yes your carbs are really holding you back. for the type of power you want, i would reccomend a set of 33mm Keihin PWK carbs, some V force 3 reeds, and a nice intake such as Boss racing or similar. if you can, ditch the airbox and run K&N pod filters. tons of people on here will be able to help you with the jetting then. also you have not mentioned what ignition mods you have, if any. there is alot power to be found in the ignition timing. if you currently have no ignition mods, advancing the timing and changing the carbs will easily get you another 10hp, maybe more... also your jolly moto pipes should be pretty close. if you had the larger bore cub (72/73mm) then you would say that they are definitely holding you back. what size domes do you have in the head? what fuel are you using?

a lean stumble is when the bike will surge and "hunt" under throttle because its not getting enough fuel, kinda like when you go for a ride down the road with your fuel off! a rich bog is when it bogs out and dies (it wont usually die altogether) because of too much fuel. it wont be as intermittent as a lean condition and will sound different too. a good way to tell is to ride along in say 3rd gear, and ride with the throttle in the position that it is bogging or stumbling in, eg 1/2 throttle etc. ride along with the engine like that consistently and then reach down and pull your choke on. if it gets better, its lean, and if it kills the engine or gets worse, its rich. snop, dynojets are inertia dynos yes? when you say 68hp did you achieve that on the land and sea crank dyno? how much are they to purchase? thanks, mark

So Eric your bike had a lean stumble instead of a rich bog? lifting the needle up and giving it more fuel helped? snop what type of dyno do you use? dyno jet? dyno dynamics? is it a motorcycle one or a automotive one. thanks, mark

just use a regular 3 jaw puller and throw the flywheel away when your done.
-
sounds like a faulty cdi, apparently it can happen. i would try a new one. maybe you could also try checking the timing with a timing light.
-
i run 1 size bigger in my left cyl and i know alot of other banshees like that too. do like these guys said and check everything but if it still needs a fatter jet in one side then dont worry about it, its pretty normal.

that stator looks like it already has the mod done for DC conversion?
-
I have heard alot of bad stories about ricky stator so not going to buy one of them. what do you buy then if you want a high output stator? where do u get it? thanks, mark

i noticed on that diagram it says 1987-1999. how will my 2002 be different? thanks, mark

Will my RZ flywheel work on my banshee?
4stroker replied to 4stroker's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
thanks man. i finally got my zeeltronic installed, but now my RZ stator has shit itself. luckily i bought the zeeltronic that can run off a banshee stator too, so im putting my stock stator back on. you wouldnt happen to have a banshee wiring diagram would you? (showing all stock components) thanks, mark -
i have a banshee stator that i want to use with a RZ flywheel. im pretty sure the flywheel is off a 1UA RZ. it has VCF57 stamped on it. will it work with the banshee stator? (banshee CDI too) thanks, mark

How to measure ignition advance in mm?

Hi guys, I am trying to find the static ignition advance in mm, on my banshee. I need to know this value to put into my programmable ignition software. From what i understand, i need to measure the stroke from where the tab on the flywheel passes the ignition pickup, to TDC. It is difficult determine where to start measuring from though, as the tab on the flywheel is roughly 15mm long, and the pickup is 5mm in diameter. there are no reference marks on either. Using a dial guage, I started measuring the stroke from where the leading edge of the tab passes the centre of the ignition pick up. is this correct? any info greatly appreciated. thanks, mark

ive witnessed alot of banshees do this for no particular reason. always seems to be the ones that are getting ridden the hardest too. me and my buddy just routed our vent lines so that they point down onto the chain, and keep an eye on the oil level in the gearbox.
-
ive never ran a 2-1 setup but i believe the cause of that is the fuel level in the float bowl is lower than it is in a dual setup, because now you only have one bowl supplying fuel to the engine. you have to set your float higher or run a bigger billet bowl. also i would run dual 33s for duning.

is this the engine that was in broke's 250R chassis?
-
if its kicking back it must be firing, and out of time too! check the pick up and everything again. are you sure its at plus 4 and not something ridiculous higher? it doesnt have a timing key installed as well or something stupid like that?
-
what is the rest of your setup? stock stroke? stock length rods? stock series pistons? are you sure the base gaskets are standard? what does noss say the squish should be?
-
ah ok, so you are bending the solder to an L shape and sticking it down the plug hole? when i check squish i take the head off, cut a length of solder the exact size of the bore, place it on the piston, bolt the head back up and turn the engine over. what domes are they? are they just generic off the shelf ones? like pro design or noss?

whats goin on there?? is that a typo or what?

because the cheetah pvs have a variable exhaust port height...

Starting a new engine build..cheater or cubs?

i would do the cheetah check this site out: www.rzrd500.com get in touch with seb4lo, hes done it all -
hey there has anyone dealt with these guys? http://www.cdbmotorsports.com my buddy is buying some DMC aliens off them for his banshee. are they good guys? thanks, mark

yeah the R1's have an "EXUP" valve in their exhaust pipes. not real sure on how it works but the servo motor that controls it is exactly the same as the RZ one. there are other yamahas too with this set up, R6s and some FZR600s i think?? there should be plenty around because when they put aftermarket exhausts on them it gets rid of the setup. you can also use R6 or FZR600 rectifiers im pretty sure. for more info see this site: www.rzrd500.com zeeltronic's stuff is meant to be top notch i have the complete package for my bike its getting installed as i type this, watch this space for a full report!
