You know what man, i wouldn't bash them for the heims. The reality is that a full set of good quality heim joints like auroras cost more than they sell the whole damn arms for. Spend 300 on arms, you get chinese shit joints. I know that, i get it. I hate ASR for the shitty service i received after the sale. I had some problems with a swinger and they dicked me around for months. They never did do anything for me. I had to do some machine work on it to get it to work. Pisses me off because the tried every excuse in the book to blame me. Please bitches, this isn't my first barbecue. LOL Its funny because when you call them to buy shit they act like pros, then when there is an issue all you get is i dont knows and we've never had that problem before. For the record, i fit the arm up on 3 different bikes, and the fucking sprocket was out of alignment on all 3 the exact amount. They tried to tell me all 3 bikes were bent. Im not going to get rid of my arms, but i wont buy anything from them and will go out of my way to trash them every chance i get. there have been several other guys on here that had similar experiences. I do feel that for a bike that sees a lot of miles, ball joints would be way cheaper in the long run. Oh well, live and learn.

The welds that come on the hotrods cranks is not big enough. Everybody recomends putting a bigger bead on there. I honestly dont remember what the charge was for that. I bought everything at once. Dont qoute me, but i think the maxload bearing was around $50. It was recomended, so i did it. Like dajo said, you might be able to get a screaming deal on a low hour stocker and have it welded and trued. That would save you some coin. You could have a woods/trail port done. This in combo with a good set of midrange pipes would make it a blast. Sounds like you probably dont need it, but hey you can never have too much power right  Again, if you decide to have the motor ported, may as well do the 4mm stroke. It would add some torque, and with a nice moderate port job, and the correct pipes i would think would kick ass on the trails. You need to look at the basket and inner hub. If they are grooved, replace them. You can upgrade the basket to billet, about 150 new, or might be able to find a good used billet or stocker. The inner hub is about 50 bucks i think. As far as the clutch, you can go to the FZR fibers and barnett or raptor steels i believe. Or buy a clutch kit from one of the vendors all put together for you. for the motor you are doing, i think 3 HD springs would be plenty. The clutch kit Jeff sells is holding my 421 cub with 6 hd springs and no lock up so far. Here is the pancake bearing http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=193 The modded shift star has the tips of the star ground down to make the bike shift easier. I have a modded shift star and modded shaft on one of my bikes, shifts great. there are lots of options there Whoever you end up buying your parts from can tell you his favortite method. I have no idea if the tri Z impelar is the same. Get the prodesign, the older modquad units were junk as they had aluminum shafts that grooved up really quickly. Get a manual, take your time, ask lots of questions and you should be fine. I would call a few different suppliers and see which you like. They can hook you up with everything you need to build a good motor that will last a long time. Phil

Fuck ASR, they are dicks. I have them on my bike, the arms are fine. The heims devolped slop after 2 trips to the dunes. Not to mention if you have any problems the people at ASR are retards and dont know shit about banshees. Id look elsewhere. I have heard a lot of guys speak highly of the wicked arms. personally, the next set i buy will have ball joints not heims. Heims or balljoints, its your call, but please dont buy anything from ASR. They are assholes. Just my .02

For reliablity purposes, you are going to want the crank welded and trued. For good prices there are several site sponsors that can hook you up. FAST and Herrjugs are 2 names you are going to see on here a lot. They are both site sponsors and contributors. I dont think those prices you listed are terrible, but not great either. I buy most of my stuff from Jeff at FAST racing. He will hook you up. I would get a crank from him and have him weld/true it and you may want to upgrade the bearing on the PTO to a maxload. If you dont want to get it ported, I would go with a stock stroke 5mil long rod crank. You would then run 795 series pistons to compensate for the longer rod. That would make for a nice long lasting motor. If you want to get it ported, you may as well get the 4mil stroker crank and have the cylinders ported to match. Probably should upgrade the clutch while you are in there, and get yourself a pancake bearing style clutch disengagement adjuster. You may also want to consider a billet water pump impelar. Other than that just inspect everything and take your time.

