  1. I dont think you would notice a difference in power. my 125 had a bunch of dents like that from roost and i replaced the pipe after i crashed and mangled it but didnt notice a difference in power from before the crash so my vote is for dont bother unless you have access to a welder or unispotter
  2. i would just buy the fmf silencers. They will sound and look a bunch better. Im not sure if you would notice more power or not. I would think so though if you really want to use the stock silencers you would have to cut them because they join to the pipes right by the head somewhere and the fmfs join probably 8 inches farther back.
  3. i may be wrong, so someone correct me if i am but with tors you sync the carbs by adjusting the screws on top of the carbs and check that they are synced by taking off the air filter and looking to see that both slides move at the exact same time.
  4. is the choke tube connected, and are the carbs synced?
  5. i would try a smaller pilot anyway, but if that doesnt change anything for the better then i wouldn't worry about the smoke. what oil are you using?
  6. my vote would be for sst's, but i may be biased. i like mine, they hit hard. i have a dyno chart somewhere that shows sst's have the same bottom and top i think but the sst's have a steeper curve. ill see if i can find it
  7. ya thats what i would do  but you could probably just use whatever die you want and get a nut to fit the new threads thats assuming you cant find the right one, and sorry i have no idea what it might be
  8. first off, welcome to the hq  yep some pipes are probably the best first mod, and an aftermarket air filter to go along with them would be a good idea too. i use a k&n. it wouldnt be a bad idea to get rid of the parking brake either, because they dont really work anyway. im not sure whats involved as i bought my bike with the parking brake already removed. as for the ignition, i would just leave it stock. there are many ways to get more power for cheaper. and at this point i wouldnt worry about more cooling unless you ride in insane heat
  9. what first caught my attention and drew me to banshees is the twin everything. i think thats the coolest thing about a banshee, and dont see myself changing that
  10. assuming you arent in desperate need of a rebiuld and have over 100 psi right now, that would give you at least 160 psi and thats means race gas.
  11. assuming you dont want to go crazy with the compression, you dont need to do anything else other than bolt it on there
  12. as far as i know you cant get to 370 cc's with just a bore
  13. i think i found that from somebodys post on this site so i cant take all the credit
  14. this might help http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm
  15. being the 2 into 1 setup it seems strange that it is only one side having the problem, or was it that it switched from side to side? what oil do you use? the way you describe the your plugs it sounds like too much and/or the wrong type of oil maybe
  16. a little advice here, if it is your carrier bearings making the noise, dont go for a ride thinking it will make it a while more. in my experience once they start making noise you have a bout half an hour till they come apart. thats how mine stranded me halfway up the mountain
  17. from what i understand reed spacers would fix that
  18. make sure there are teeth on your sprockets, especially the front
  19. around here (vancouver island, canada) , i bet you could get like 6 grand for it. for reference, i paid 4000 for my 03 with pipes and a k&n filter and its not the prettiest bike either, but for around here that is considered a good deal soo.......
  20. my friends quad does the same thing. he thinks that the moisture causes the slides to freeze open  anyone have something to say about that theory?
  21. it will make your axle bend easier.
  22. i wanted to be that kind of engineer when i was little
  23. from what iv seen, a banshee with pipes is a good match for a 450 with a pipe. this was an 04 yfz. i think the new ones are faster but  on pavement the banshee would have the advantage and on dirt the yfz would win. both skilled riders, fresh motors...... i think the new 450s are faster than the old ones, thus faster than a banshee but whatever, IMO a banshee is more fun, feels faster, gives a better adrenaline rush when you hit powerband
  24. from the bottle to right under the rad cap i think
