  1. I dont know why it is, but some of us have to run big mains on our 39s others dont. Maybe its the needles. I have DGH needles on a 4mil cub, and 185 mains were ok at 90 degrees, went for a night ride at 60 and lost a piston too lean. Live and learn. My bike wouldnt make it out of camp with 160s. Motor was Pressure tested when built and after lost piston, tight as a frogs ass. Some bikes just need big mains.

I dont think he ever said he was using regular gas, i just asked becuase even with 20 cc domes you get an uncorrected compression of over 14:1. with 18cc it is sky high, and im not sure 110 would be enough. I guess he will find out. But, the bike would rev out better with less compression.. Compression will help out down low, but is going to hinder him on top at that high from what i have been told. Never ran it that high so cant comment from 1st hand experience. im thinking if t4s were worth a shit we would hear about them. My guess is the CPIs will make more power, but i dont have 1st hand experience. Im sure he will let us know.

  7. 80 a piece or 80 for all 3. 80 for all 3 doesn't sound too bad. Im pretty sure cascade sells them new if you need them. As far as sparks, I have never been checked for those at Pismo, but they can bust you for it. I think that if you have silencers they will probably be enough, but you know how that goes. Im pretty sure the clamp on sparkys designed for the T5's will work on shearer silencers though if you want to be 100% safe. I am going to look for a set just to take with me if the rangers are in full dick mode.
  8. If it were me, Id have that same guy do up some carbon fiber race cut rear fenders. Then do the neon yellow seat. I think that would be absolutely sick and would tie in the theme from front to back.
  9. I think some 7 extremes will make a nice combo dune/playdrag tire. I have a set of 21/12/8 8 paddle reg haulers and they are a nice all around tire on a stock arm. If its a good price snatch em up, you can always turn them on here.
  10. +1 on cascade. Only problem is you better bring a lot of money with you. Guaranteed you spend tripple what you planned. That place has hijacked more than one of my paychecks :biggrin:
  11. Why not paddles? Thats what the jeeps and stuff i see run use. I would think that if you can get up on top like you say they would work great. since its basically a straight up drag race, id be looking for some haulers. Only thing if the start is really hard packed, might not get out of the hole too well. Maybe a molded paddle tire might work better. Im sure somebody on here has done this hopefully they will chime in.

  15. I dont understand why there seems to be such a spread with main jets on 39pwks. Some guys say they run 150-160, and then there is those of us that need to run 190s. Is it due to different needles. My 421 has 39pwk's with DGH needles, 55 pilots. I had 185 mains in it which were good in the heat when i did the plug chop. Made the mistake of going out for a night ride when i was in oregon last time and temps dropped like 30 degrees. Heard it break up 1 time then died. Guess what right piston kaboom. Obviously i was on the edge with 185's Going to throw some 195s in when i get it buttoned back up.
  16. For a trail motor, i would stick with stock ported cylinders. If you really want to spend dough and get crazy you could do a cheetah powervalve motor. The cubs come with "drag spec" porting already. You can get more out of them by having further port work done, but i dont think they are what you are after for trail riding
  17. Broken ring lands = detonation. My guess is that its too much compression for 93 octane. You are running a 4mil, so a 22 cc head is probably pushing the envelope for pump. Did you do a leak down when built to rule out an air leak? Did you do a compression test? Cant help you on jetting, never ran a single carb.
  18. Need to know all mods or we cant tell you if you are close on your jetting. Also is it fouled with fuel or oil?

  20. No i haven't tried t4's, i have shearers, but stop the truck, did you say 18cc domes? Do you realize what the compression is on that thing? With 20 cc domes my 421 kicks 190psi. 20 cc domes give you an uncorrected compresson ratio of about 14:1 even with 110 octane, jetting and timing have to be right or it will detonate. with 18cc, I would think that thing is going to be a detonation machine. Is it ported, are you running alky. Kind of back on topic, the cub loves to scream up top. It just keeps pulling, so i would think any pipe that pulls more rpm is better.
  21. That is not a stock piece on that bike. Look at the aluminum bracket secured with the swinger pivot bolt. Taht is somekind of aftermarket unit I have heard of something called an amplink, is that it??

  23. Yeah, they go out there sometimes. And yeah, if you got a traditional override, you cant let off the gas without pulling the clutch. I know it has been said, but just to reinforce, make sure you get a duneable override so you can let off.
