, and where can I order it? The local shops seem to be clueless and the online pics only show a single cable not the 1 into 2 style cable. Anyone care to tell me where I'm missing the boat? I'd really like to get some riding in this weekend, but looks like I'll have to wait on ordering this darn cable BTW - My 97 is an ALBA Racing version if that helps. Mooney

Are you selling the rest of the bike as well? I am in central PA as well and i need a good frame and title, maybe other parts because of a bad purchase from a guy who doesn't have a title for the ATV I bought. Mooney in PA

LOACL PICKUP IN NJ Splitting up a 1996 Banshee
mooney replied to LiftdT4R's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
hmmmmmmm, no titles for atvs in NJ, are you sure? do you have registration requirements in NJ? How do you prove it's yours if the PoPo messes with you at an event? If NJ is truly a no title state for ATVs then a Bill of sale will work, but my DMV will look up NJ rules and regs to see if they issue titles for ATVs and if they do they will want to see it before letting me register it in PA, like a car or motorcycle. Anyway, where in NJ are you? Any chance you can bring it with you if you come out to the hills in PA at the end of the month? Thanks, Mooney in PA -
LOACL PICKUP IN NJ Splitting up a 1996 Banshee

Got a title for that frame? I may need a frame and title if the PO can't track down the CA title for my new to me Banshee  -
Thanks for the info guys, looks like I may have be headed for a standoff with the PO if he can't get a title from the old owner. I am guessing my options may be to get my money back and return the Banshee or have him pay from my costs to get a new frame and title. Anyone in the PA MD DE NJ area s have a good frame and title in your name?

Before I raise a red flag with the local cops and DMV, can some one confirm for me if back when the 1997 Banshees were new in CA they may not have had titles issued? The previous owner was told by the PO in CA that titles were not issued in 1997. I do trust the guy I bought it from, but he's never tried to register it, only raced it. I want a title and registration for club events and trail rides that require it, but now I'm concerned I may need to dig a bit to see if this deal was truely a good deal for me. It does have a 2006 CA sticker of some sort on the rear fender. Hmmmmmm I wonder how (why) the PO got a CA Banshee in PA anyway. I hope it wasn't hot. Any help would be much appreciated, Mooney in PA

Just posting an intro. I'm new to the HQ and Quads. My brother-in-law talked me into this new distraction (let me ride his Honda TRX450R a few times :yelrotflmao: ) and now I'm hooked. I've ownerd an old Yamaha 2 stroke RZ350 so had to buy a banshee since it's engine is basically the same engine  Here's some pics of the Banshee I'm buying for $1800: I hope to run into some of you PA peeps once i figure out how to ride this Banshee right and where to ride besides by brother-in-laws field Mooney South Central PA Area

Thanks, but you all had me looking for a RZ350 yesterday and I'm already watching that RZ. Problem is my last 2 vintage vehicles on eBay had deadbeat bidders 3 times and I'm still trying to sell them. Anyone interested in 1 or 2 old flat front Ford trucks, one pickup and one panel van for hauling your Quads, LOL? Great Quad haulers  Mooney

Thanks for the help and info folks. Looks like I'm going to move on this Banshee and make it mine The banshee engine is pretty much the same engine that was in my RZ350 and as LiftdT4R stated it's just a non-powervalved version: "The Banshee utilized a unique power plant, a non-powervalved version of Yamaha's RZ350" This is from a Yamaha site with some history on the banshee. I had guys asking me if I had any engines or if I'd like to sell my RZ350 back when I had my street bike. They wanted them for their banshees, seemed like the thing to do in the late 90's. If you look at this page: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products.../0/gallery.aspx you can see the yellow and black 50th edition Banshee that is painted just like the Kenny Roberts version of the RZ350. Here is a picture of a bike just like the one I use to own: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/80/1985_RZ350.jpg See the similarities? I'd love to have the 2006 50th yellow and black banshee, then I'd have to find another RZ350 to match it....hmmmmmm....I may just have to work on that for a future purchase. I'll thrash around on this older Banshee first, then I'll find a 2006 version and also a matching RZ350  Anyway, I'll get some pics and more specs on the 1997 banshee I'm getting this week or weekend and post them. Looking forward to posting, Mooney Dillsburg, PA

"HEY NOW" from south central PA! I found the search button and used it  But... I see lots of people stating a Banshee isn't a good choice for an ATV newbie, but no real reasons why. Can someone give me some more info before I decide to buy or not? I've owned the 80's Yamaha RZ350 so I'm comfortable with riding the Yamaha 2 stroke 350 in a street bike. I also have a buddy with a Honda TRX450R to help teach me the ropes on riding. I've taken his atv for a few rides. The bike I am looking at is a 1997 Alba racing Banshee from a local friend who races a cannondale and use to race this Banshee a little. He tells me it's an original Alba Banshee (has the ALBA name on the seat and plastic) with a new top end, CDI box, and stator. He tels me ALBA use to build Banshees with their upgrades already on it, is that true? If yes where can I find info on what may be upgraded or modified on this Banshee. The seller didn't mod it any further then ALBA stock. My buddy and I took it for a ride and it starts up and runs awesome, so seems to be a good runner. He wants 1800 for it. Any thoughts and info would be appreciated. Also looking for places and people to go riding with in the area, so if you're local let me know. TIA Mooney Dillsburg, PA
