  1. micrometer... im not sure how you would go about tracing the numbers back.
  2. so you would be able to hear it easily ove rthe noise of the exhaust?
  3. i wouldnt worry too much about it. i think just the one side got a bit hotter and burned the oil out of it. if you held her open for another 10 seconds they would probably both look the kinda dry. when i raced mx on my 125 it would always be smoking out the silencer and look kinda grey and dry inside when i was done
  4. kyle i just had an idea....take whatever silencers you get, take them apart and slide a peice of pipe over the perforated core peice and weld it in there so its basically a straight pipe... good way to ruin some silencers, and make me not want to ride with you, but it would be loud as hell :shoothead:
  5. could be the seal leaking tranny fluid into the bottom end.
  6. what carbs work best will depend on what kind of port job you got, i have a feeling that dual 35s will be too big unless you have a drag port. im still waiting for a chance to ride my bike since i advanced the timing, so no ride report yet
  7. not trying to start an arguement, but i would think that an o ring chain would last longer in the sand because it keeps the sand out of the chain. i dont ride sand so i dont have much experience with it other than the odd pit that has some sand climbs so
  8. when you put the pipes and filter on and jet it accordingly it will be a night and day difference from stock
  9. im not sure what its like, but i would think riding with a lockup would be shitty unless you actually need it. lockup cover is pretty cool lookin though.
  10. i have one. its black and in good shape  my vote goes for a shiny aftermarket grill
  11. if you have an airport in town then see if you can get ahold of av gas. its 100 octane and quite a few people around here run it.
  12. tors or parking brake maybe. choke crossover tube connected?
  13. ok thanks i wnated to know so if i hear it one day to shut it down but im surprised i didnt hear it when i had the timing at +10 for a second. just because it wasnt under load, just revving in neutral. i put it together at +3 degrees, will probably go to 4 later once i know my compression on a guage that i trust.
  14. my squish is .035
  15. i also have that one in favorites. good info
  16. if your airbox is dirty at all on the inside i wouldnt run it at all without a filter, assuming that you run an airbox. i would test with it on because thats how you ride it and it will run slightly richer with the filter on it. also in my experience a lean motor will rev but wont perform too well under full load. first thing i would do is get new intakes and crossover tube and see what that does for you. Hopefully that will solve the problem
  17. i just installed a timing plate the other day, set it at +3 for now. anyway when i still had the cover off i fired it up and played with the timing a bit with the motor running. i put in earplugs and wanted to see how far i could advance it before hearing detonation. i had the plate loose enough that i could move it by hand, and i went all the way to +10 for a few seconds and revved the motor a bit. I couldnt hear anything different at all, other than it revved quicker  it has the head shaved .020, i think my compression is in the 140s maybe 150, and im on 91 octane. i am curious to know what detonation sounds like because i thought it would be good knowledge and for a few seconds it wouldnt hurt anything.
  18. if your compression is actually at 50 psi im surprised that it runs at all. if you were running it without an air filter while testing it then you may have sucked in some dirt and pooched your cylinders. that would explain why it steadily got worse. if i had to guess i would also say you were lean when you rejetted or the higher altitude. how high did you go from where you normally ride and how much smaller jets did you use. edit: the boost bottle could also be to blame because they are known to crack the intakes or have a wire wear through it and cause the motor to run lean
  19. tranny locked up maybe? did it make a crunching sound or like gears grinding?
  20. if you have a clymer manual you shouldnt have any trouble with it. banshees have one of the simplest motors in any bike.
  21. i bought my 03 used for 4000. up here in canada that is considered a good deal. it was a little rough, but not in bad shape really. it just had pipes and k&n filter. i dont like buying vehicles brand new because they depreciate so much right away. You can buy a semi stock bike thats a few years old and put the rest of the money that you would have spent on a brand new one and put that money towards mods and have a bike thats 10 times nicer than a brand new stock one. thats my advice, but once in awhile you get screwed buying used so its buyer beware
  22. i wouldnt pay more than 50 bucks to get the head milled unless you are getting it rechambered. i got mine milled .020 for 30 bucks by the old guy down the road. Taking off .020 put my squish at about .035 so i dont know if you would want to go much farther than that. there are other people that are more knowledgable about this than me though.
  23. if you wear motocross boots they come up high enough to protect your legs from the pipes, even when wearing shorts
  24. i like the 03 yellow and black, but i might be bias i also really like the 99 red and black one
  25. 100 is low, and that much difference from one side to the other also indicates that something is wrong