Build the Ultmiate Banshee Tranny
rubberneck replied to 01CandyBlue's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Just an FYI, The RZ drum is the same as the banshee. the only difference is the shift forks. The "lug" that rides in the drum is on a bearing on the RZ stuff. I have RZ forks on my CUB bike along with a modded star and shift pro. It is all getting replaced with a duneable override. I didn't back cut my gears, but I am going to do that when i remove my trans and put this trans and Rz forks in my dunerbike. I think when the HP really starts to get up there, the override is the way to go to make them shift nice. -
Check condition of/ replace cable. Buy yourself one of the cablelubers that clamps on and lube it until you see clean lube come out the other end. YOU will be amazed at the difference.

So the kicker and pegs are sold then? -
Thanks JB, it kicks ass. Its going to look even better in my garage next to my other bikes. Get in line kawiqueen. LOL

On my cub I sharpened my stockers to points, and with boots on, i haven't come off of them yet. On my bolt on bike, i never sharpened the pegs, and have slipped off in some rough stuff. the nets on the nerfs caught my foot. saved my ass. I agree nicer pegs would help. but the nerfs just add a little oh shit safety factor. LOL

Popping and backfireing at High RPM

I concur. I put blue loctite on the nut itself, and then a couple of drops of red on the pinch bolt and all is good. I think loctite is the most important thing any banshee owner can keep in his tool box. LOL

What kind of stator do you have in the bike? I had a shitty rickystator that did the same thing. -
Listen, Im not trying to be a dick, but, you just cost yourself a stator when all you had to do was spend 13 bucks for the proper flywheel puller and avoid the situation. You might want to check that flywheel and make sure you did not bend it. Using a puller in the holes or on the outside edge can ruin the flywheel.

Him and another nascar guy were at dumont last year for new years. Blew both bikes up 1st day. Said that the plugs came loose before it blew couldn't figure it out. Hello detonation LOL. He might be able to drive like a MOFO, but obviously cant tune methanol banshees. LOL

As much as i wishi I could go on this trip because it would be cool to put faces to all the names, I try to avoid going anywhere on big weekends anymore. Its a blast to watch the activities, but too many inconciderate drunk a-holes everywhere. last 2 times we've gone on a holiday weekend one of our trucks has been hit by some asshole speeding through camps, plus now that i have kids i dont want them around that shit anyway. I spend the whole damn weekend policing camp and keeping an eye on everything i dont enjoy it. I guess im just getting old and grumpy Not to mention all the fucking thieves out there. make sure you guys lock everything up and be carefull. -
Heads and pistons for cubs and cheetahs
rubberneck replied to eagle's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The 65 mm bore cub uses banshee style pistons. The 68mm cub uses blaster pistons. The cub uses stock with cut chambers for style of piston or "coolhead" with appropriate domes. The supercub uses a supercub head which is similar in appearance to a standard coolhead and i believe the bore is 72mm. I know noss makes supercub heads which would obviously require appropriate domes to go with it. The cheetah uses a cheetah specific head, and like mentioned above the 250 reed cages/intakes and has the added benefit of coming in a powervalve version. Bang for the buck everybody is going to tell you to go with a 4mil cub (421) Requires no modifications to the cases (Crank drops right in and no boring of upper case for larger bore) and uses standard banshee components such as intakes/reeds etc. HP in the 80-100 Hp range depending on porting/fuel/pipes is possible. You will want 35-39mm carbs and high rpm pipes such as shearer or CPI etc. Keep in mind you are going to need a better clutch and a lockup and override would be recomended. More than likely you would want a longer swingarm so keep that in the budget as well. You better budget about 4K to do everything new and right. Can save some dough shopping on here. -
My bolt on bike has them and i really like the added safety. Dont like the way they look, but ill give a little. I want to make a "half" set. Kind of like a heel guard but out of aluminum tubing for my cub bike.
-
I also buy my tires from cascade because they are on this side of the country and i get them fast and shipping doesn't kill me. If you aren't in a hurry look for used. My last 2 sets, i got from members on here. they both looked like new. Keep your eyes open, guys are always wanting to try new tires and you can pick them up here for reasonable prices.

You might have the 4 gallon tank. they look more stock and dont require cutting the front plastic like the 5 gallon does. I dont like the way the 5 gallon looks but still plan on getting one so I can carry total of 6.5 gallons (including my can on my 6pack rack) for those long rides. My cub drinks fuel as fast as i can pour it in. LOL
